My dad and I ate here in May 2016; both of us got the three-course dinner special with excellent seafood casserole. Our waitress was friendly to us anglophones, and our experience was better than we expected.

Staff was very friendly- especially as our french is elementary. Food was plentiful and good-pricey. I had a greek salad and spanakapita- $20.

I like Mike's breakfast. Resonably priced and really good.

I would honestly give this place a rating of excellent, but because of one important detail, I had to take one "star" off. See details below
What I liked: Very friendly, attentive and personalized service. Good menu, premium food, great presentation. Charming "house" / restaurant. True, you would not expect to find such fine place in Baie-Comeau, and for that matter pretty much any place north of Quebec City, and the prices are extremely reasonable for what you are getting. The Waitstaff and "owners" know how to do their job properly
What to watch for/could be improved: Nothing. That said, there was a bit of a mix-up in the kitchen that led to me receive an appetizer that had an allergen that I had mention to the staff before hand. Just to be clear, the staff does take allergies extremely seriously and I would not expect it to happen under normal circumstances

The Manoir du Cafe - one of the more sophisticated eateries in Baie-Comeau, a small town in northern Quebec - was absolutely hopping when we came for lunch on a Saturday and you can see why. The service was quick and friendly and we enjoyed the food; my wife had a smoked salmon with cream cheese bagel while I tried the special of the day, a bacon and mushroom omelette. We ordered large cappuccinos to end the meal and received two great steaming bowls of coffee (see attached picture). For this, including tip, I paid $50 Canadian, which was good value. Be aware though they only take cash or debit card and their English is very limited.

Located on a small street, near a river, in the new part of town, looking at the building I started to question the rating on Trip Advisor. Don't be let the look of the building influence your choice (see photos) the meal I had was excellent. The concept is a three course fix price menus which I assume changes daily. On this Thursday night they had four choices of appetizers, four main and a desert plate starting at $24 (plus taxes & tip) depending on your selection. I selected the escargots which came with a cannelloni and the bacon rapt rabbit with a maple sauce which came with rich and creamy scallop-potatoes, to finish I received a dessert plate with five! different Deserts. All of the dishes were excellent, if you are in Baie Comeau make sure you visit this restaurant you will not regret.

This is the dinning room included in the hotel itself.
Our food was excellent...We had a fisherman's plate for two, and loved everything. Some veggies could have been cooked/grilled longer. The biggest downfall was that we had a waiter who was working in the dining room for the first time, and he had no training about the menu, proper service, and communicating with English speaking diners. We muddled through, but expected better.

Located in town centre and part of the Grand Hotel. Large central bar and then tables all around. Several large screen TV's for sport. Outside Terrace with table. It's a large place with a stage for live music. Looks like there would be a great atmosphere in here when the bands are playing. Modern drivel background music playing which was mindless dance beats, however I accept that I am not the target age. I ordered a bacon cheese Sandwich with fries. Very tasty although a little cold. Included generous side container of locally made mayonnaise that was really delicious. I wish I had the recipe. Very reasonable prices plus fast reliable free WiFi. Overall an OK place, but no local flavour in the decor nor the food.

The hotel recommended this pizzeria as there were closer places around us.
Ordering was a little difficult due to language barrier but ultimately we did order.
Delivery was FAST and we all agreed the pizza was fabulous!
The best surprise was there was Fudge for all of us at no extra cost and it was GOOD!

My husband is really into craft beers and was very pleased with the offerings here. As a gin drinker and somewhat reluctant microbrewery visitor, I was delighted to discover that they have an excellent cocktail list and even better, an extensive offering of some amazing Gins! If you like gin - try the Romeo Gin from Montreal - delicious! We were both happy. They also have a long list of whiskies.
We also enjoyed which is prepared in a tiny space right behind the bar. The offerings are locally sourced and have a definite French flair. I would describe it as being along the lines of Tapas with various options of "small" portions. We enjoyed sharing a small pizza, quesadilla & Duck rillete.
