Meseguer

Restaurante familiar, mas de 60 años de historia nos avalan. La calidad del producto y la atención al cliente es nuestra forma de entender la restauración.

This attractive restaurant is still one of the best in the whole Bajo Aragón, despite all the new competition and a marked improvement in general standards and creativity.
Fidel Meseguer and wife/chef Tremedal have passed the business on to their 3 sons, but the quality is still the same. There's an extensive a la carte menu but we chose the 3 course set lunch which also offers lots of choice at 13.50 euro (plus 10% VAT).
My habitas (broad beans in a tomato sauce); pollo al ajillo (chicken fried with garlic until crispy on the outside with mushrooms) followed by a slice of yogurt cake as dessert were all really good. Water, beer or a chilled red housewine is included in the price.

Restaurante La Parrilla

My father-in-law is originally from Alcaniz and this was the first restaurant we went to after arriving in town (and the only one open for service at 2pm on a Sunday). The food was excellent and fresh-we ordered the grilled lamb chops, the rabbit, and a salad, accompanied with draft San Miguel beer and finished with a great cup of coffee. The owners (a brother and sister pair) were very friendly. The decor is unique. And they also had free wifi.

Just returned from World Superbike Round at Motorland Aragon, we discovered Cafe Praga on our first night, The Manager Pedro welcomed us like old Friends and we enjoyed a great evening there.
We returned the following evenings with other Friends and had equally good time.
Excellent Tapas and main courses, super atmosphere for Families and adults alike

After hearing all the rave reviews we decided to give this a try and unfortunately was rather disappointed. The decor was rather bright and clinical for my personal taste and no background music made it feel more like a canteen than a quality restaurant. Food was nothing special , in fact my entrecote steak was chewy. Got charged for the bread (a personal pet hate of mine as I never asked for it they bring it and then charge you for it)
I had high expectations after hearing reviews from friends, however I was sadly disappointed and would not rush back

Ate here for lunch. Friendly welcome, and really tasty food. On our visit, there was a selection of 16 types of croquette. My favourite, the 'black rice' version. Very reasonably priced.

The best value meal we had this trip. A menu with plenty of choices including a bottle of wine, water, 3 courses plus coffee for €12 each! The food was excellent, including 2 of the juiciest quail ever, made from the best ingredients. Excellent service. A simple restaurant but, oh, the food!

Parador de Alcaniz

Reviewed By Gerry M - Sitges, Spain

I stayed in the Parador last night with my partner whilst on a tour of the area. We were a bit undecided as to whether we should try the restaurant or not based on other reviews, which frankly were good and bad. Our experience was quite pleasant. We were there out of high season(16.11.16), so it was quiet. The dining room itself is rather splendid, we both were imagining a party in that space, would be great. In total the restaurant was serving six tables of two and a table of four, largely serviced by one waitress, although there was backup at busy moments. Service was very sleek and out waitress was very efficient and professional. We ordered the set menu, which came with wine included for €38 and a bit extra fro the coffees. Be hungry if you decide to go for this option as it was a lot of food. It was all very pleasant, without being exceptional. Although the lamb dish did shine out above all the rest. So in summary, couldn't complain about anything we had, it just lacked something(largely seasoning), to make it a bit more special. But for the price, we thought it very good value for money.

Tastefully decorated inside a great place to go for tapas with a glass of wine or just a cup of coffee. Great area at the back for families with small children. The one thing that lets this place down is the service. In particular by the woman who I believe to be the owner. A smile and manners really do go a long way and make all the difference. Nice place but wouldn't rush back as there are nicer places round the corner in plaza de España

Meson Asador Santa Barbara

Reviewed By brucetaylortravels - Madrid, Spain

We hadn't been here since the change of ownership 4 years ago, although it seems like yesterday. Apparently it´s the same chef and he's even better and more adventurous.
The weekday 3 course set menu is excellent value at 11 euros. There's another more special one costing 18.
We had the former and it was very good. The starters were a delicious gazpacho and a fritada aragonesa (a courgette, potato and onion ratatouille). As a main my partner went for a second starter; a crepe filled with vegetables and I had barbecued Turkey fillets which had been rubbed in garlic. The desserts were homemade and equally good.
The service could not have been more friendly and efficient.....
