Volos (Greek: Βόλος) is a coastal port city in Thessaly situated midway on the Greek mainland, about 330 kilometres (205 miles) north of Athens and 220 kilometres (137 miles) south of Thessaloniki. It is the capital of the Magnesia regional unit. Volos is the only outlet to the sea from Thessaly, the country's largest agricultural region. With a population of 144,449 (2011), it is an important industrial centre, while its port provides a bridge between Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

Portaria seemed like a nice village. The taxi driver recommended this place. We took a taxi from volos for 17 euros.
The restaurant was in the main plaza of the village. It had a nice fire place and felt really wintery. We thought it was expensive compared to other restaurants in the area. The food was really heavy on our stomachs because it was extremely oil. As a result we had a hard time sleeping at night. The ambience of the restaurant though was just right.

We are veggies and had lots of choices, several salads and dips and all was very tasty with a lick that we did not feel at dinners all over the north and center of Greece for the last week
The zucchini patties hat a nice touch of anis,
The green pepper in the salat as from their garden and was very mild. The Tziziki was generous with garlic an i liked it and so was the Eggplant dish that was grilled thin slices of it seasoned above and a sprinkle of cheese.
The fried cheese with sesame in cucumber(?) oil with honey was GREAT.
The service was very good, the waiteras very rapid in his move and looking at clients to see if he was needed.
The oner came in as we were in the middle of dinner and introduced herself, and it felt tyat she cared of the other dinning table near us
The place is small , saw the sunset as we had a glass of(the owner's) home made wine.

We visited this place in order to.drink our coffee. It was really good with a nice view. They serve sweets too but we didn't order. The waiter wasnt polite at all.

One of the superior eateries in the greater Volos area. Very pleasant during the summer, with huge trees offering generous shade (we visited in August). The freshness of the ingredients was obvious. They smoke their own pork steaks, recommended. Very relaxed atmosphere, lots of room for the children to run around, if you visit for lunch on a weekday (as we did).

A very nice restaurant with friendly service and delicious food. Wine of any choice, but the home wine of Zitsa is excellent so no worthy to order a more expensive one.
The environment is cozy, there is non smoking area, in general it has a very clear atmosphere.

It's the entourage what makes this place work. When you order a drink you get 2 small dishes with it and then you can order more. Some of the dishes are canned food and some they serm to cook themselves (these are by far the best). Very attentive service and primarily younger clients.

The service in overall is excellent. The staff sincerely try to understand what type of beers you like the most and which flavours suit you the best and advise you which ones from their huge catalogue would satisfy your needs!!!
The food is also excellent. Whatever we have tried there was tasty , fresh and generous, portion-wise. From salads to main courses, you can definately say that these people have as their main goal to satisfy you.
As far as the atmosphere, every table offers its own view to the beautiful decorations, from beer bottles and glasses to clever posters and signs, 'hidden' all over the place. Even the outdoor area transfers you to a different setting, at least, a very nice break.
Every time we try something new, you can never feel that you ve tried everything. I suggest you try flogozymo, chilli con carne and lahmatzoun!!!! Mark my words!!!!

Very pleasant and polite staff. Quite a variety of dishes and tastes! Our salad was fresh and instantly (the fruit pieces were cold and the chicken pieces were worm). The delicious appetizers with cold cuts and/or cheese prepared us for an equally delicious pasta (many types served). The wine catalog is very complete too! Definitely a good choice for lunch or dinner, either family, friends or couple, in a cosy place outside of but near to the town center.
