It was near Hyatt place where we stayed. We were a little early so not so crowded, we need people streaming and portions are huge.
The pan fried dumpling - guotie is very good though a little peppery
We ordered a fried meat balls which was poured into a soup based bowl, interesting but I find very little meat.
Hutumian- literally meddlehead noddles, came in a huge bowl and we cannot finish it. Not to our taste though was ok.
I see they have many other things on the menu, I guess if you point at what others are eating might be easier as we can read but no idea what each dish is
Go for trying some Luoyang stuff but I hesitated to try on the second night

WangFu Yu HuaYuan (ZhongZhou East Road)

I'm an American expat who had been working Luoyang and I found this great restaurant just around the corner from the Friendship Hotel where I was staying. The roast duck at Wangfu was as good as any I've ever had at the expensive places in Beijing or Shanghai, but only a fraction of the cost. I dinned alone my first time and was allowed to order 1/2 a duck which came with the typical thin pancakes, hoisin sauce, and sliced scallions. I also included a fresh crispy salad and cold Tsingtao beer and duck soup was brought at the end of the meal. The restaurant was clean and the service was decent although nobody seemed to speak English. Everything I ordered was great but the roast duck was especially delicious. My meal including the two large beers only set me back around 65 Yuan (around 10 US dollars). I have been back several times and now take my friends there as well. Wangfu restaurant is only a couple of blocks north of Peony Square and they have private rooms available for large or small groups. If you enjoy Peking style roast duck I highly recommend you give this restaurant a try.

ZhenBuTong Restaurant (ZhengHe Road)

Visited Luoyang with a tour group going to the White Horse Temple & Longman Grottoes. Our guide had arranged this stop for lunch & advised that we should expect quite different food than Xian (where we had come from). She was right.
Cold starters were waiting in our private room when we arrived. These included, tripe, kidneys, pigs ears in jelly, dried salted fish & beef. Most of our group at that point thought that vegetarianism looked like a good idea at this point & made the most of the various pickled vegetables that accompanied these starters.
Things looked up when the various soup dishes that Luoyang is apparently known for started showing up. There was a lovely & very colourful dish of noodles, some shaved meats, sprouts & a few other things (noted in several of the pictures in reviews of this restaurant). There was also a lovely chicken ball soup (like Bakso Stan in Indonesia), a tasty spicy fish soup, chicken & corn (with whole chicken wings & whole cobs of corn) &a nice mushroom soup.
The most memorable dish however was the turtle soup - with the turtle's head & neck still tucked into its shell. Only the most adventurous of our group gave it a shot. It wasn't too bad - but I wouldn't try it again.
The dishes just keep coming including a number of sweet soups, such as sugar soup!
The staff were very attentive & coped well with our odd group of English speakers. There was just too much!
It was one of the most interesting dining experiences I've ever had - but not one of the best.

Been there a few times, you wouldn't go there for food and drinks (which are not bad anyway, try the waffles), but the environment is relaxing, quiet, and closes down later in the evening (later than the shopping mall it is in). Good for meeting friends, Reading, chatting. Centrally located within the Today shopping mall.
