Like the hotel itself, the restaurant is beautifully appointed and very elegant. Our service was very attentive and our meals were wonderful. We started with a rissoto appetizer, had a sorbet intermezzo and then well prepared Irish beef for our main course. We finished with a creme brulee. Everything was excellent, start to finish. We had a simply wonderful evening!

This is pretty much a follow on from my review of Dromoland Castle. After a disappointing meal in Dromoland Castle, we decided to strike further afield and eventually decided on Gallagher's in Bunratty. The Restaurant was nearly full when we arrived, but we were seated straightaway. We ordered an aperatif, which came very quickly. No disappointments there!
Both our starters were very nice (Chowder and Mussels).
The Main courses were absolutely delicious. My wife's black sole on the bone meuniere was huge and tasted delicious. My monkfish was also first class.
Two coffees completed the meal, which I can only describe as first class.
All in all a lovely meal deserving of praise

We called into The Creamery on Sunday evening to have a drink. It was packed with family's and very busy. The barman made me two great hot ports. I was very impressed. We liked the ambience and returned on Monday evening for dinner. It was very quiet ( just the way we like it ). The food was excellent and staff very friendly and professional. Good value food.

Noel's at The Manor

We here at the Manor are all about good food, fresh produce and great customer service. We wouldn't pride ourselves on anything else.

Everything about the The Manor is fabulous from the welcome at reception to leaving. My partner & I were out for a special meal to celebrate our anniversary. Our order was taken before we were taken to our table. We didn't have to wait for food. They remembered that I was coeliac from the last time I was there ( only once before ) & had lovely gluten free bread. Almost every dish can be cooked to suit me which was a welcome change. The food was amazing also the wine. Noel went around to every table to make sure we were all happy. We really enjoyed our trip to the Manor. Thank you

Two courtyards surrounded by craft workshops- gold maker, ceramics, candle making, flowers, kids clothes and more in Ballycasey near Shannon town makes a pleasant wander. The Rosen Berry offers sustenance usually in daylight hours but on this occasion a sign said 'gone gallivanting'. The tourist season starts with Paddys day and I hope it will be open for them. I missed my coffee and cake! Next time.

Sophie's Bar & Bistro

Reviewed By Michael B

We stayed in the Oakwood Hotel this past weekend and ate in Sophie's Bar and Bistro on Friday and Saturday night!
We went for Food in Sophies Bar (Hotel Bar) on Friday at about 9.15pm - the food stops at 9.30pm. We were seated straight away and ordered food which came out within 10 minutes. I had a Burger and Chips and my Husnad had the Pork Belly. The Burger was lovely, nothing special but everything you would expect from Bar Food except it was even tastier. The Pork Belly was gorgeous and tender.
On Saturday evening we took advantage of the 3 Course Meal included in our package and sat down in Sophies Bar at about 8.45pm. The bar was lively at this stage and a Piano Man was setting up!
For Starters we had the Fish Cake and my Husband had the Chowder. Both were delicious. The Fish cake was a little bit on the dry side but the Lemon Wedge provided soon fixed that.
For Mains my Husband had the Sea Bass (He loved it) and I just had Fish and Chips. The Fish and Chips were very nice, it's a standard dish so not much you can do with it but it was present beautifully and served fresh and hot!
For dessert he had Ice Cream and I had the Lemon Meringue Pie. The Meringue wasn't hard which I know is how some people prefer it (Like me haha) but it was still very tasty and served with Ice Cream and Cream.
We stayed in the bar then through the night. The Piano Man was very enjoyable, taking requests and seemed to have a great relationship with the locals.
Throughout our Meal and Drinks, we were looked after perfectly by Breeda all night! She was a real stand out member of staff throughout our stay although all staff we encountered were very nice.
