Fantastic view from the large Terrace, 1700 m above sealevel, in typical traditional Alpine style, easy to reach and so far off at the same time.
There are many different ways to reach it: You can take the bus in Schwaz and then walk for an hour, you can take your own car and drive right there, you can ride with your mountain bike and then continue to the Zillertal, you can even stay there over night and climb on the top of one of the Mountains surrounding the hut, in winter take the toboggan or snowshoes with you or you can co cross-county skiing ...
Among the locals this Alpine hut is famous for its giant Wiener Schnitzel.

Has a Terrace Seating arrangement with a cute little playarea for kids!! Must say the personnel here are very friendly...our lil mouse got special kid friendly cutlery which put a smile on her face and made her feel special!! We were welcomed with warm and friendly smiles, and the fine service continued through our excellent meals. Several traditional dishes such as tafelspitz and trout were well done in a classic but light manner. Wide range of Austrian & Italian wines available. Reservations advised as the 50 seats usually fill quickly.

The title says it all. My parents eat there 4 times in the week they are in Austria. It's good (beware: not very good!), a lot and cheap. The total package made me give the top rating, but some dishes aren't that good. Especially the cordon bleu was mediocre. The fish was excellent.

Right outside the Schwaz Silver mine entry (an attraction in Tyrol that I recommend), we were happy to see this nice restaurant. A good lunch under 25 €. The mix grill was served in a wooden mine carriage, a nice touch.

China-Restaurant Mandarin

Reviewed By Shavan B - Reith im Alpbachtal, Austria

This is a restaurant which I visit very often. Being relatively close to home, this place is an easy pick for me and my wife. While it is a Chinese restaurant, the food is greatly modified to suit local tastebuds. So, if one is expecting a true authentic Chinese cuisine as you would find in Beijing, Hong Kong or Taiwan then please drop those expectation. It's a good place to break the monotony of your taste buds
So lets start with the menu. The menu has a lot to offer and the restaurant doesn't disappoint you with it. I hardly remember if I have ever been told that they cannot serve me a particular order because they don't have it in stock. There are lots to offer for vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike and none can complain. The fried chicken wings with the spicy chilli sauce is a must try for starters along with the spring roll. The duck, chicken, beef, pork and lamb items are also good but sometimes it seems that the sauce is the same be it chicken, lamb, beef or pork. So, I usually have a fixed menu for myself.
The service timelines are very good and the customers are not kept waiting long for the food. So no complains there. However, attending to the customers are sometimes very patchy. There are only 1 or 2 people who looks to take good care of the customers but most often I have had to get up from my table and call for them to place my order or ask for the bill. Having said this the staff in this restaurant is very polite and courteous and they will not disappoint.
A great area of disappointment is I have is in their variety of the buffet spread which they have every Saturday afternoon. I moved to Austria in Jan 2014 and from that time till now, I see the same spread on the buffet menu. Oysters, fried duck, fried beef in a spicy sauce, chicken with vegetables, fried rice, noodles, sushi, deep fried shrimps. This can be very boring and at times the quality of the buffet is not the best. Hence, I no longer try the buffet but prefer the Al-a-carte as I find it better.
So finally this is a restaurant I dont mind going again however would stick to the menu card rather than the buffet and again if one is expecting authentic Chinese you will surely be disappointed but if you go with an open mind, you will definitely enjoy the food. The only reason why I have rated average is because of the buffet and patchy service.

Japanisches Restaurant Mimi

After having passed by this Japanese restaurant many times, I finally decided to drop by for some Japanese food. So, lets start with the service and ambience first.
Upon entering the restaurant and looking at the decor, one would not feel like they are in a Japanese restaurant. It's decked up like any other restaurant except for some photographs of food. The service was very prompt and also someone who does not speak German should not have a problem. The hostess did speak understandable English. The menu card did have a lot of variety to offer to their guests but one should also notice that it has a section containing list of some Chinese and Thai items. This one is a little off-beat for me. Having said that, there is definitely a lot of Japanese food items listed. So, it wont cause any heart burn. So on these two parameters I would rate them a 3.5/5 (3 for the menu and 0.5 for the decor).
Now coming to the food. Since, I have never tasted pure Japanese cuisine before, I thought be wise to take a platter containing a little Chinese and a little Japanese (I hate wasting food and this platter is highly recommended for like minded individuals). This is where he menu came to my unknown rescue. Hence, I ordered myself a mixed platter of braised beef in teriyaki sauce, Sushi, Sasimi and white rice. My wife preferred to stay safe and she ordered stir fried chicken & vegetables in Schezwan sauce with white rice. The food was served in a timely manner and we did not have to wait long. This was definitely good service.
Now here comes the main part. The aspect which builds a reputation for a restaurant - The food. So folks, the food was good but definitely not overwhelming. The braised beef was well cooked and the teriyaki sauce was nice. The Sushi and Sasimi were good as well. The wasabi sauce which was accompanied the Sushi and Sasimi was very pungent and I had to keep my Cola handy. The stir fried chicken & vegetables in Schezwan sauce was good too and the quantity was quite filling. My wife could not finish the entire portion, so we packed the left over home. Overall, the food was good. I will rate them 3.5/5
Lastly on the pricing, I think the prices are quite economical, on par with other restaurants serving Asian food in the vicinity. So, this should not cut your pockets.
Based on the above, here is my final verdict - A nice average restaurant which can be definitely be visited again and is recommended for an occasional visit.
PS: My review is based only on the 2 food items which we ordered.
