I had dinner at this restaurant but I was expecting a tipical Austrian dinner. Pleasant discovery, the location is in front of the Wallersee and the view from there is really pleasant. The atmosphere is elegant and the staff is competent. We had some tasteful dishes of fish (not steak and pommes!!!) -the quality of food was high....probably due to the fact that fish comes from the close lake! Also wines and desserts were tasty. I really recommend this place if you are in the nearby.

Top Chef Emanuel Weyringer at Wallersee-lake combines high-level professionalism with his own special creativity - finest italian cuisine combined with regional products and Asian fusion - amazing! The location is beautiful - outdoor-seating on the Terrace viewing the lake. Excellent wines, perfect and very friendly service headed by Emanuel's wife Susi.
We will always return.

I left Austria in 1968 and had frequent visits to my home town Neumarkt am Wallersee.
Gasthaus Kienberg has been re-modelled and refurbished and looks absolutely fantastic. I was lucky to visit on 3 occasions during my short stay in May/June 2014. The meals were fantastic from your normal Austrian fare to the Beuschl with Knoedel etc. The Beer was not expensive and the Wine selection was excellent. The Views, the Sunsets, the people: Fantastic. 10 out of 10.
Thanks Martin and Gerlinde. Close to Salzburg and beautiful countrysides.

We both started with a lovely bowl of Pumpkin soup topped with roasted pumpkin seeds.
My partner had the roasted corn-fed chicken breast on a bed of wild mushrooms, herbed tagliatelle in a cream sauce. I opted for the prawn spaghetti arrabiatta which wasn't spicy but had plenty of flavour albeit slightly oily.
We had a lovely bottle of Austrian red wine, €25. Followed by an Italian version of Jaegermeister called Fernet Branca. Unfortunately this wasn't to our taste, it was like a minty mouthwash. The waitress repeatedly topped up our jug of water which was helpful. Total bill including an extra round of drinks came to €69. I had to get this restaurant listed on Tripadvisor as they didn't have it showing.

We were staying in the area for 3 nights and visited this restaurant on two of them (Friday and Sunday). On the first night we both had lake fish (my wife had Saibling and i had Reineke). Excellent. Flavoursome crispy skin covered perfectly cooked fish. We followed this by sharing a Kaiserschmarrn. We thorughily recommend trying it and sharing it as it is very filling. On our second visit my wife again had fish while I tried gthe game ragout which was accompanied by excellent semmelknodle (bread dumplings). I had marillenknodel for dessert. This was just delicous!

We had a lunch here, surrounding is fantastic, but food is mediocre. All is vegetarian and we have no problem with that, but be aware, it is not obvious. Fries were mediocre. Drinks fine, off course.
