We got to Secrets on the 21st around 2ish. Room wasn't ready but the resort was ready for us. Check in kinda sucked but we got to our room around 3:40ish. We were preferred club like always but preferred club pretty much nonexistent here. Here's the bottom line. This place is beautiful!! The workers bust their ass and are very friendly. We luvd Castaways. This was the only plus for being preferred club. We ate there everyday. A big shout out to Filleppe and his brother. Great people!! Oceana has some great food as well. Big shout out to Abraham as well. Great ping pong player and his water aerobics were a good workout. What a great guy! The Barefoot grill for lunch is a must. Delicious wood fire pizzas!! Sooo good!. The place is very clean and always a good time. Only had 1 bad meal. The ma hi ma hi was rubbery but that was it. Here's the cons. How does a place like Secrets run outa beer?? They have Modelo and Modelo dark on tap as well as small bottles of Corona and Victoria . They ran outa regular modelo on tap, which is what I was drinking. I can't stand the other beers. I took it up with the management. I pleaded my case and within 10 minutes, I had michelob ultra in my room as well as every bar. Ok! I can drink that. They took care of that problem for me. The room service here was prompt and outstanding. This was our 6th Stay at a Secrets resort. We loved Huatulco!!!

Where traveled as a family of 4 with two kids 4 and 6, stayed in a standard room with two double beds. Location: It is about a 20 minute ride from the airport. (call a taxi when you arrive it is around $200 mxn 4 people). This hotel is NOT on the beach. There is a small convenience store across the street, they close around 7pm. - The hotel has a "beach club" located about 5 blocks away called Niru. The shuttle runs every 30 minutes from 10am until 4pm. Club hours are 10am until 5:30pm. They sell day passes for anyone who wants to go there for around 40 bucks a day. This is included with the All inclusive hotel package. They also have "crew discounts" for ship crew as there is a dock next door from the beach club and boats frequent this dock. Rooms: They are pretty standard, the A/C works fine it just makes noise, the newer rooms have fans on the ceiling. There is NO mini fridge in the room. You will get a coffee maker and two bottles of water. All inclusive restaurants: There is a cafeteria type restaurant on site and there is another cafeteria type restaurant at the beach club. Breakfast starts at 7:30am and I think it's open until around 11am. The beach club food opens at 1pm. The food on both places is just okay, nothing out of this world. There are no fancy restaurants on site. The hotel has a "snack bar" open until 5pm even though their sign says it's open until 6:30pm. Not sure why they close early but that's on them. So between 5pm and 7:30pm they have NO food options on site. At night around 9pm they have a show, I was surprised and I only stayed for 1 of the nights to see what is was about, then 20 minutes into it I had to leave because they brought out two stripper polls and two male strippers oiled up for pole dancing I was with my two young kids. I could not believe my eyes they had this type of porno show at a family resort. That was enough for me. Actually I had given this place 3 stars initially but as I type this, just for this I need to downgrade it two 2 stars really. Staff: The wait staff everywhere at the club and at the hotel were super nice, we tipped almost everyone as they all went out of their way to help us. The housekeepers were also professional they also deserved good tips. Only rude staffers were the front desk personnel, for some reason they had some type of defensive attitude. The female manager on site was not friendly. One thing I found tacky was the general manager Gustavo (the guy in the arm sling) was at the Niru all you can eat restaurant every single day we were there. He'd just sit there with his crew and raid the restaurant. 4 days in a row, at least the time we stayed he was there, never introduced himself or anything. The Niru Club - Includes kayak if you're into that. The kayak guy at the club has his side hustle renting snorkel equipment for like $170 mxn, with that said the shops around the hotel will sell snorkeling equipment for around that much and you get to keep it. WIFI: You will get maybe 1 bar of wifi and it disconnects all the time in the rooms, they said it's "because of the way the hotel is built" I guess they can't invest to put routers in the rooms for better signal. Outside of the rooms the wifi signal is ok, maybe two solid bars. At the Niru the wifi is fine 2 - 3 bars. Our flight was at 6pm. If you need to check out late, they will charge around $40 dollars per person and you get to stay until 4pm. WE had an issue with the laundry on site. The front desk person told me they do laundry on site by weight, depending how much your laundry bag weights, they charge you a price he said comes around $10 dollars. When I went to put in my order for this they said they actually do it per clothing piece (many times more expensive) I spoke with the manager who told me that they sometimes do exceptions but in our case they couldn't do it by weight. The only time they did it that way they had some artists onsite and I guess they were treated differently. ( I am NOT making this up) I was appalled. Whether you stay there 2 months or 1 week, or if you're famous or just a family of 4, rules should be the same across the board, for this reason we would like to try a different property next time we visit Huatulco. Huatulco is a wonderful place and most people there were fantastic. We will visit again, just not a the Binni.

