Top 10 Things to do Good for Couples in Green Mountains, Green Mountains

February 3, 2022 Madelene Haan

Vermont’s Green Mountains are the peaks that gave the 14th state its name. Still largely covered by the verdant forest, the area is a year-round destination, popular with both skiers and hikers. The Long Trail, a wilderness hiking trail, traverses the state, while drivers set a slower pace on Vermont’s scenic roads. Quaint towns, such as Stowe and Montgomery, acres of farmed valleys, apple orchards, covered bridges and specialty stores take visitors back in time, and charming inns await.

My husband and I, and another couple recently took the guided snowmobile tour through Snowmobile Vermont - it was more than we could have ever imagined! First, the instructor who led our tour, Geoff White, was amazing. He was funny, very knowledgeable of the trail system and how to operate the snowmobile - he was the perfect tour guide and would highly recommend him. The trails were perfect - we went from wide trails, to backwoods and even across the lake! I can't stress enough how cool the experience was for our whole group.

What a great experience! If you are looking for a unique activity you will love this! My sister and I had such a cool time, and we can’t wait to go back. I was a bit nervous about the hands-on glassblowing but Andrew made us feel at ease and guided us just enough to come away with some beautiful art and a couple of drinking glasses that we can say we made ourselves. So much fun, thank you Manchester Hot Glass!!

Mad Tom Orchard

Reviewed By dreymatthew - Brooklyn, United States

We were so thrilled to find this beautiful orchard, run by a super friendly semi-retired couple and their adorable older dog. When you imagine apple picking in Vermont, this place is what you imagine: Tremendous views of the mountains, meticulously-maintained red barns and row after row of trees brimming with easily-reached apples. We especially enjoyed picking Macintosh apples off one of a few 78 year-old trees they have! We came on a weekday, so we had the place to ourselves. The prices are very reasonable and the apples are delicious. The owners also welcome leashes dogs to join their families in the orchard. Add this to your “must do” list when visiting southern Vermont.

Sometimes it's the simple things that catch your attention after you have slowed down on your trip. The covered bridge and white church with the fall colors is a perfect example. Only a few miles west of Arlington, it a must see.
