I always like a place locals eat, too. Nice Mini meal of Fundy scallops grilled (7 scallops), onion rings, slaw and a big yummy homemade roll with real butter. 2 piece fish n chips with fries, slaw and roll.
Tarter sauce pickly tasting.
Fast service and clean. Walk from Headquarters camp at Fundy National Park

We had travelled through the National Park and were hungry for lunch. It was the end of the season and we were glad to see Saprano's open! The menu is just right, not too many items. We had a fresh delicious Ceasar salad, just right for two people. We ordered the 6" Hawaiian pizza, also just right for a quick lunch. The staff was very nice, the restaurant was bright and cheery.

This was an awesome place to stop for lunch before visiting Fundy National Park. The servers were all very friendly. Pretty much everything is homemade. We loved the soup and sandwiches that we tried. They also have gluten free bread. The day was lovely so we sat on the patio and relaxed beside the babbling brook. We would definitely go back!

Among all these good reviews, I hate to sound like a whiner. I am very easy-going and undemanding, and up till now have not posted a negative review.
But in all honesty, this was the most miseable meal I can recall enduring. My wife was excited about having lobster for the first time, and said hers was good. Mine was tasteless. Both of our side dishes, corn and baked potato, were awful. Corn apparently was steamed sometime last century and potato was only slightly fresher. All this would have been bearable were it not for the horde of flies that constantly harassed us on the covered patio, which is somewhat screened. Eating lobster is a two-handed job, made almost impossible when you need a third hand to keep flies off your food and a fourth to swat the flies off yourself. And if you decide to eat there anyway, here's a couple of tips; (1) use someone else's washroom before you use theirs, and (2) bring a flyswatter.

We were visiting Fundy National Park & wanted to enjoy lunch in the park. We stopped at Kelly's for some goodies. They made us a great Sandwich that was large enough to share. We bought a variety of cookies that were a great treat. The prices were very reasonable & the service was quick and friendly.
I wish we had skipped our complimentary hotel breakfast and visited Kelly's for a cinnamon roll- they looked divine!

Alma Boathouse

Reviewed By SkykomishBob - Olympia, Washington

I realize an excellent review should not depend upon one item, but this seafood chowder wasn't just the best in my experience, it was perhaps the best bisque/soup/potage/chowder course in my decades as a serious foodie. No lobster bisque I can recall matched this combination of flavor and richness. No bouilliabaisse could touch it in terms of chunks of seafood that were each rich and tasty. I do not want to spoil it for anyone by praising it to a level it will be a disappointment when you order it; arrive with an open mind and listen to what your taste buds et. al. tell you. My wife and I found it really special.
The other thing I loved about the place was the simple openness and warmth of our server and the rest of the staff. The three women waiting tables were mature enough to have been "slinging hash," as the phrase was when I was a lad, in the same place for decades. Our server explained at the top what items were not on the menu because it was near the end of the season. We heard another server tease a customer about being one order too late for the last portion of lobster bisque, then shout over to a different table, "That bisque was great, huh?" then say to the lady in front of her something like, "Sorry, honey, you missed it; you'll have to have the chowder, but you'll love it." These seemed like really honest people enjoying doing honest work and taking pride in providing excellent fare. Whatever sophistication this place lacks is more than made up for in honest concern that every diner have a good meal and a good experience.
My lobster roll was good, as these things go. The crostini that came with my wife's chowder was fine, but not particularly special. Our carafe of sauvignon blanc, on the other hand, seemed an outstanding value having just endured quite a bit of marginal wine at not marginal prices in Quebec.
If we were staying longer, I'd go back to the Boathouse for chowder for lunch tomorrow.

Collins Lobster Shop

Reviewed By John R

On Sunday, October 2/2016, while entertaining a first time visitor to Canada, Alma and Fundy National Park were must see destinations.
After an early morning visit to The Hopewell Rocks, an afternoon tour of Fundy Park and a gorgeous hike through Dixon Falls...there was only one thing on our minds.....
LOBSTER!!! (and Alma "Sticky Buns" of course)
It was supper time and the first week of October....as I was driving out of The Fundy Park a truly terrifying thought entered my mind:
"What if the lobster shops are closed for the season?" "Plus it is almost evening on a Sunday." "I may have dropped the ball completely and left my dear U.S. visitor without a feed of fresh Fundy lobster :-("
IMMEDIATELY I Googled "Alma Lobster" and made the call........
The person broke the news to me, "Sorry, no lobster for you!!" "All the shops are closed, sorry!!
Our hopes were dashed!! The fun, exciting day we were enjoying suddenly took a turn to sadness and despair.
With a sigh of consolation I said, "Well at least we can take home some world famous Sticky Buns from the Alma Bakery.
Suddenly I remembered there was a lobster shop right beside the bakery!! "Maybe....maybe it is open!!??"
I quickly asked my friend to scoot into the bakery for the buns while I jet over to the lobster shop>>>>
10 seconds later I see a horrifying sight: A lovely young couple peering into the "Closed" lobster shop. Our hopes were dashed as I witnessed the sad look on their faces as they drove away "lobsterless"
As I took one final look back (hoping against hope) I noticed something on the left side o0f the front window....
A home-made sign which read, "FOR SERVICE PLEASE CALL 887-2054"
I whipped out my phone and dialed the number and waited....one ring.....
I heard a friendly man's voice answer, "Collins Lobsters"
I gulped, "Are you, are you open right now?'
Michael Mitchell: "Yep"
Me: "Can we get some lobster from you today?"
Michael Mitchell: "Sure, I'll be right out."
(By this time my friend had come back from the bakery.)
Out walks Michael and happily opens the door for us and invites us in to choose our lobsters!!! YAY!!!
With a huge sigh of relief with joyfully selected our lobsters and took care of payment.
Michael was very courteous and seemed delighted to take care of two tired and famished travelers.
Thank God!
We also wish to thank Collins Lobsters and Michael Mitchell for being on point and
hanging out a sign basically saying, "We are closed right now, but we will open our doors if you drop by late."
Thank you so much!!
5 STARS!!!
PS We went home and thoroughly enjoyed those lobsters.
Did I mention we purchased a nice bunch of Scallops and Shrimp as well?
Saving some lobster for scrambled eggs the next morning was my friends brilliant idea.
Having bacon-wrapped scallops for supper and enjoying a lovely side pasta dish topped with shrimp was another fine idea from my American friend.
Thank you for Reading my "little" review and hopefully enjoying a trip to Alma , New Brunswick. :-)

Wharfside Patio

Reviewed By Toni D - Boulder, Colorado

We had lunch at the Wharfside Patio between a driving excursion and sea kayaking. We had basic burgers and fries which were great, fast and affordable. Their ice cream selections were excellent too. They have a small patio to dine there or food to go.