This was our first visit here, we chose it for visual appeal and it is listed as a quiet relaxing place. However, this was not the case, the day we arrived there happened to be a private wedding taking place. The front staff should have told us this was happening, we could have been prepared or decided to go somewhere else. We rented a room with a private plunge pool, and we were looking forward to relaxing here in the evening, but this was not possible. The music from the private wedding was incredibly loud, at 10pm I called to complain, they said it would be turned off at 11, well, the music continued until 1am, we did not get to enjoy our evening, and we did not get a goods night sleep either. after complaining again, there was nothing offered by the hotel except an apology from the front desk. If there is going to be a private event, you need to tell your other guests. 10pm is supposed to be quiet time, everyone else has to abide by this, then so should the private wedding, if they want to pay for everyone's room, then fine, play your music all night, but I am paying over $200US a night, turn your f music off. As for the hotel itself, from the outside it looks beautiful, a really nice pool, very clean, very friendly staff, the grounds are exceptional and Its at the end of the bay, so it is very private. But, the room is just that, a hotel room, nothing really special, the beach is nice, but very steep and you cant swim or walk very far, breakfast is horribly expensive, your only choice is the buffet. All we wanted is a coffee and some fruit, we asked if we could get a discount for this, nope, 325 peso no matter how much or little you take, this is just poor service, not everyone wants to have breakfast buffet, there should be another option. Dinner was good, but yes, expensive. And they don't seem to understand to bring appetizers before your main course, it felt like a long time to get our food, and then it all came at once. I gave the service an average rating, this basically for the front staff not telling us there was a private party happening and you wont enjoy your night, and for the dinner staff. All the other staff we encountered were wonderful. The resort looks great, very nice pool, you cant swim in the ocean, its very expensive all around. Wont be coming back.

Six of us stayed for a week at the Villa Blanca. It was a wonderful experience! Only a three black walk to the beach, the Villa Blanca is a wonderful tropical retreat. The pool area has trees and birds and even iguanas. Never a problem getting a chaise lounge and the drink service from the wonderful staff was impeccable. Sitting out on our poolside veranda in the mornings drinking coffee was so relaxing and beautiful. We partook of the warning breakfast only one time and it was delicious. However we did enjoy the afternoon snack menu and the amazing cheeseburgers, club sandwiches and wings. The rooms were cleaned daily and were spotless. We asked for an extra coffee per day and are housekeeping staff provided that happily. The only complaint was that the pool water was like a hot tub. We left daily to go either swim in the ocean or go to Clio's Beach club for cool refreshing water. If only some sort of cooling system could be set up for the pool, we would definitely return! Thank you to Hugo and all of the staff for an absolutely wonderful week!

We returned after a prior visit 8 years ago, The Hotelito retained its friendliness, quiet and a great pool. The guests were friendly and there ususally an informal happy hour gathering at the end of the day. The hosts were all ways around to help which saved our trip when we coul not open the safe to get our passports -problem sovled right away. The busy street on the Zicleta is getting more loud and crazy so the more secluded location (but very close to street) is even more important.

Best hotel in Puerto Escondido

Reviewed By WCOttav

Loved that the hotel had private access to one of the best beaches in PE, Playa Carrizalillo and that it's a short walk to the Rinconada, with a great variety of restaurants and the walk to Plaza Zicatella is easy, too. The location is great. The food is even better - during our stay we were able to sample breakfast, lunch and dinner and each experience was fantastic, fresh food prepared in innovative ways. The staff was very helpful, arranging excursions for us and keeping in touch via text. I researched the rooms extensively before booking because my husband and I enjoy having a glass of wine at the end of the day on a patio or balcony. We were in Villa Terrazza, which has a large, expansive covered deck with a table and hammocks overlooking the beach. I understand that rooms don't matter for a lot of people, especially if you're going to be out and about, but at this property, some villas are better than others, depending on what you like and who you're traveling with. I think Terraza might be the most private, Puebla's entrance is right across from the entrance to Terraza. Venecia might be the least, with a patio that looks out to the garden area. Villas Escondido is the floor under Terraza. Overall, our trip to PE was made more memorable because of the enjoyment we experienced staying at Villa Carrizalillo.

Beautiful but everything is scarce

Reviewed By Martin D

First: the grounds are gorgeous. The building is clean and well-maintained, and the beach club is very pretty and on an uncrowded beach. Rooms are cramped but pleasant and very clean. But an "all-inclusive" resort should make you feel at ease amongst its abundance. And Posada Real utterly fails at this, introducing scarcity to make routine tasks stressful. The food: it's Ok quality. I'm not picky but it's tasty and appropriately Mexican. The drinks taste good. But there's a complex schedule of what food and drinks are available where, and we had a way of always finding ourselves in the wrong place for what we wanted, and in some cases with no food at all. For example, at 5:30pm no food can be had at the beach club! There are three bars at the hotel but at most one is open at any time. Inevitably, there are long lines for food and drink and that serves to ration your access. Towels: there is a towel accounting system. But to get and return towels you're often using the front desk, which is understaffed and usually dealing with a complicated check-in. At the beach club towel people disappear at inopportune times. Again, long lines for a very simple task. Shade: In the middle of the day there is no shade to be had at any of the pools or on the beach. At the beach club, there are some umbrellas but those are claimed early. I learned to show up a couple of hours before my family to await an umbrella to be free. Staff said there were no extras. Just buying 10 or so more umbrellas would greatly improve the experience. Or just build some shade! Internet: It's 2022 and wifi doesn't work in the rooms at all. In the lobbies, it works maybe 60% of the time. Staff were indifferent to my complaints. Bandwidth is terrible: to download a movie for the plane took a couple of hours sitting in the lobby.
