We had an excellent dinner in Casa Velha. The staff was helpful and very nice and the food was great. We had fresh codfish fried fillet with cockle rice, it was fantastic. The white wine sangria was very good and also the desert was tasty. If you are in Lousã go have dinner here, you won't regret.

D Sesnando

Reviewed By GoneForLong - Antwerp, Belgium

We arrived here for lunch on recommendation of our friends (Belgians living in Lousa) as one of their favorite restaurants. As always in Portugal people seem to prefer lunch over dinner. We had an excellent experience at D Sesnando. We took the gratinated goat cheese 'Queijo Rabacal' a little pastry bottom with excellent cheese and little honey. For main we had the delicious Bacalhau Donna Ninna, fabulous onion sauce and fine crisply baked potatoes. Accompanied with two nice glasses of white wine, bread, olives ... all for 31 euro. This was our best Portugese meal ever!!

This time disappointing. As a regular visitor I notice that the restaurant is not as good as it once was. Ordered the Prato do dia for two. Very thick soup which was tasteless. Roast pork which tasted as if it was reheated with very course vegetables. The other dish was fish which was also tasteless and cold. On top of that a dispute about the bill despite the offerings being "all inclusive".Staff friendly though.

Standard Portuguese simple restaurant crammed at lunchtime with locals. Prato de Dia with soup, main course, carafe of house wine, bread and coffee included € 6.- per person. Excellent value. Good quality well prepared meat and a crispy side salad too. But...some staff not very friendly and the food was only lukewarm. If these shortcomings would be addressed I would rate the restaurant as "Very Good".

During our walking trail from Coimbra to Fatima we stayed two nights in this B&B and ate in the small restaurant where the very friendly owner Lucia serves a terrific goat and other local dishes. The B&B/restaurant is situated in a very small, quiet mountain village in the Schist Mountains. Lots of walking trails in the neighborhood.

We have visited this restaurant many times over the years - not just for lunch when generally the restaurant is busy with locals but also in the evenings when it's quieter .
The host is gracious and welcoming trying his best to interpret my broken Portugese and helping with his "tourist English" .
They serve a variety of hearty local Portugese meals and the soup of the day is always excellent . Never once haven we left here feeling hungry and we always feel that we have had value , lunch for 5 with three courses , drinks and wine for 40Euros .
Charming host , good food , great value
