It is the easternmost prefecture-level city of the province and a major seaport. Weihai borders Yantai to the west and the Yellow Sea to the east.

We travelled by bus from Wendeng into Weihai where we took the ferry across to Liugong Island. The Sino-Japnese war museum is an interesting place to visit. Although you can hire earphone gadgets for different languages, they are not necessary if you speak English as all displays are in English also. The museum is very well laid out with many photos of what happened to the Chinese people - we learned a lot.
