Small local restaurant in Jambiani village a short walk from the beach (not on the beach/no seaview). We booked our meal a day in advance. Mohammed the owner only cook accordingly to his bookings. The seafood was very tasty and very well cooked. If you are looking for a local experience this is the place to go to.

This place came highly recommended by someone who goes regularly so we were a bit disappointed to receive re-heated food with questionable salads at high prices. Also there was a very bad smell coming from the kitchen. Maybe we went on a bad day (Eid weekend) but if the chef was off they could have shut for the night...would not recommend.Dear Lucyy990,we are sorry to read your comment, we have several regular customers who come to our restaurant, what we like is give the best to eat well with everyday fresh products, to our customers. I can't believe the best restaurantin Jambiani clearly chooses to violate the law and allow smoking at dinning tables despite our complaints.DISGUSTING!!!Dear guest,First we thank you for having dinner at our restaurant twice.Regarding the smoking, first our restaurant is an open restaurant, second we cannot prohibit smoking while in many restaurants on the Island is allowed, this because Tanzania has no any law that states the prohibition of smoking at restaurants, but is the case of discipline, an individual him/herself to understand that smoking can be annoying and troublesome to others. About the complaints, we didn't receive any complaint about this, but i we do for any troublesome or problem, taking action on it is our first rule.But perhaps we will take your review as an advice for our restaurant.Thanks.

We went to this restaurant 3 times and each time we had really nice food and service. The fish is fresh, tasty and well cooked and all the ingredients are locals, showing that is an ethic business. We really appreciate that they donât use too many plastic bottles encouraging the clients to get the jar of water to reduce plastic pollution. Everything is home made, even the pasta, which is amazing. We stayed at the hotel next to it so for us was perfect but the nice thing is that we could see many many people from other hotels in the area coming to have dinner at the Bistrò! The owners Salvatore and Roberta take care of every little thing and they make sure that every details is perfect. The location is elegant and modern with a touch of Zanzibar style. The service is friendly and fast (something difficult to find in Zanzibar)! Prices are really good especially for quality of the food and location. We had such a great time and great food! Your words are so sweet like you, dear francy.....We try to do our best every day to give a good service to the guests and we are so happy to host guests from all the hotels of Kendwa and also from other cities. Let me start off saying I love food. Anywhere I go I search and want to ensure I have the best meals. I came across Taarab and decided I wanted to bring my family of 8 here. Being from the USA, you have to temper expectations when you visit countries like Zanzibar. Essentially it was a bad experience from the start. We waited 20 minutes to get our water - we were the only customers in at 3pm on a Wednesday. Then our bread came out cold, and we had to send it back. After about an hour, our food came out from the kitchen, we ordered everything, from appetizers to their famous seafood platter ($70USD). EVERYTHING was terrible. I called out the chef, and I made him hold our appetizer, it was a fried lobster roll, I explained to him how is something cold when itâs fried? I then made him hold a fry, same thing. The chef was pretty baffled. He offered to bring us food, but letâs be honest here, we all know he wouldâve gone and thrown it in the microwave. I had a really really bad experience here, I walked up and left the restaurant angrily after giving them a piece of my mind. I didnât pay for anything because nothing was eaten. I spoke to the Hilton staff downstairs before I left, but I hope you have a better experience than I did. I really wish I wouldâve just gone to Emerson, but hey you win some and lose some!Dear Anil L,So sorry to read about your disappointment. Just visited the place twice last week. It serves fair local food, hence it can of course not compare with a real restaurant. The place is a real beach restaurant and the service is nice.However, if you want your fish and different type than well done - good luck.Also the side come down to rice or chips (chips I can recommend as they are done well).

Great service and food We stayed at the Hilton and so had a choice of the buffet and the fisherman grill. We ate here multiple times and had a great experience . The staff are attentive and very welcoming . The food is served promptly unlike some restaurants nearby where the wait can be very long. Great variety in food - Indian , local , seafood etc however the manager mentioned that there may be some further expansion to the menu to include some more classic favourites. He even offered to make us dishes not on the menu - an example of the great service that is on offer hereDrinks are reasonably priced as is the overall menu . It is marginally More expensive than nearby local restaurants however the comfort , cleanliness and service is superior so I was happy to pay the little extra in price .Comfortably 4 or 5 stars and would recommend Dear Jaglatne,Thank you indeed for taking the time to review your dining experience at Fisherman's Seafood & Grill.
