Den Helder ( pronunciation (help·info)) is a municipality and a city in the Netherlands, in the province of North Holland. Den Helder occupies the northernmost point of the North Holland peninsula. It is home to the country's main naval base. From here the Royal TESO ferryboat service operates the transportation link between Den Helder and the nearby Dutch Wadden island of Texel to the north.

We only stayed one night, but the staff were really helpful and the views were brilliant. We ate in the restaurant and the food was delicious and not overly priced, which was a great change.
The rooms were large and comfortable again with wonderful views over the harbour entrance.
The only downside was breakfast....not much choice, but it filled a gap.

Known by the locals as the Italian restaurant to go to, i am very sorry: no, no, no!
It looks used, and has become so big that it is not the cosy restaurant anymore I knew a decade ago.
Was the food bad: no, but was it special: no! Although the staff is friendly and doing their best to serve quickly, they cannot manage it.
But for a lot of people it stays the place to go to for dinner. Sorry, i will not go again.

There are not many restaurants in this lovely little town. But I really feel De Oude Gast could try harder..... Had a Caesar salad. Full full full of crostini .... Terrible. Ask for salad without the crostini...

I travel to Den Helder a lot on business, sometimes with colleagues, sometimes on my own. The Nogal Wiedus always makes me very welcome. The food is well cooked and straight forward; e.g. fish and chips, burger, pasta, sate. The service is very good with a drink order being taken quickly and then food following quickly. The staff are very friendly and will chat when time allows, which is really great if you're on your own for a few days. So thanks to Donna, Dana and Theresa (to mention a few names I remember) for looking after me. It's not just a business place to eat. I've seen families, friends and couples eating there.

During our 2-weeks stay in Den Helder we went 3 times to Da Gino. The food (we had Pizza, Pasta, Risotto an desserts) was very good, the staff was very nice and helpful and they all spoke a very good English. The prizes of the...MoreGrazie..... arrivederci.

This is conveniently located along one of Den Helder's main streets. It was sunny and relatively warm outside, which made for a nice, relaxing atmosphere as I enjoyed my house burger on the Terrace situated on the dividing median. Recommend the local beer (Texels). Good experience, friendly service.

This Thai restaurant has delivered some of the best Thai food I have eaten outside of Thailand. I had a green curry, that was marked with the maximum spiciness. And surprisingly enough, it was actually spicy! I also loved the presentation with vegetable crisps, because presentation is usually a bit of a challenge with Asian food. So I loved this attention to detail. Also, the curry had a beautiful hint of coriander, which made the taste really come to life. Den Helder is not the most logical of all touristic destinations, but once there: be sure to check out this Thai restaurant!

Made a reservation for 11 persons after reviewing feedback on TA. I wasn't dissapointed, in fact I was very pleased by the staff, food and location. Restaurant is located next to Some Nice musea. Food was fresh and tasteful, most of us had the chicken skewer with peanut sauce. Staff could stop by a bit more often to check for sufficient beverages etc.

The theme of this restaurant is interesting, the tapas format of having many plates of food also interesting. The tastes of some of the dishes were quite bland, but there were a few that were very good as well.
The service was sub par, and the waitress gave them impression that she would rather be anywhere but there.
I don't think that I would go back here again.
