We drove into Marugame Prefecture and TripAdvisor pointed us to this No.1 ranking restaurant.
The Oyadori (see attached English menu photo) should not be tried by anyone wearing denture, it's just too tough.
The Himadori, on the other hand, is really tender and less oily and less salty.
However after I have eaten, knowing what I now know, I would not have entered in the first place.

金倉寺そばにある人気店、どの時間でも混みあっていますが駐車場も広く店内の座席も多く回転もよいので思っているほどは待ちませんでした。
カウンターで注文して茹で上がりを案内された席で待っていると順番に番号で呼ばれます。
シンプルな釜揚げうどんですがたれをつけずに食べてもおいしいです。
好みに合わせてたれをつけながらおいしくいただきました。

It's very good "Sanuki udon" restaurant. "Sanuki" means the old name of this region. The most popular dish is "Hiya-ten (Cold udon with tempra). The price is 972yen and it's quite reasonable price. It was very nice for us and we believe it suits your taste even if you haven't experienced Japanese udon. I recommend another kind of udon, Kama-ten(straight-from-the-pot udon with tempura). The price is same. You must be prepare for the line to eat because it is a very popular restaurant and you can't book the seat. Enjoy !

My friend and I ordered the toriten bukkake udon. Toriten is chicken tempura and for bukkaje udon, the broth is served separately so you can pour it on yourself.
This was some of the most delicious udon I have ever had! It was also very reasonable. I paid ¥550 for my udon and I was really full. I will definitely go back the next I'm in Marugame!!
I had lunch here after visiting Marugame Castle. It was about a 10 minute walk.

HONE-TSUKI-DORI (the spicy grilled whole chicken leg) has been served here.
This HONE-TSUKI-DORI matches very well with beer !
Since I had it for the first time, I love it with beer.
This restaurant is located just near to the north entrance of JR Marugame Station.
It’s about 5 minutes walk from the JR Marugame Station.
Very convenient.
If you like chicken,
I recommend this restaurant.
In the restaurant, a credit card is accepted.

Magokoro is always my first choice restaurant on a two-day speciality udon-tour. The restaurant is quite large, when you walk in, choose the extra tempura at the counter and walk on to find a seat further down behind the kitchen. Early in the morning it may already be crowded with workers from the dock yards. Agood place to start the day, and serving excellent food.

本日三杯目のうどんです。タイトルは忘れましたが以前観た映画でここが舞台になっていたのを思い出しました。。ここは注文を受けてから茹でるので2-3分待たされます。冷かけと肉コロッケにしました。ここは典型的な讃岐うどんよりも少し柔らかめです。

うどんもいいですがサクサクジューシーのとり天が最高なのです❗冷たいぶっかけとあっあっのとり天が最強タックなのですよここは地元民のうどん屋でわかりにくい場所に有りつい通り過ぎてしまいそうな所に有り外見は、ん～どうだろう？って感じですがうどんもとり天も旨いのですよお昼のうどんには最高なのです
