We stopped here for a quick lunch whilst travelling South and were pleasantly surprised by what we found. The staff, who were friendly and loved to dote on the dogs, showed us to their dog friendly lounge which is beautifully decorated and spacious. We imagined having to eat outside so the dog friendly area was a huge plus for us. The food arrived within a satisfactory time and we had no complaints in regards to the quality. The chips were particularly tasty! The only downside was that there was very little on the menu for the celiacs in our party to choose from. Overall lovely stop and perfect for dog owners.

Popped in on a quiet Monday evening. Great selection of real ales, and plenty for other drinkers too, nice selection of gins. This is a proper pub, and we understand that they are trying to run this as a community pub, to stop it being another statistic, another closed pub. They advertise food, chilli etc, we didn't eat this time. Would recommend.

Just returned after a 4 night stay at the RobRoy B&B.Very clean and comfortable rooms with plenty tea and coffee on hand.Also 2 bottles of water and 2 packs of biscuits were provided daily,which was a welcomed nice touch.The breakfasts where extremely good and even included if required a kipper or smoked haddock.We even took advantage of an evening meal which was as good if not better as served up in a professional restaurant and made fresh and served up on piping hot plates. Mine hosts Linda and Ian where really accommodating and helpful.The B&B is ideallying positioned for the 15 minute walk into Berwick.All the rooms where taken when we was there and all the guests had nothing but praise for the standard of the food and of the B&B in general

I have given this restaurant better reviews in the past but we were fairly disappointed with this visit at lunchtime recently. The menu is limited and especially for vegetarians. We asked what specials of the house were on, but there were none. Service was OK and the decor is fine, but the range of lunch foods available and the general value for money was not good in our opinion.

Dreadful if you want to just walk in and want to eat there and then. Can only cope with one food order at a time. Youâre allocated a time slot. Donât order a shandy. They make it up as they go along. Donât bother. To fully enjoy an hour here is to lose a day. We are a very small village pub (not a restaurant) that also happens to offer good value home cooked food. On this particular evening we were busy and every other table had made a reservation for a booked time. Yes, we have a small kitchen and a very small number of staff (most notably, only one chef); and yes, we do work to time slots; that is exactly what a reservation system is designed to cater for. We are far too small to be able to cater instantly for every diner that walks through the door, we can only cater for up to a maximum of 30 people on any single evening.Had you bothered to phone in advance you would have been offered a table time where you would not have had to wait for more than 15 minutes or so. It is important to state that you were told when you walked in that we could not serve you for at least 45 minutes, as we will not push other people back down the queue when they had had the forethought to reserve a table and time slot.As for a shandy, I hope that you understand that a shandy is a beer topped up with lemonade (roughly 50/50)? So all shandy, by definition, is made up as they are ordered.

We decided to eat here to take advantage of the Early Bird offer.The special menu was limited, as would be expected, but adequate The staff were pleasant and welcoming However we were told our meals were ready and directed to our table.45 minutes our meals arrived and it looked as if everyone else on the 3 occupied tables had been waiting ages as well.The meals were well cooked but basic. It was like good homemade food cooked to order, which was a good point , despite the wait.Thank you for the review.We did indeed have 4 tables arrive at once, only one table ordered starters which means the chef had to prepare 15 main courses at once, our cooking space is limited and all food is freshly cooked from scratch to order, for instance if you order our homemade pie it takes 5 minutes to prepare and a further 25 minutes to cook, we do mention that on the menu, to make it worse if there are several orders in front of you that food is prepared 1st, hence a 30 to 40 minute wait on freshly prepared and cooked food is normal.You are perfectly correct regarding the food, it is based on everyday home cooked food, we have spent a lot of time developing the menu along with regulars, locals, tourists and the menu we serve is basically what people have asked for and all freshly cooked to order, we do not freeze any of the food nor make it up at the start of the week, lasagne is even made every two days to keep it fresh, all the sauces are made in the pan the meat is cooked in. This alone makes us stand out from the crowd regarding quality and flavour.The three course for £10 is kept limited to ensure we get the best market price for the ingredients, if a dish becomes expensive we change it, this enables us to keep the menu at that price.We have put a system in place to manage tables better, now if you come in and wish to eat the tables are timed and you will be fully informed of when the table is ready and how long the food will take to cook.Thank you again for the feedback, hope we see you again soon.

A family group had an evening meal here, sadly two of the dishes we had wanted from the menu were not available and we had to choose alternatives. The choices were unfortunately disappointing, however on a positive note the portions were good, the food hot and service was friendly. Most of the group were happy with their food but the lack of our first choice certainly coloured our opinion.

First visit to this restaurant,which is handily located on the A698. Nice staff, all with a happy, obliging disposition. Plenty of tables in a quiet eating area. Both had rump steak with triple cooked chips which was well cooked & tasty. Followed by a cheese board to share with a good variety of cheeses. Prices are reasonable & despite being on a main road it was surprisingly quiet.

We went here after reading the great reviews on TA and the good pics of homemade food! Staff were welcoming and dog friendly which is a plus. Lady brought out a small handwritten menu (absolutely fine) every main was £10, after seeing the pics on TA we thought anything we picked would be nice. We went for fish and chips (states they specialise in fresh fish being near the sea) and steak pie...we we really disappointed when mains came out...most pubs in this area/borders batter their own fish but what came out was a triangle shaped clearly frozen fish with oven chips and a horrible tasting packet tartare sauce, the steak pie we recieved had a pastry top that was flat and slightly overcooked (Not fabulously puffy and light as we were expecting) now the filling for the steak pie was clearly tinned steak as it was mushy/shredded and had that tinned taste with peas mixed in which we thought was rather odd..again served with oven chips and more peas! It was OK probably slightly overpriced for frozen tinned food and basically we won't be returning.

Lunch at the Brewers, and for the first time. We decided to forego the a la carte menu and turned our attention to the daily specials board. What caught the eye was the two course offering for £7.25. Choices could be made between starters, mains and desserts to select the two courses. I opted for the lentil soup and the chicken and leek pie with chips, carrots, cabbage brocolli, turnip. My wife selected the same main, but opted for the jam sponge pudding as a dessert. The soup was the thick and wholesome and served with a bread roll and butter, very tasty, very hot. We both selected the same main, delicious , chunky homemade chicken and leak pie, served with all the accoutrements. This was splendid. The jam sponge pudding with lovely creamy custard, and sponge light as a feather, Mmmm. Her indoors washed this down with a glass of Shiraz, whilst I enjoyed a pint of ale. Her indoors was still not finished, she ended with a tia maria special coffee, which brought a smile to her face. All in all, the meal was good, satisfying food, served piping hot, and by a jovial waitress. Portions were generous and represented great value for money. Incredibly the total cost was under £25. Amazing !. This is a cosy, welcoming and comfortable pub, a credit to the landlord/ lady. Would highly recommend.
