Creation Theatre Company

Think about those books, the ones that you'll always go back to, those moments in life where you think 'that's a bit like that chapter' or 'you're just like that character', those are the stories we love. We don't just want to leave those books on the shelf though, we take them down, hand them around, share them out and bring them to life. All over Oxford we find unusual spaces - these stories aren't set in theatres so we don't put them there. Castles, antique mirror tents, college gardens, bookshops and factories... we'll go wherever the stories take us, and so far we've taken over 500,000 people with us. From the thousands of children who've told classic stories in new ways through our education programme, to our professional actors and directors, you're always most likely to find us lost in a good book. 18 years, 54 shows, half a million audience members aged 5-95...we are Oxford's own Creation Theatre Company.

Creation's Bleak House was a great way to celebrate a birthday, and the highlight of our mini break in Oxford. Great fun, brilliant acting with the cast playing multiple parts and clever use of a limited number of props. Very clever use of space in the bookshop. Music too, what more could we want.

A Day in the Country

A Day In The Country is an award winning Corporate Events, Team Building and Conference venue based on the Oxfordshire / Northamptonshire border. The venue is set in a 250 acre estate, featuring three trout lakes surrounded by woodland. The hospitality area and conference suite are housed in a magnificent 18th century barn, which has been sympathetically converted to offer the best of both worlds; open log fires combine with the sophistication of a modern conference and hospitality suite. Corporate activities range from Clay Shooting, Archery, Air Pistol Shooting, Rage Buggies, 4×4 Driving, Tractor Driving, Falconry, Hovercraft driving to Team Building Exercises and our Ropes Course and Raft Building.

Attended as part of business strategy & team building day. Sited just of the M40 so very easy to get to. Well signposted with plenty of parking. We were in the great barn. Great entrance hall for everyone to gather in. Breakfast of bacon rolls, tea & coffee provided to give a great start to the day. Separate function room with fantastic seating & projection presentation facilities. Tea , coffee & biscuits provided during break. Great buffet lunch served. During breakfast, tea & lunch all dietary requirements were catered for. Our group contained both vegan & gluten free. Following lunch we were split in to several groups for the team building part of the day. Each activity had its own instructor who were very professional. The activities were also well thought out & the equipment was of great quality & unlike some facilities there was a very low risk around health & safety. I strongly recommend this venue if you are planning an similar event to ours. There was also a bar that we did not use but I expect that this place would also be a fantastic venue for small wedding parties or family parties.

We booked an excellent 'hawk walk' experience though Virgin for 3/4 hour. Just the two of us (in our 50s) and and the knowledgeable keeper Ross. We took a stroll to the falconry arena area then on to the public parkland/woods down the lane, with the harris hawk freely following by choice. We had the hawk land on our hand about 5 times each from the posts and trees. The experience includes entry to the falconry which is much bigger and better than we expected - loads of birds (including owls and vultures), and meerkats, skunks, racoons and ferrets - so spent the few hours there. All had great enclosures and were well looked after. Saw an impressive flight demonstration show in the arena too for about half an hour - not just the usual birds of prey - a little owl, kookaburra and cute running/jumping seriema too. The falconry centre is part of a big garden centre complex including a restaurant, cafe, farm shop, clothing, and a few outdoor farm animals (alpacas, rhea, goats) so you can make a whole day out. There's even a soft play, carousel and playground for young ones (though limited opening in Aug due to covid). Superb, and surpassed our expectations!!

Wheatly Birds of Prey Centre

Reviewed By Rachelhotlawyer - London, United Kingdom

A chance encounter led us to spend hours at this sanctuary in the company of Clive, his sister and his wonderful team (plus dogs, ferrets and wild barn owl). It’s wonderful to see beautiful birds of prey up so close but even better to see how well cared for they are by a man who is devoted to their well being and conservation. His team share his passion and made us so welcome- it was a struggle to leave them and the array of birds. Each bird has a fascinating history with some heart warming rescue stories. All the cares in the world evaporate here. If you love birds of prey and want to see them in the best possible conditions then go to Wheatley Birds of Prey Centre. Thank you for a terrific experience today. Rachel and Duncy

Thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon at the Race Hut, as we booked the venue for an international group of colleagues, made up of men and women from a handful of backgrounds and cultures. Charles and the team made sure the event ran smoothly, from the initial welcome and briefing to the podium ceremony at the end. A clean & comfortable environment, and a fully stocked bar helped as well! Highly recommended.
