The combination of old and new lends a distinctive style and unique atmosphere to Café Riis. We serve light, ecxiting lunches and delicious homemade cakes. Tuesday through Saturday we are open in the evening. We offer soft light, a fully licensed bar and our kitchen is open until 22.00 (Saturday to 20.00)! During the summer we also offer a sunny outdoor café. Welcome to one of the best cafés in town.

Free wifi and exotic menu - puffin breast and whale meat. We had the cheeseburger though. Nice cosy ambience. Easy to locate. Two thumbs up.

We stopped in the Galleri cafe whilst visiting friends in son, It is nicely layed out with big sofa's outside for the summer, and inside was quite stylish & packed... I believe the owners have another Italian restaurant in town, the wife runs this and the husband run's restaurant....
Anyway i noticed a couple of negative reviews on this place and i can't understand why... Its great, the salad was very nice,the salmon is far better than Scottish smk salmon (i'm a chef so should no) and the beer wasn't bad either.... I can't comment on price as i didn't pay, but as a tourist Norway isn't cheep anyway...
If i am back in town i'll pop in again.... thx guys

It is a popular meeting place in Son and offers a wide choise of seasonal dishes. Function rooms for large and small events. Course and conference facilities. We can arrange speaial evenings around a theme, as well as food- and wine courses.

There are new owners in the Son Kro. They need to be careful that the standards & atmosphere does not slip too much.
We recently had lunch/dinner and the service & standard we lacking. This is very worrying as as it made the whole experience very disappointing.
The new owner MUST have good experienced staff + the burgers must not be ex shop....not to mention the warm white wine....all in all very bad.

The meals are really nice presented and they taste really nice. Compared to the price the flavors might have been a bit more refined. The service was good, but can benefit from a slightly more cautious approach to not interfere with the customer visiting.

We poped into ristorante 21 for a spot of lunch whilst in son, visiting friends and unfortuantly it was closed for lunch as the summer season had'nt started... But the friendly owner directed us to his cafe which his wife runs and we had a great lunch there...
Its a shame we ran out of time to stay the evening to try this place as it was quaint,and the owner seemed a great block, thx goodness he spoke english which was a great help...
Next time where over from uk we'll try you out...

We received a warm welcome, and we had friendly and efficient service the Whole time. I found the colours and decoration very attractive. The Venison dish was nicely presented and really tasty. We tried all Three desserts they offered, and they were also very good. Will be happy to Return here!

Son Bryggerhus opened during the summer of 2015. We serve lunch and dinner in modern facilities right on the waterfront in the center of Son. Our menu is varied and changes with the seasons. Our Chambre Separée is available for meetings and dinners for 6-18 persons.

Dining with family.
Son is a beautiful place located south of Oslo. With a maritime environment and slow pace this highly desired location will give you peace in mind.
Son Bryggerhus is located just on the harbor. With numerous seats outside you can watch all the boats that make or don´t make their perfect approach towards the tie up session @ the harbor. The restaurant is popular and during the summer months you should make a reservation. The reason I did not give this establishment 5 stars is due to the meny. Being at the harbor they should have an extensive seafood meny. Only the cod and fish & chips were offered. In addition "todays menu" had grilled salmon. Too boring.. A tip to the management: Offer more seafood and make that your signature.
We went for the fish & chips. The fish was crispy white and all the extras were put in a perfect harmony. A really fresh dish! One of the best I have tasted!
Service was good and the place is perfect for an harbor experience. Try it!

The burgers are very very good. The sweet potato chips are also delicious. We've had take out and eat in. The service was friendly but not as attentive as one would fine in an upmarket restaurant - but that's my only critique of an otherwise great place.

We were seated in this wonderful private balcony for 2 overlooking Son harbor, which provided an incredible romantic setting. We both ordered fish casserole and were both impressed, the food was outstanding. We both loved the dish so much that we have tried to copy it at home. The service and atmosphere was superb and we had such a wonderful evening. We will without a doubt come back.
