This is the best Mexican restaurant that I have been to in Colombia AND the USA. After mass we went there yesterday with our son and ordered margaritas but was told it was "La Seca" which means election weekend and they couldn't sell alcohol (Colombian law). After we ordered the Camarones Picoso for 30,000 COP (which were AMAZING) they told us they would sell us liquor so we order margarita doubles (22,000 COP) which were incredible. We then ordered the Fajitas for 32,000 which were excellent. The sauces are fresh and made at the restaurant as are the chips which are fried fresh and not greasy. Their hot sauce is amazing and contains 8 different spicy peppers - my wife and son thought it was very hot but I thought it was great and finished the whole container. Looking at the bill I see they charges 2500 for extra black beans and chips which they initially gave us free - and I was kind-of bummed that they charged extra for this.

Quant location nestled between a couple of businesses. However, the food is phenomenal!!! Deliciously crafted local dishes at reasonable prices when taking into account the dollar conversion. Beautifully decorated restaurant transports you to a typical village atmosphere.

It doesn't get more authentic than this. This is the real paisa food and great prices. Another restaurant Queareparaenamorarte has the same food for 3 times the price. Their menu of the day is 10,000 COP and comes with fresh juice, soup, rice or potatoes or fries, selection of meat - pork or beef, large salad, half a fried plantain and a large bowl of soup. This is almost too much food to eat for one person. Local beers are 2500 and they take Visa and MasterCard. They have 2 locations - one near Don Diego and one on Las Palmas near KM25.

We came across this lovely restaurant while on our way from Medellin to Guatape on a family holiday in Colombia. We were first struck by the very friendly welcome from the staff, and were delighted to find English (very good English!) was spoken. The food was plentiful and delicious and, of course, very reasonably priced. The huge portions satisfied the appetites of the hungry young men in our party and there was an excellent choice to suit all tastes. It is set in stunning scenery and yet is conveniently set just off the main highway through the countryside. Would definitely recommend to all types of travellers. Good luck!

They are located in Retiro - in the same mall as Parilla de Paucho and Trivilis across the street from the Exito. We arrived Sunday and being German I really wanted to check out German food. The menu was very basic with 2 kinds of sausage, smoked trout and ham hock. We decided to split one of the sausage platters which was 31,500. It came with sauerkraut and a bunch of pan fried sliced potatoes. Lots of calories and fat. The food was good but nothing was incredible. The service was good but no one came to clean the table when we were done. No one also offered us beer after we finished our initial beers. We had Pilsen the local beer and I think it was 5000 COP. They had German beers - but you could buy the same beer at Carulla in Rionegro. They take credit cards as well.

We arrived around 12:30 and were immediately greeted by Chef Pacho who is also the owner. He told us he promises his beef would be the best ever or we would get our money back. The restaurant has an excellent selection of wine and several beers as well as a full bar. We ordered two of the local beers - Pilsen for 4,000 COP ($1.60 US) and they were excellent and ice cold. We then split the Punta de Anca for 28,000 COP ($13) and enjoyed the salad bar which was very fresh and clean for 8,500 COP. The beef came out and was mouthwatering - with the aroma an juices flowing all over the beef. The meat basically would melt in your mouth. Chef Pacho (Francisco) came out and asked us how everything was as did the waiter. It was an incredible meal, reasonably priced and they take credit cards.

This restaurant is right around the corner from us on Las Palmas. The design of the building incorporating the scenery of the Mountains is amazing. They have a deck with multiple levels and a built in fire pit with outdoor gas heaters making this a great place to hang out at in the evenings as it gets chilly here at night. The inside has a nice cozy fireplace with a pool and game area for the kids. This is basically like a typical farm house in the area. The service is great and the food very good. Their pizza (and prices) are a little high - Piccolo is expensive compared to Domino's which has a better quality pizza for maybe half the cost but none the less you are paying for the environment as well. A pizza for two with 5 toppings is 34,500 COP (about 16 dollars) and since the crust is so thin it isn't real filling. We also tried their beef with cheese on top and it was Ok but who comes to a pizza place to order steak? They have free WiFi and of course take plastic. Oh, they are only open on Thu/Fri/Sat/Sun unless there is a holiday then they are open on Mon. Of course they are open the week of Easter and Christmas. There are better places as far as food and value but the view and design of this restaurant is amazing. And they have a large expanded area for kids as well.

There are many places to get great steaks in the area and this is one of the better places. If you want amazing beef that melts in your mouth this is the place. We arrived on Fathers day - Colombia was playing in the Copa match and the place was filled. We did find a table in the front and immediately ordered the local beers which were 4,500 COP. We were then given some crispy fried plantains and sauce. My wife and I split a steak which was amazing and served with fries - 400 grams for 34,000. It basically melt in our mouths.. The salad bar is 6500 COP and while small is very good and clean. The chef and staff comes around numerous times asking how everything is and if they can get you anything else. Service, location and quality. Amazing. They do need to increase the size of the area - maybe taking some space from the Sushi place next door which is larger and never has any customers....

Along one of the curves stretching from El Retiro to Llanogrande is Samborondón, a cozy restaurant with an inviting indoor dining room and outdoor Seating, both sporting stylish tablecloths. The restaurant's name seems to refer to an upscale town in the Guayas province of Ecuador, near Guayaquil, stemming originally from the Spanish San Borondón (St. Brendon), a name that spread through Latin America.
You will find the place is most convivial on weekends and holidays. Otherwise you may find yourselves the lone diners. This is probably because the menu can be pricey, especially for seafood selections, which are always more expensive in Antioquia.
Previously we've enjoyed the Tapas Ibérica, various Croquetas and the Gazpacho Andaluz, all very nice. This recent visit, I wanted to see how the mainstay Tortilla Española compared to my humble effort. The omelet, finished over onions and potatoes was extremely good.
My entrée was the seafood Fideuà, a Valencian pasta version of Paella made with fideo (noodle). This was very rich and satisfying, with a fair amount of sea bass, mussels, calamari and prawns.
My partner chose from the grill, a thick and juicy Solomito (Sirloin) served with baked potato garnished with lettuce, tomatoes, carrots and cauliflower and the ubiquitous arepa (corn cake bread). The meat was exquisite.
I opted for a glass of their red Sangría as beverage--it was probably the best I've had in Colombia, loaded with chopped apples.
Somborondón is definitely figuring among my favorite places in the Rionegro suburbs, vying as far as seafood with my Peruvian favorite Piscos y Mariscos in Llanogrande
