L'Ecusson Restaurant

Restaurant gastronomique qui travaille que des produits frais de saison. Terrasse agréable au calme pour l'été.

We were a very large group of both adults and children. We actually filled the entire restaurant which meant that the food had to be prepared for a single Seating. Quite a task!. We were provided menu which was limited so that service could be accomplished. This didn't hamper the fine selections from which to choose. The entire dinner was delightful. The wine selection was also very nice and we did a good job of denting the supply with the fine guidance of the sommelier. The service was impeccable. At the end of the evening the chef came to say hello and receive a well deserved ovation.

I rarely if ever write negative reviews why because I hate them and I’m in the industry. But last night was one of the worst dining experiences we have had especially in France. We get the slow service and the fine dining expectation in this country but we left our 7 course meal after only 4 courses after 2 hours of culinary pain. Nothing could save this experience.
Most concerning was his wine suggestion. Our waiter suggested a grand cru burgundy produced in 2011. We knew 2011 was a tough year and inquired about the same wine on the menu produced in 2012. The waiter assured us the 11 was better ok we bit. The wine sucked, we didn’t drink it and set it aside. It was flat, no fruit, no complexity just bad. We brought the server over and explained, he claims to have enjoyed it the past week with the winemaker himself. Anyway we ordered another bottle of la fon this time it was great. The server left the bad wine and glasses on our table the whole night. While there I texted one of winemakers who made the wine he responded the 2012 is much better. And they have much more of 2011, I guess they’re pushing it on dumb Americans.
On to the food, well we ordered the tasting menu for 3, they asked any special requests. I mentioned my wife ate primarily fish and veggies but me and my son enjoyed beef. Well 4 courses in and no hint of meat yet to my disappointment and watching other tables get meat courses....bummer
1 course thin mushroom bisque, ok and acceptable
2 course beet salad with beet sorbet, terrible
3 course oyster soup, clear tasteless broth, one oyster, capers onion, completely tasteless and lacking any creativity
4 course skin on fish, really fishy couldn’t remove skin and really worked it, horrible, we had enough we were done.
We couldn’t bare any more pain
The service was slow and completely inattentive. We had to flag our server over for everything, including water service, bread service and refills. They did remove the wine from bill but to leave midway through we expected more. 400 dollars for half a meal for 3 is plain sad. I previously wrote a rare 3 star review from 2013 but heard they had new ownership and were much improved, not in our opinion. On a positive note the place was crowded on Thursday night.

Excellent experience. The restaurant only has seven tables Seating a mix of two, four and one six diner table. Reservations essential - and they don't have a website - so call.
The entree special of lobster (15 Euro supplement) was fantastic. It seriously brought tears to my eyes it was so good. The mains of risotto and veal were superbly executed and plated. The desserts were equally yummy and well presented. The chocolate mousse was terrific.
The husband and wife team are passionate about their work both front of house and in the kitchen.
This is fine dining food at a moderate price point in a no frills dining room.
Memorable evening.

This restaurant is hands-down fantastic! The chef is so talented and creative, and the staff are friendly and helpful. We love the warm Epoisses mousse served with an Epoisses-slathered biscotti as our selection for the cheese course. And incredible find, in one of the best villages in Burgundy!

An authentic traditional restaurant serving fantastic food. Not sophisticated, but all the better for it. No starters, and a choice of only 5 main courses (all pork, and all explained by the Chef with genuine enthusiasm). What that means is that the food is superb. I had the côte de porc with an epoisse sauce - huge, succulent and tasty with a creamy cheese sauce that was to die for. My wife had a beef bourguignon made with pig cheeks that really did melt in the mouth. As well as great food the ambience is superb and chef and madam made it an even more enjoyable night. Cannot recommend highly enough.

Bacchus in Beaune is absolutely fantastic. We came on a Tuesday having booked via Tripadvisor app telephone. We need not have concerned ourselves we were a party of 4 and only 2 other diners here! 30 covers in here is everyone mad? This place is brilliant from the service to the quality of food and wine and the price! I can't understand why the waiting list for this restaurant isnt a mile long. We had snails and cesar salad, boeuf bourgignon and lots of other miraculous stuff including some superb wine. Come here if you come to Beaune, if you don't you are seriously loosing out. And one last thing you MUST have the pain Perdue its marvellous.

We were a group of 18 having dinner twice in the restaurant, once their special Emotion with wines included, This was very good, not gourmet, but really good, and the wines were perfect. The sommelier told about the wines in English remarkably interesting and knowledgeable. Alle sommeliers spoke English and had strikingly knwledge about the wines, the district, the terroir and so on. The second time dinner chosen with the restaurant.. Very, very good, and this time with a few chosen wines. Perfect. Service is all the time perfect. Olivier and his brother Patrick turned up several times, both are flamboyant and highly entertaining, not many places have owners of this quality!!!

We arrived into town a bit earlier than we expected and were pleased to find Le Pelugney open and they had time and space for us! A delightful place owned by a husband and wife team - wonderful food! We shared an appetizer and then had 4 terrific dishes - so delicious! Would highly recommend - also a very tiny place so if you have a larger group you may want to rsvp! We will be back!

In Beaune for a stopover we took TripAdvisor's advice that 21 Bld is an excellent restaurant and were not disappointed. It lies on the edge of the historic centre but is worth a few minutes walk. The different fixed-price menus gave us all the choice we needed, but à la carte is also reasonable. Huge choice of Burgundies of course, and it is good to be able to have some of them by the glass.
