If staying in Positano, do yourself a favour and make a reservation at Il Tridente. The food was spectacular, the view overlooks the east side of positano, and the service (led by Liliana) was outstanding. Melissa (celiac, gluten free) were treated as if we were the most important customers they've ever had. They went out of their way to make changes to plates to make them gluten free, the homemade gf pasta is pictured. All in all it was a perfect experience and one we would highly recommend to you.Thank you, Andrew! It was a pleasure meeting you both on such a special occasion for the two of you.All the best for your future together,Liliana

They serve a good portion of top notch grub for a very modest price. First day we picked up some cheese, bread, and croissants for the next day's meal. Another day, we stopped for some delicious and huge pannini and aranchini. Third time we stopped in for a lovely meat, cheese, melon antipasti platter a calzone (huge and only 3euro!) And some more fried goodness. And still will probably go back once more. And the owner and staff have been very friendly each time. A small hidden gem.

This family run restaurant is located uphill, ~30 minutes hike from the Amalfi center. Reportedly they grow all the ingredients they serve on their menu, therefore NONE of the dishes (except for the cold cuts) contain any meat products. We weren't aware of this detail and I wish we would have known that ahead of time since I would not have visited and would have avoided the trip up there.First of all, the hike was pretty brutal, especially under the intense Amalfi Coast heat. There was no signage to guide us through the hike, but my iPhone GPS did a pretty goo job in getting us there. Once we got there we had a table reserved outside but we were too hot and sweating profusely to even think properly so we asked to be sat inside. After we cooled down and recovered our senses we walked out to the patio area to check it out and it was actually nice with some shade and a cool breeze. We still opted to stay inside though since we had some drinks already served at our table. The menu is rather limited with only a couple of main dishes offered and it seems they change it depending on what they have available from their garden/farm. They don't have much in terms of wine selection and the time we visited they only had red house wine to offer. They do have lemon drinks served in multiple different versions (limonata, granita, slushy, etc).We started off with the fried zucchini flowers which were the highlight of the meal and the only dish we actually enjoyed. We ordered another appetizer dish to share, frisella (or fresella?), which was like a bruschetta except it was a single, hard, large piece of twice baked bread topped with a few ingredients like onions, peppers, and sun dried tomatoes. It was boring and definitely not memorable in a good way. For our main entrees we had the pasta of the day dish which was a baked bucatini pasta, with provolone cheese and tomato (think lasagna here) and a lemon risotto. We ate the pasta dish because we were starving but it was not good at all. Not sure why they chose to bake the pasta, I think it would have been a much better dish if it would have just been cooked with tomato and cheese as the sauce. And the risotto, where do I even start? It was lemony and fragrant for sure, but really it was just a plain plate of rice, boring and lacking creativity.Although Amalfi is known for having way too many tourist traps for restaurants, I think any of the city center places would have been better than this one. The hike up there was definitely not worth the effort (and a close call for heat exhaustion), time or money. Although the meal was not expensive, the restaurant in my opinion does not deserve the 5-star rating it's gotten on other review platforms. The service was friendly enough, but it doesn't justify the visit. We didn't even want to experiment with dessert, although it looked like it could have been a decent choice, sadly we were just over the whole experience and wanted it to be over so we could hike our way back down to Amalfi under the scorching heat as quickly as possible.

Well, except that it can't possibly get any better--at least, not in regard to a culinary experience. The food, the service, the ambience all contributed to a perfect experience. Our reservation was a bit earlier than Italians customarily eat, but we were seated right away by Linda, our very knowledgeable, gracious server (who, along with her sister, Caterina, does much of the restaurant's baking). Linda helped us with our order, and we were soon enjoying a wonderful starter--a fried squash blossom filled with cheese and accompanied with shrimp and fried. zucchini thinly sliced on a mandolin. Delicious. Followed that with mixed grill fish and a dish billed as "Neapolitan lasagna reinvented by the chef." Both were wonderful, but the lasagna was off the charts. Still dreaming about it. Tiramisu, an excellent lemon cake, and coffee rounded it all off. Chef Vito offers cooking classes, and after last night's meal, my wife is ready to sign up.

Me and my partner passed through Gragnano on our way to the Amalfi Coast in September and were told to come eat at this very beautiful and charming little place. If we had more time we would have loved to have stayed, as the settings truly were breathtaking but lunch was perfect enough for us.Although this hotel is not an easy find; having to drive through the one way streets, finding tiny turnings and driving up a very steep and cobble road/path, the wait & search was well worth it.One of the most hospitable experiences of my life, having turned up at about midday and being told that they were closed for lunch, the lovely lady who seemed to not only be the chef but also the house keeper, porter, receptionist, you name it, told us that she would cook us lunch and hoped we didn't mind having the restaurant to ourselves and if the local produce was ok for us, then she would whip something together for around 1pm. To our amazement, we could only but take up her offer, as she seemed more than happy to accommodate us as we were only on a short visit.Everything we got given was delicious and huge ahha! To start with, we had an antipasti board of ham and cheese, along with bruschetta, some zucchini, aubergines, peppers, bread and a lovely bottle of white wine from their vineyards. To follow we had the best pasta that can be made from Gragnano with pomodoro and more bread, Then for dessert my partner had a chocolate mouse, which was a struggle to fit in but he did it!!After this we went to pay and bought a few homemade jams, truffle fettucine, limone linguine and these amazing pasta shells, for which we will use for Ragu once back in England. All together the bill came to 70 euros, we gave a 10 euro tip and left with full belly's, smiles and the desire to go back the next time we visit that area of Italy again. Once again Italy proves that not only do they sell some of the best produce in the world but their love for sharing and caring for something they have lived all their lives for, makes visits like these so magical and something I would love to see more in England!!! Grazie mille

After spending a week in Positano and eating at a different restaurant for every lunch and dinner, I can say that D’Aiello’s Family exemplifies what I would describe if asked about an “authentic Positano experience”.Located on the second floor of the small Hotel Savoia, the restaurant has approximately twenty tables on their terrace and a bit more than that inside. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, without being pretentious. We enjoyed wine, appetizers, pasta, seafood and even a very well-prepared steak. Everything was excellent, with pricing a bit below what we expected for food and service of this caliber. The wine list was not overpowering, but had a nice assortment of local wines for every price point. The service was professional, personal and engaging. Our waiter made us feel right at home and never “phoned it in” as is so typical of tourist destinations.Highly recommend.
