To begin with, I love European open air markets and this Saturday market is great! The vendors took pride in arranging their areas, the vegetables, fruit, dairy products, meat, bread all are fresh and beautifully displayed. The vendors were only to happy to provide interesting information regarding their product. We visited in October and there were no large groups and the crowd was what one would expect for this type of venue. I thoroughly enjoyed my morning at the market.

Wow, I told myself when I saw this mural on the way to the train station. It is symbolic that I saw Bon for the first time in the famous comedy La Grande Vadrouille. This comedy has been the leader of the French box office since its release in 1966 for 42 years! Deservedly so. The Burgundian artist and sculptor Patrick Bidaux portrayed the main creators of this sparkling comedy-director Gérard Oury and created by him in" Le Corniaud " (The Sucker) a magnificent combination of comedians Bourville and Louis de Funes. Bidaux portrayed the film crew filming the scene at the Hotel Dieu not in their usual expressionist manner, but quite realistically. Although the mural looks fresh, it is already a quarter of a century old-it was painted in honor of the 30th anniversary of the film's release.

Walking along the ramparts is a great way to see the area surrounding Beaune and to check out some gorgeous houses that are built on the ramparts. The walls are easily accessible, safe and clean.
