Arany Kaviar Restaurant

The restaurant of Attila Molnár and Szása Nyíri is waiting for their guests for more than 20 years already.Arany Kaviár is considered one of the best fine dining restaurants. They improve Russian cuisine. They prepare traditional dishes with contemporary methods, the way we like them. For five years the restaurant is recommended by the Michelin guide.Accordingly, one of the cornerstones of the menu is the “Traditional Russian cuisine”, the true and worthy representatives of the classic cuisine of the court of the Czars. The dishes are based on traditional Russian recipes, preserving their authentic feel, but are prepared with modern techniques and ingredients. The dishes are not reinvented, but improved. The other pillar of the menu is the wide selection of marine and Freshwater “Fish dishes”, and their diverse compilations. The premium quality and year-round availability of domestic fishes are guaranteed by our close cooperation with fisheries; and our carefully selected seafood is supplied by the fish market of Strasbourg. The third and most important pillar of the menu is the “Caviar Gourmet Menu”, and the Caviar Card, listing the caviars produced and distributed by the restaurant and the dishes prepared with them, thus demonstrating the versatility of the culinary utilization of caviar. The Arany Kaviár Gourmet Selection has represented and conveyed the philosophy and values of the restaurant within and outside its walls. The “Hungarian caviar” successfully debuted on the international market in 2011. On the largest and most prestigious hospitality exhibition, the SIRHA in Lyon, world-renowned chefs sampled Arany Kaviár’s product.

We dined at this magnificent restaurant at the start of our visit to Budapest. We were warmly greeted on our arrival and shown to our lovely table. The interior décor of this restaurant is rather lovely. After dining here, we were impressed by the quality of the food we had. The caviars were absolutely delicious, every mouthful was like a taste of paradise. The food was of a first class, as everything was seasoned beautifully to give amazingly fresh, delicious, natural flavours. The ingredients used tasting so fresh, there was a feeling of Eastern Europe was in our mouths. The tastes and flavours were sensational and natural. My wife enjoyed her fish dish, tasting so fresh and authentic in it's flavours, it felt as though it was a catch of the day, seasoned, cooked and served direct to her plate. The wines accompanying our meals were of a very good quality. The service was great with wonderful waiting staff. All in all it was a perfect start to our visit to Budapest, and we left extremely happy with our dining experience here, which was like a one night in heaven.

Worth looking for! Lovely little «hole in the wall», extremely friendly staff and fabulous hot chocolate! The mulled wine was also very nice! They also had quite a good selection of cakes, but we were on our way to lunch, so had to forego the temptations.

We had lunch at this place recently and it was a great surprise. We heard great things about this place and our expectations were already high when we got here but we were not disappointed for one second. The food was just incredible and the atmosphere made it even nicer.
We had the lamb goulash and the rabbit with ratatouille and both dishes were innovative and really, far beyond what we were expecting. It's nice to see that you can get quality food outside of Budapest and dishes that are not the easiest to find in the city itself either. They do takeouts as well so if you're in a hurry and passing by you can just stop and pick up your dinner on the way home alongside with some home-made chutney, jams, etc that are presented on the shelves next to the entrance. I think given the quality of food it's a good value for money to come here.
The service was fast yet a little bit phlegmatic which was the only downside for me but this is a common problem in Hungary unfortunately.
The place is not the easiest to get to by public transportation, only buses #22 and 222 go here from the city.

I visited this restaurant for a lunch on a weekday. I had not reserved a table ahead of time, but they accommodated me and I was promptly seated.
The menu is traditionally Hungarian. I ordered the Goulash.
Portion was the right size, hot, hearty and very tasty. Glass of cold beer has complemented it splendidly.
My lunch meal was very satisfying and very reasonably priced. I’ll be returning soon.

After sightseeing of St. Matthias church and Fisherman's Bastion we went to the pastry shop Ruszwurm. We were impressed with the ambiance of a family patisserie. It is just a few steps from St. Matthias church. The patisserie is quite small and cozy and has a nice glass case filled with delectable looking desserts. Because we love cakes this is a real paradise for the eyes and the palate. They have a variety of cakes, strudel and many more. We opted for Dobos Cake, Cheesecake, Esterházy cake, we were thrilled with excellent flavors. The staff were attentive, quality, discreet and professional. It is worth a visit.

Korosfoi Kurtoskalacs

Kurtoskalacs is one of the most popular pastries in Hungary and Transylvania. It is made from sweet, yeast dough (raised dough), of which a strip is spun and then wrapped around a cylindrical baking spit, and rolled in granulated sugar. It is baked until its surface gets a golden-brown color. During the baking process the sugar stuck on kurtoskalacs becomes caramel and forms shiny, crispy crust on the cake. The traditional version is served only with caramelised sugar or walnut, but we provide it also with additonal flavours such as coconut, cinnamon, vanilla and chocolate. It is a must if you visit Hungary/Budapest! :)

We stayed in Budakeszi with the sister of our friends for a couple of nights and visited a couple of restaurants. This was the first and there were three of us with mixed tastes. Mainly Italian menu. I had the gnocci with riccotta and spinach which I really enjoyed. It was well served and really hot with lots of bubbly cheese. I had ordered a mixed salad anticipating we would share it but I ended up eating it all myself. It was one of the best, and largest, salads I have had with a lovely mixture of really fresh and crispy veg and herbs. My wife was not as fortunate as she ordered the carbonara which was, let's say, not what we expected .
The atmosphere is lovely and although I did not eat desert myself the other two in our party both did and my wife who is an afficianado of Deserts said it was "to die for". I tasted both Deserts and they were, indeed, very very good.
The service was excellent, staff very friendly and although the carbonara was perhaps not the best choice I rated the food 4 stars as two from the three mains were excellent as were both desserts. The menu is very reasonably priced and if you like mainly Italian food it's a very convivial place Budakeszi is quite a lovely place to visit with lots of interesting parks and woodland walks.

Azóta többször is ettünk már itt, és sosem maradtunk éhesek. Kint a nagy üstben mindig valamilyen vadas étel fő, melyek finomabbnál finomabbak. Most vadpörköltet ettünk főtt burgonyával és csalamádéval. Rétes többféle ízben szinte mindig van.
