Top 10 Private Tours in Dublin, Province of Leinster

September 14, 2021 Jasper Kershner

You've probably heard that Guinness tastes better in Dublin (fresh from the factory), but what you may not know is that Dublin is a perfect destination for the whole family. No, we're not suggesting you let the kiddies drink a pint. Instead, take them to the Dublin Zoo, to feed the ducks in Stephen's Green or on a picnic in Phoenix Park. Scholars enjoy walking in the literary footsteps of such writers as Yeats and Joyce, while discerning shoppers have their pick of designer boutiques.

I loved these tours. Took them back in April of 2019. The first tour I took was a walking tour of Dublin. Ciaran was the tour guide. He was a total history buff and made the tour super interesting. The next day I went on a tour to a seaside village called Howth. I had a tour guide named Stephen. He was very cool and even preformed Shakespeare in the woods for his group. I hope to take these tours again one day.

This was by far the best tour we went on during our trip. All the places we visited are so beautiful and breathtaking. We were able to take our time at every location. We didn't feel rushed at all. James was the best guide. He is so knowledgeable. We learned so much about the history of Ireland and Northern Ireland. James is such cool guy and we are blessed we got to meet him. He recommended some great places. We are dying to go back. We will definitely be in touch for a future tour. We also did the Black taxi tour which is so interesting and informative. We recommend that as well, it is heartbreaking but very eyeopening. We are very glad to have had the opportunity to attend the Black taxi tour as well.

We took a 12 day private tour of Ireland with Little Gem back in 2019 and it was the best travel experience of our lives. We were an extended family of 12 and had all generations of travellers. Little Gem provided a perfect experience from the start. Private tour planner Rosie worked with us on every detail of our travels and customized the perfect tour for us. Our driver guide was incredible and knew all the best spots to take us away from the tour coaches. Each night we stayed in amazing local accommodations including some very swanky 5* castles as well as a lovely farm stay and B&B's. We would highly recommend Little Gem Private Tours of Ireland!!

Jay and his team were excellent during our recent trip to Ireland. We were a group of 16 with 4 children and used their services for our trips to and from the airport and also to and from Trinity hotel for our daughters wedding. They were on time, helpful and a lot of fun. Despite the city closing down they remained available to us for any questions and concerns. Highly recommend their services.

The 1916 Rebellion is a crucial moment in Irish History and the event is still very much a part of Dublin today. Step into the past with a local and visit the spots where rebels fought for the freedom of their country. Plus hear about the events that brought Ireland to the point of rebellion. Start your local experience hearing about the Great Irish Famine. From the memorial to the ships that transported Irish people to America, this sad event is still remembered all over the city. Swing by Arbour Hill Cemetary and Prison which is the burial site of 14 of the leaders of the rebellion. Then finish your historical experience in front of Kilmainham Gaol. Now a museum, this impressive building is a former prison and the spot where the rebels were imprisoned and executed.

We signed up for the Classic Irish Pub Tour with Ruairi hoping to get a little background on Irish music with the opportunity to enjoy it in some classic pubs. While that is certainly what we received, with Ruairi, we got so much more. Ruairi is a true Dubliner and really provided a complete and detailed background of the city that was both interesting and fun. Leading us through different parts of Dublin, he informed us about the city's history, geography, art, culture and even told us a few ghost stories. My wife and I really appreciated how knowledgeable Ruairi was about so many different aspects of Irish life and how willing he was to share some great anecdotes highlighting his own experiences. While I certainly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to sample Irish music while enjoying a Guinness and Irish Stew, I really recommend taking this tour with Ruairi if you are looking for a well-rounded insightful night of Irish culture.
