My husband and I recently completed our honeymoon in Morocco and France. We made it a point to eat at multiple "must do" Michelin star restaurants. This was our favorite. The ingredients were fresh, inventive, and amazingly delicious. My only disappointment was having to eat at other restaurants after Troisgros.

We had a family meal here after a civil wedding ceremony in the town hall. The food was delicious. I really could not fault a single course, the prawns to start were particularily good. The staff were very attentive without being intrusive and looked after everybodies needs. The dessert went downa treat with everyone and like all other dishes was served beautifully. Overall we had a fantastic experience, really enjoyed the food and left happy. I would highly reccomend this restaurant for an enjoyable meal in Roanne.

We went to Roanne with our family for Troisgros. We arrived about 1:00 pm and the hotel recommended the Astree for lunch. Really extraordinary. Very warm welcome. Excellent wine list with local wines featured. Very enthusiastic wine steward. Food and service were excellent. As Michelin might say, worth the detour.

An interesting and friendly locale, food is reasonably innovative, fresh ingredients and well prepared.
Service polite, attentive but not intrusive....could perhaps have been a little more engaging but it was a Saturday night and the place was full....and full of locals not tourists so also a good indication of local acceptance.
Wine list sufficiently varied and reasonably priced though given the current state of the economy could have offered greater selections at the economy end of the spectrum but then again as I say it was full so maybe I'm just a bit picky and as I write this from southern Spain my observations are a bit prejudiced as dining out here is HALF the price of France!
Anyway we liked the Remparts and would go back anytime.

THIS is a VERY good restaurant. The decor and furniture on the terrasse is simple but very nice - could be painted/renewed, sufficient food, it is an open kitchen, quantities are enough and very well decorated, menus change every week, sympathetic staff ... it COULD...MoreWe thank you for your opinion left on this site and hope to re-examine you very soon in our establishment Greedy greetings. It's always hard to down rate a nice restaurant with great friendly staff, an utterly charming and passionate chef who visits your table to personally explain his menu and great food...it's just that the place is overly expensive for what 's delivered and the wine list needs overhauling, way too expensive.
We had a lovely evening tough it lacked atmosphere being an unusually quiet Friday night and only 5 other diners the whole night. needless to say the service was perfect and the staff delightful. The charcuterie board was good but not exceptional apart from the price! The pasta with calamari tasty and very well prepared but it's pasta and while the sauce was light and flavours subtle its just hard to see the price justified. I mentioned the wine list already so we ended up with a carafe of local wine, quite drinkable but 'd like to have seen a better priced range of local and regional wines.
We'll go back and try the lunch menu and see if there's better value there. Otherwise, a pleasant evening but at over a hundred and five euros for two with a carafe wine I'd be expecting a lot more. Make your own minds up..........

This was entirely unexpected: a Parisian style high-class brasserie directly opposite the railway station. It was wet and miserable outside when I arrived off the train at lunchtime, but with no reservation. They took pity on me, and gave me a table with a view of myself in an enormous gilt mirror. The prix fixe menu was still available, so I chose from that: a little vegetable tart, followed by what I believe was ox tongue, very delicate and tender, in a nicely piquant sauce. The service was efficient, and the cooking was very good. A little pricy, but worth it -- and not at all what one usually finds opposite the railway station in a small French town.

I got my impression of France including through this restaurant. Restaurant with the name from childhood. Le Petit Prince. It was pleasant suprise in our travelling-to find this restaurant! We had here wonderful evening! Friendly atmosphere, nice interior, impeccable service and that most important- delicious food, fantastic Deserts and excellent choice of vines. It would be nice to come here again, to this marvelous place, to this Terrace which will work in the summer..

Most folks go to Roanne for their (deservedly) Michelin starred meal at Troisgros. We stayed at the hotel connected with this restaurant, but after 2 weeks of self gorging, did not think we could appreciate the finer culinary efforts of the restaurant. So, the pleasant...Morethank you so much we enjoy to welcome you next time best regards

Good friends recommended this colourful and busting Italian eatery to us, though some years since they were here it was a risk....we needn't have worried, it was excellent. Within minutes of arriving the place was full of locals and not a tourist in sight - a good sign.
The menu was diverse with an interesting and different selection of choices for the risottos, pastas and pizzas than usually found in Italian restaurants. Our table had a selection of all these dishes - the pizza dough was perfect, the pastas home made and all were fresh, well prepared , and utterly delicious. The wine list varied and moderately priced with something for most palattes. We finished with gelato what else! Overall an excellent good value meal with charming and helpful staff in a bustling and vibrant venue. We booked again for next week!
