Top 10 Things to do Good for a Rainy Day in Amman, Amman Governorate

January 11, 2022 Franklyn Hardiman

Amman's layered history is reflected in its diverse people and its varied architecture. Home to numerous churches and mosques, the city is home to a multidenominational and multicultural population. Even within the midst of the ultra-modern commercial center of the city there is evidence of its ancient roots, with colorful ancient souks, Roman ruins, cultural museums and monuments painting a picture of the history of the region.

After reading the trip advisor reviews below my parents and I thought we would go check it out. We are so glad we did! What a wonderful shop! After walking around town earlier that day we were exhausted by the push to buy at the tourist shops that all had the same things that were not at all handmade. The craft center was a breath of fresh air! When we arrived we were greeted by a beautiful garden with so many curious antiques tastefully placed here and there. Inside is this beautiful home that has been turned into a classy boutique. We got lost in the rooms with beautiful, high quality, truly handmade merchandise ranging from antiques to new. Here you will find unique gifts such as glassware, ceramics, wooden boxes, soaps, trinkets, inlaid furniture, mirrors, pillows, jewelry, antique jewelry, scarfs, handmade blouses, dresses and Knick knacks of all sorts. The real gem here are the various textiles. Meeting the owner Achmed and his colleague was such a treat! They are so kind and hospitable and are there to help you with whatever you may be looking for. They are not pushy and give you space to explore around this magical house. All 2 floors of beautiful things! Back to the textiles though.. you are in for a treat if you like unique, one of a kind scarfs and appreciate fine works of art. Achmed truly has a talent for preserving ancient stories and designs on silk. His works are beautiful masterpieces ranging from geometric to organic patterns with a romantic touch. Meeting him and seeing the passion in his creations is something I will hold dear in my fond memories of our travel to Jordan. Thank you Jordan Craft Center for sharing your hospitality and passion with us!

If you want to have some insight into the history of Arab costume, this is the place. Exquisite needlework on garments that range from utilitarian to festive for weddings and other high occasions. Along with the Jordan National Museum of Fine Arts this is an experience necessary to anyone serious about an interest in Arab culture. I rate this as a MUST SEE in Amman. Forget the malls - you can do that at home. See what ordinary women did to enrich their lives and the lives of those around them through their artistic talent and vision for design and color. FABULOUS.

Breakout JO

Breakout is an escape adventure which provides its visitors with an immersive experience inside a themed setting. The goal is to use individual and team skills to find hidden objects, figure out clues, and solve puzzles to breakout of your room within 60 minutes. Choose your team, book now , and find out if you can beat your surroundings and of course … the clock!

Reviewed By saracB7895LG

We went to Breakout JO as a group of 11 and were so pleased with the experience. It was easy and straightforward to book via e-mail, they quickly answered any question I had, and were very professional and friendly in person. After we arrived and received our quick overview, we jumped into our two rooms to battle against each other on teams in their Se7en "the race is on" rooms. Watching both the clock and the other team's progress made for an exhilarating experience! The room was well-designed, had a variety of puzzles and difficulties, and worked well for our group that included both escape room veterans and first timers. I recommend Breakout JO without hesitation and will return to try other rooms!

This is a very interesting concept for wine lovers, it offers a large variety of wine by the same brand “Jordan River”, a good variety of grapes and years. My favorite was Shiraz 2011 aged for 5 years in oak barrels then bottled and stored in Cellars. Cabernet Sauvignon is always great. A good selection of quality bar food, cheese and cold cuts, served with wine jam and wine bread. The hero of the place is a highly professional sommelier named Issa, ask him for anything and he will provide an honest advice
