We were so impressed by our first meal, we decided on the spot to return the next night. The service was friendly, food delicious, very good house retsina, and setting idyllic. The second night was good, but a bit spoiled by the meat in my spicy pitta. there was a lot of inedible gristle, greatly appreciated by the local cats, but lowered my rating to 'very good' overall. The chef should have been able to see this, and trimmed it off before cooking. took the shine off an otherwise splendid tavern.

As with the previous review below, we visited this restaurant on our first night in Amorgos, the board advertising all the specials of the day drew us in, the setting was great along side the harbour front... from the moment we sat down, things got from bad to worse.
The restaurant was not particularly busy however 10 minutes before someone took our drinks order and a further 20 minutes before he came back with the drinks and took the food order, no apology, no Hint of a smile - it was as if we was inconveniencing him with us being there, no recommendation etc. Starter came quickly we ordered the saganaki (I love saganaki and had it a few times here in Greece) but this was very greasy (not olive oil) but very stodgy, and we also had the tomato croquettes which were dry.
A further 25 minute wait for our mains (lamb which was extremely chewy and fatty) and pasticho which was hot in the middle but freezing on the outside (obviously microwaved), we finished our main course and waited for the table to be cleared, however by this point we had been sat down for over 2 hours so we had to go inside to pay for the bill - over €50 !
This place is A Trap for tourists and not a true reflection of amorgon hospitality. We won't be returning to this eatery and neither should you give it a try. Instead walk in the back streets and head to a true Greek taverna.

This very friendly taverna is located at the harbor in Katapola not far from where the Skopelitis Ferry stops.The menu is wide and not only Greek.The individual salads are served in big bowls(big for European standards)and are delicious!There is an indoor hall but I advice to eat outside under the patio overlooking the lovely Katapola bay.You will have your meals accompained by traditional Greek music .

This family run taverna serves delicious food. Owner and chef Nicos and his wife are very friendly and the servings are very large. Good location, comfortable chairs, extensive menu with lots of options and great views. The Beef in Tomato Sauce, grilled sardines and Lamb...Morethank you

If you go to Amorous, you thing about the movie "the big blue" so you make a stop in that tavern. Nice and friendly.

We came across this place by accident for a spot of lunch - then returned for a milk shake in the afternoon.
While we only had a simple lunch meal, it was well presented, service was very good without any hurry and good views over the Chora while eating.
Also, there are many books and magazines for the Reading - and the milk shakes were very good. Would most certainly make a bee-line for this place if in the area again

Great service, friendly people, great food! We went at 11pm and people were more than happy to serve us. Would definitely recommend the makarones. They were nice enough to make a custom dish (pasta) for my friend according to her likes, which was great. Definitely coming back.

We visited this seafront taverna after an afternoon of swimming in Katapola, the ambience of the restaurant was good and there were plenty of locals in which is always a good sign.
We had a light lunch of feta, tzaziki and potato garlic purée along with the grilled calamari which was fresh and delicious. Overall a good spot although we thought the calamari was overpriced at nearly €10.

Photos don't do justice to this beautiful oasis with its shady flowered Terrace, great service, great food and drink. It was love at first sight and tho we were staying in Katapola we found ourselves heading to Chora almost every day to eat, drink and just soak in the ambiance here. Besides the food (try any of the salads or specials of the day, green falafels (made with fresh herbs), their home made lemonade kept us coming back. Gorgeous find; fantastic value.

Four of us decided to have lunch here on the day we visited. We couldn't decide what we wanted, so we ordered a number of things. Everything we ordered was great.
The setting was lovely, the service was good, and the food was everything we could hope for! We probably ordered too much, as the table was not big enough for all the food we ordered. I don't regret any of it! Stop by here if you're here. Just when we thought we had enough, we were served a complimentary dessert, which was worth every calorie.
