Lindau (officially in German: Lindau (Bodensee)) is a major town and an island on the eastern side of Lake Constance (Bodensee in German). It is the capital of the Landkreis or county Lindau, Bavaria, and located near the borders of Austria (Vorarlberg) and Switzerland (St. Gallen and Thurgau). The coat of arms of Lindau town is a linden tree, referring to the supposed origin of the town's name (Linde means linden tree in German). The historic town of Lindau is located on an 0.68-square-kilometre (0.26 sq mi) island, which is connected with the mainland by a road-traffic bridge and a railway dam leading to Lindau station.

Wenn die Zuschauer vergessen, dass auf der Bühne "nur" Marionetten agieren, haben die Puppenspieler der Marionettenoper ihr Ziel erreicht. Erst wenn man glaubt, die Puppen atmen zu hören, in ihren Gesichtern Freude oder Traurigkeit, Glück oder Schmerz entdeckt, ist das Bewegungsspiel vollkommen. Den menschlichen Vorbildern möglichst nahe zu kommen, ist der Kern der Philosophie der Marionettenoper. Geschichte: Die Lindauer Marionettenoper wurde im Jahr 2000 von Bernhard Leismüller gegründet. Etwa 500 Marionetten hat Bernhard Leismüller inzwischen gebaut. Über 200.000 Zuschauer waren seither zu Gast. Das Ensemble zählt mittlerweile 14 Puppenspieler. Insgesamt arbeiten mehr als 20 Personen für die Marionettenoper. Sogar einen Förderverein gibt es. Die "Freunde der Lindauer Marionettenoper" sind auf über 200 Mitglieder angewachsen.

Stroll along Lake Constance and see the most incredible of the Austrian and Swiss Alps. June was a spectacular time to visit.

This is a beautiful road taking you through some of the most beautiful scenery and quintessential Bavarian villages southern Germany/Austria have to offer. We took several days to complete the road, wild camping as we went (there’s plenty of rest stops and small parking bays on the way). It’s simple enough to follow the signs marked the Alpenstrasse/Alpenstraße and it is sometimes marked with a little Edelweiss flower. I strongly recommend driving at least a portion of it in the afternoon/sunset as the light on the mountains and villages at that time of day is stunning.

Wonderfully designed tower you feel like a small child living the story. It's right next to the wonderful harbour can't miss it.
