Top 10 Specialty lodgings in Kefalonia, Greece

April 28, 2023 Vergie Nakamoto

The sapphire waters of Cephalonia are steeped with history. The large Greek island was home to Odysseus, the legendary king hailed in Homer’s The Odyssey. Fortunately, it won’t take you ten years to get there. Explore the enchanting caverns of the Drogarati caves, sail to Ithaca on a glass-bottomed boat or marvel at the ancient artifacts inside the Archaeological Museum of Argostoli, Cephalonia’s main town. Or just hide from it all at one of the island’s many private beach coves.

Barbara Studios & Apartments

Modest, clean apartment

Reviewed By nicole_hnc98

I stayed at Barbara Studios for 4 nights and it served its job. The owners are incredibly friendly and helpful with any questions you have. The rooms are very clean however the block by the pool is very outdated. Tv is an old box tv and has one English news channel rest are in Greek I assume - although not a huge issue as you don’t go on holiday to watch tv. It can be slightly noisy at night due to planes flying past thought this is as expected as the hotel is 10 mins from airport. If you stay in number 13 bear in mind it has no private balcony. I also found it slightly hard to maintain the temperature of the water when having a shower, whenever I tried turning the hot water on it would turn cold and then hot again after a while. I found the beds and pillows very uncomfortable and hard and woke up with sore neck and shoulders most days, not sure if it might be the norm for certain European countries though as they may prefer their beds to be more firm? No microwave only hob and kitchenware will have to buy own tissues, cooking oil, washing up liquid, salt pepper. You also will have to ask for a toaster or iron as it’s not provided in the room. Since this was my first time visiting Greece I found out that you can’t flush paper down toilet and must throw them in the bins instead. The maids come about once or twice a week. The shop next door was closed during my stay there so nearest one is about 15min walk. Good few restaurants within 20 mins walking distance, I recommend Esperides need to try their orange cake - delicious! 2 beaches nearby - Ai Helis beach and Ammes beach. I recommend Ammes, about 5 mins longer to walk but definitely worth it. The sand is much nicer and has bigger beach bar, it was €4 to get a bed and umbrella for myself as I was travelling solo whereas in Ai Helis it was €5 and the path to get there is quite dangerous - very steep path and no handrails. Bus stop right outside hotel that comes every hour or so to argostoli harbour and is pretty reliable. Make sure to sit on the left side of bus when going towards argostoli to get best views. I had a boat trip one morning and the night before I asked Erato to pre book a taxi to get me to the harbour for 9am the following morning as the first bus doesn’t come until 9:15am, it arrived at 8:30am and was €17 very reasonable. If you rent a car you have to be a good driver as the roads are very narrow and winding you have to give way to everyone. Overall, Baraba studios is lovely for a quiet stay. I couldn’t give it more than 3 stars for the hotel itself but i give an extra star for the owners hospitality and friendliness. I would recommend to stay somewhere like Lassi for more shops and things to do as Svoronata is quite rural.

Everything about La Signora is first class. Bedrooms furnished to the highest standard, quality linens, spotlessly clean, friendly professional staff - in fact one of the best boutique hotels we have stayed in. Only B&B available - and it's a great breakfast - and the food in the restaurant is so good you wouldn't want to go anywhere else. We would have returned in September if it wasn't fully booked! Cant wait to return.....

We booked the accommodation directly. From the first discussion with Mr. Dimitris we understood that he is very client oriented, and he did everything it's possbile to have a memorable accommodation. When we arrived, we've been welcome by Mrs. SOFIA (Mr. Dimitris mother), who is in charge of the location and she is better than any Guest experience Manager:) . She is very polite, full of energy and a very kind person. She made a very nice sparkle for our friends when she find out about their wedding ceremony. The rooms are big, very clean, the furniture is new, qualitative, appliance are also new and very good quality. Location is in a very quite zone. Each room has a small balcony, with a small table+2 chairs and a lot of flowers. For us everything was perfect. Congratulations to the owner. We strongly recommend Casa Buganvilla?

Natalie's Hotel & Apartments

The Natalie's is a family run hotel that has been around since 1995. We are back after a brief hiatus during which major restorations were done to upgrade the establishment in order to provide better service for all customers. Due to the familial nature of the staff, you can expect the greatest care and attention, in a picturesque location towards the back of the village of Skala, Kefalonia.

Our second stay at Natalie's and it won't be our last

Ai Helis Resort

Lovely peaceful place ...

Reviewed By shellmck

I stayed in these lovely apartments with my husband and our daughter who is in her 20s for 2 weeks , we picked this place as it only has 13 apartments and was off the beaten track in a small resort which is what we like and look for it a holiday , 10 to 15 mins walk gets you to a hand full of very nice restaurants the sunset from the ones on the sea front is amazing to watch , and a couple of supermarkets , the pool area is a delightful area , the pool is large for a small complex ideal for relaxing after a hard year at home , never once had a issue getting a sun bed the room we had was a one bed apartment overlooking the pool and was spacious and well equipped for our needs . The only thing that spoilt our stay was the arrival of a family from hell (1 mother 4 teenagers ) who were not particularly well behaved and spent most of the week they were there drunk (even though 2 of them weren’t old enough ! ) and arguing with the owners, the other holiday makers and themselves, which did make everyone uneasy while they where around , I guess they were in the wrong resort but should have had a bit of respect for the others around them , we even rented a car to get away from them , hiring a car is a great way to explore the very many beautiful places this island has . But I would definitely return to this lovely secluded place again

Perfect place for us !

Reviewed By Cantwellies

Ok, these apartments might not be for everyone, however suits us perfectly & we now spend a month here every summer, & sometimes return for a couple of weeks at the end of the season. Quiet location, near to everything else. Fantastic restaurants, supermarkets with everything available, car hire etc etc. Argostoli , & airport close by too. These apartments are a little sad so don’t expect too many luxuries, although they are very clean & the owner Elias, is always available to help you ? Who spends time in their rooms anyway, but beautiful views from your balcony if you are given a high room. We love it here.
