Kirby Hall

We went twice in one day: in the morning out of curiosity, and later with children, after school. Place is peaceful, staff very friendly, building up to expectation, peacocks truthfully wonderful. We had a stroll around the building and formal gardens, enjoyed picnic spots and get some conquers from alley- we will be back in a future, for tranquillity of that place, when you can just be. There is small shop with usual gifts and treats, and with coffee machine- I just heard from very confident child that hot chocolate is worth a try.

Deene Park

Deene Park is a largely 16th century house which has been occupied by the Brudenell family since 1514. It was the seat of the Earls of Cardigan including the 7th Earl who led the Charge of the Light Brigade in 1854. The gardens include long borders, old fashioned roses, lakes and a parterre with topiary teapots.

Deene Park has opened the gardens this weekend, so that visitors could see the snowdrops. Having parked the car and crossed the river, we walked beside the lake where there was a superb display of snowdrops. Large displays in the woods transformed the ground into a sea of white. We also saw hellibores on the long beds in front of the house as well as daffodils. There are some beautiful walks through dappled shade by the lake. The tea room was busy and offered a range of scrumptious cakes, there were also plants for sale. The house and gardens reopen in the spring. Historic House members are free. One of the largest and best displays of snowdrops we have ever seen. Put the date in the diary for 2021.

Originally bought a Driving experience for my son for his 21st.. he liked it so much that he treated me to this experience for Fathers Day present. I drove the Aston Martin, Ferrari, Lamborghini, and Nissan GTR. Brilliant experience... My advice is to drive the car which you think you would most like at the end, and the least favourite at the start... that way you get to know the track a bit and you get the most from the experience. My favourite? The Lamborghini... amazing traction. I was really surprised that they really let you drive the car and help you get the most from the day. Didn't get chance to look at the speedo but lets just say that the cars were screaming!! even around the corners you are advised how to go fast around them. Super day.. Cheers Son!.. Did have a little surprise for him and my wife though as I paid the extra £50 for them to have a race experience in two cars against each other sitting beside a racing driver in the Atoms!... they absolutely loved it! Try it out. The weren't really any queues for the cars either.
