Aber Falls

Reviewed By OldWulf - Wolverhampton, United Kingdom

Save £3 and park in the village just up by the hotel, then take advantage of the most educational free public toilet in the UK. The Easy Route is well named and for the majority of the population , including push chairs, wheelchairs and intrepid flip flop wearers, the path is clear and the falls are truly lovely, especially on a warm day when you can paddle in pristine cold water. For the fitter, braver, boot wearing traveller the route down along the Harder Path takes in another smaller waterfall and a tougher, longer path strewn with boulders, muddy patches, steep up and down sections and sheep. Dogs on leads essential and the last mile is vertigo territory. You'll be thankful you didn't choose this route to start with. The scenery is stunning , an overheard comment being "It's like a mini Yosemite".

I came here with a stag do at the end of February and it’s a great place. The building is equipped with a nice cafe, and you can purchase the bits you may need on the track. The information video lasts for around 5-10 mins and the staff are great with you. The go karts are tip top and the track itself is fantastic. The views whilst going around it are incredible. The track is top quality. Highly recommended if you like go karting and if you’ve not been before it’s a great place to start, you want to go anywhere else after going here. Give GYG Karting a chance and you’ll return I’m sure. We’re all intending on returning as soon as it’s possible. Thanks for a great memorable day.

We took part in the Snowdon Challenge with Shrewsbury Town in the Community. Arriving at the hotel in the afternoon we were promptly greeted by Jim who was such a kind man who guided us through what we would be doing the next day and, with us being a smaller group, flexible with start times etc.. In the morning we met up with Dan and Jim. Dan would be taking us on the bike ride and up and down Snowdon with Jim being in the support van along with taking us kayaking across the lake to finish off the challenge. The day couldn't have gone smoother, it was so well organised with plenty of food and water supplied. I truly couldn't recommend Adventurous Ewe anymore! Jim was very kind and genuine who you could clearly see loved what he does, the same goes for Dan who also sung the praises of Jim having only worked with him a couple of times on freelance told us he is the best person he has worked for. All I can say is, book in, challenge yourself, raise some money for charity if you wish and I'm sure you will have a blast!

Locked In North Wales

I arranged an evening at Locked In North Wales for a group of 13 colleagues. It was absolutely brilliant. We all loved it and had a great evening. We were split into 3 teams so it made it even more competitive!! The rooms were fantastic! I was in the Prisoner of War room and we almost didn’t make it out, very well set up and certainly got us working as a team! I had been in contact with Ash for a few weeks before to arrange everything and he was brilliant at organising it all and responding to my several emails. Nothing was too much trouble! Highly recommend Locked In North Wales and can’t wait to return to try out the other rooms!

Great Orme Copper Mine

Reviewed By Robert_Moye - Prague, Czech Republic

Great Orme Mines is the largest known Bronze Age copper mining industrial complex in the world, and affords a glimpse into, for the time, advanced mining, engineering, and metallurgical science organized at a societal level. The story of the discovery, recovery, preservation, and continued excavation and archaeological investigation of this globally significant site is as interesting and remarkable as the prehistory. Although only 200 meters of the 6 kilometers of known prehistoric underground mine passages are available for tour, this provides a glimpse into the physically and mentally demanding environment of this ancient enterprise, and the periods of Victorian Era mining that followed. The museum displays and surface tour of the site are equally fascinating and informing, and the mine personnel, many involved in the original discovery and reclamation, are wonderfully informed sources of further information.

Gwrych Castle

Gwrych Castle is a 250 acre historic landscape under restoration. The castle was purchased by a charitable trust in June 2018 with a view to restoring the site back to its former glory. Come and witness the process of restoration as part of our daily opening or visit one of our events. For up to date information please visit our website.

After seeing Gwrych Castle in the distance and admiring its beauty, we decided to visit and support this fantastic preservation project. We decided to purchase a yearly family pass which is excellent value if you plan to visit more than once. With four kids it can be a challenge to find activities which offer good value for money. I’m told that there are special events throughout the year that you can attend with the pass. The owners and volunteers have done an amazing job of the renovations and the gardens were in full bloom, much to the delight of my children who like to use the ‘Picture This’ app to identify flowers. The Cala lillies especially were stunning. The gardens have been restored sympathetically and you can imagine them being the same now as they were a hundred years ago. The restored indoor rooms are closed at the moment as there is a phased reopening due to COVID but this gives us something to look forward to when we visit again. There is hand sanitizer dotted around and the one way signed walk which ensures that you are never close or bumping into other people. The views from the top wall are amazing and panoramic. The sun was shining and life really couldn’t get any better. That was until we discovered the cherry trees near the car park and at least an hour was spent picking, eating and getting covered in cherry juice! Oh what fun! We can’t wait to see what restorations happen next and commend the owners and team of committed volunteers for their hard work and commitment.

We love this place! And we cannot wait to visit again! The toboggan was really fun and my 4-year-old loved the sno-tube! The Alpine Lodge was also a nice place for a drink and to recover from all the activities! Well worth a visit! All the staff were amazing, but I need to shoutout Chris. He made the sno-tube so much fun and really went out of his way to make sure we all had a good time.
