Situated on the North side of the very fine Place Notre Dame in the lovely town of Villefranche de Rouergue, the Terrace looks out at the magnificent tower of the Abbey and the collonaded square. The service was very attentive and facilitating - with some fun thrown in. The food was good enough at a competitive price.

We had lunch Here and all 3 courses offered the same high quality and attention to enhanced flavours. We liked how the chef uses an Asian palette to create an interesting and tastey riff on more traditional cuisine . The service was warm and attentive and the room simple but spacious and comfortable. We particularly enjoyed the veloute and the duck. The desserts were both excellent with the pistachio creme brûlée being a real treat. We were happy to each have a glass of Sancerre wine and felt the quality for value was high.

I am surprised at the previous reviews as I have just visited this restaurant for lunch and the meals were very good and the service excellent.
The confit de canard just fell off the bone and the pave de cerf was so tender it melted in the mouth. I had a flan d'orange for desert which was one of the best Deserts I have ever tasted. The staff were attentive and the timing of the service was just right, not too fast or too slow.
I would definitely recommend this restaurant for good food, well presented at a reasonable price.

We ate here today and had a great lunch. We chose the set lunch menu, which offers entree, main course and desert for 21 euro's. The food was interesting, very tasty and beautifully presented. Service was excellent and the ambiance in the restaurant was good.

La Gabelle has been a restaurant we have visited many times during our 5 years of staying in our house nearby. The staff are always friendly, efficient and polite and the waitress who has been there since we first went does a great job. It's quick and simple stuff and a perfect pit stop after a drink in the town square or a late night shop at the supermarkets. Pizzas, salads, more traditional French dishes and a good selection of wines are all available. Never fails and consistently good.

This restaurant has transformed itself from a safe, dowdy, eaterie for commercial travellers into an outstanding restaurant serving great regional dishes. The ris d'agneau was excetional. It still has the charming view over the Aveyron River. If there are two of you only, do ask for a table on the Terrace. It is reasonable priced. The wine list is not great

This is a delightful, small tea-room with genuinely home-made cakes and a range of good teas. Service was friendly and helpful. There is a small Terrace area which overlooks the Rue Gautharie, a narrow road separated from the main through route by a band of grass about 20 metres wide which is well shaded by plane trees. We sat there on an October afternoon - there was some traffic noise but it was not intrusive. This tea room is thoroughly recommended. Not cheap but very good value for the quality.

Attracted by the lovely, welcoming atmosphere on a evening with a terrible thunderstorm, we discovered a great place for our dinner. Freshly cooked, delicious food, attentive service with an 'all-is-possible'-attitude and a cozy place decorated in fun and cheerful colors.
Due to the cold and wet weather, we could not enjoy the outside sitting area, which would have given us a wonderful view on the main square of Villefranche-de-Rouergue.

We eat here fairly regularly and whilst it might not stand up to UK competition if you want Chinese/Vietnamese food locally this is definitely first choice. Good range of dishes friendly and efficient service from owner. Not the cheapest option, but worth a go.
Pleasant outside dining space in summer, be aware closes to allow owner to go home and visit family for several weeks February (ish)
