Caos in the pool area
Reviewed By gihmaruyama01The hotel organization is just chaotic. Olímpia in general is NOT prepared to be a touristic city. The hotel has almost 1.000 rooms and the pool area do not fits this amount of people and the 4 pools were very dirty as I said they are not prepared.

Staff is unfriendly, issues are unresolved, you have to bounce around like a cockroach on strong insecticide to get to where your problems started. Crowded restaurant with less available tables than guests, even though they schedule the place in 3 waves. Food is unexpectedly awful. Check-in took over 1 hour due to lines. No help to get the luggage out, no trolleys, not enough available seating for the family to wait while we stand with the herd in the check-in line. I could go on but I guess anyone can get the idea.

Reviewed By LeomsilvaAmazing hotel, very comfy, staff very well prepared to attend many people, great food. 5 minutes from Monte Siao, MG where u can do shopping with amazing prices. The SPA is absolutely amazing and relaxing. I would suggest two things: 1- to renew the entertainment team for kids and adults, and add more events/entertainment to it. 2- Make the main pool also termic to be able to use also during the winter/cold time.

Reviewed By vaniaamorimIs bad starting by the reservation and check in delays, food is just ok, very clean place, employees are nice but totally unprepared, good entertainment at the pools, the third party vendors around the park are all very expensive. We reserved four rooms and went with family. Go spend your money elsewhere.

Great and Unique getaway
Reviewed By E7037TEalexdSelected Villa Manakis after researching extensively for something different along that stretch of the Litoral Norte. A lot of hotel type places or over-priced cheap accommodation. I was on a business trip. So just need a very short break. My first 1 hour when arrived and the next morning early were like a weekend break from the chilled and beautiful location. Highly recommend. Be aware of the 5-10 minutes dirt road section into the natural location they placed themselves.

Choose a lower floor to go using stairs. Breakfast is good. The swimming pools are good. You need patience during check-in and check-out. It takes a lot of time. Don’t have amenities in bathroom (shampoo and conditioner), bring yours!

Worth the drive off of the highway
Reviewed By chasinUpstateNewYorkI've been traveling into this region of Brazil since May, and have stayed at several hotels between Sao Paulo and Poso Allegre (sp?). At this point, Monte das Oliveiras is my favorite. The hotel is 8Km up a quite twisty paved road from the main highway, the Fernao Dias. The drive is scenic and bumpy in places, best done in daylight the first time or two. Take a moment to stop and look around at a few spots on the way towards the hotel. BEAUTIFUL Scenery. The hotel & resort is very much worth the 8Km drive! The staff is friendly and accomodating, and at least a few people speak excellent English (not really common in the area). They will go find whom ever the linguist may be, too, if there is any tendency toward confusion. The restaurant is quite good. They advertise Baucahaul for miles along the highway leading up from Sao Paulo, I've yet to actually try it. When there are only a few guests in the hotel, the restaurant offers a daily selection from the menu, all items are well prepared and served. When there are more guests, they offer an excellent and well varied buffet; I've seen wood fired oven pizzas (choose your own toppings) and the more traditional Brazillian barbeque too. Service is first class; I order wine by the bottle, they hold my remainder allowing me to enjoy an excellent wine over the course of two or three meals. The whole grounds are extensive. I've walked much of what is on the "main" side of the road, there is much to see on the other side, I'll do that next time I'm here. Accomodations range from simple one-room typical hotel rooms, two room 'chalets' and multiple room family style chalets. You can be quite close to the center of action (my current chalet overlooks the main outdoor pool) or a 1/2km removed and up the mountainside. Monte das Oliveiras is the best property I've found in the region, I'll return for sure.

This was unexpected and nice(?) the room was bigger but we would have preferred one without the mould (see photos). we have been traveling through out Brazil and this was the first hotel / pousada that didn't have water in the room for us. We went to use the jacuzzi which was filthy!! Told reception. Lady advised 'I know'!! Só if you know why haven't you done something about it!!?? Went for meal in hotel restaurant Chicken was undercooked and husband suffered badly next day!! Could not relax in room due to building works and hammering!! Tried to use gym / fitness centre BUT this is not available!! Pool area never cleaned (see photos) when only us and one other family on site this is not acceptable!! Can't relax by pool due to building works!! Only positive is the breakfast staff / girl who was very charming helpful and friendly. Was supposed to stay longer to meet friends from Sao Paulo and San Jose dos Campos but will be leaving here tomorrow. Very dissatisfied and dissapointed!!

The grounds were verdant and lush, with two pools and an excellent gym. The restaurant and breakfast buffet were reasonable and generous. A reliable option for a country stay in Avare.
