Organisationally and administratively it is included in the City of Cape Town metropolitan municipality. It is situated in the Helderberg area (formerly called Hottentots Holland), about 50 kilometres (30 mi) east of Cape Town central city area, and 10 kilometres (6 mi) from Strand. The town is overlooked by the Helderberg (meaning "clear mountain"), a part of the Hottentots-Holland range of mountains. This was the first time that we visit the Somerset West restuarant.Drove pass it a few times,but did not look like much from the outside.But do not let looks fools you.This is a very big restaurant with seating in and outside.Food pasta and pizzas is very good and prices is fair.Corkage fees is bit steep and that is a bid of a downfall as the winelist is average and cheapest wine is around R140 a bottleHello 8Cgv,Thank you for taking the time to review Col'Cacchio Somerset West. It was a cold wintery day with a table of 13 with family and friends. There is a very extensive menu including kids menu, starters, salads, pizza, pasta, seafood, meats and a page of specials. This often makes me nervous as I know itâs difficult to execute such a big menu well but I can honestly say that every one of the adults and children thought there meal was fantastic. The portions were generous which was great as it allowed us to taste some of the other dishes and I am already planning our next trip se we can go back for more! There is also an outside seating area with jungle gym for kids which would be lovely on a sunny day.

The place has been fixed up and menu improved I am glad to say. It's our Saturday lunch local after hitting loads of golf balls at the range.Dear Shaun,Many thanks for the kind review and your continued support. We are still in a " work in progress" stage with bigger and better things to come. We will be focusing on the bar next, complete with a whole new look and feel, we will then tackle the kitchen. Such a great atmosphere! We first there went on a cold, rainy Monday evening, it was really quiet because of the weather but it was still fantastic. We walked down from the place we were staying at while on holiday. Centrally located. Food was amazing!! And at such good prices!We visited again while we were on holiday in the area. Definitely recommended to anyone who lives or visits that area! I'd love to visit again in the future.

Visited twice during Feb and March during my annual pilgrimage to Somerset West. On the first visit I fancied the chicken livers as a main course which were only shown as a starter our waiter checked with the manager who immediately said no problem. They were great. Went back again as we had noticed their special days advertised. The any pizza day provided excellent value and the pizzas were really great. I visited the restaurant with my 2 daughters after viewing Lourensford as a wedding venue. The setting is beautiful. The staff welcomed us to the restaurant, even though they had not yet opened for business. We enjoyed delicious food, catering for the pescatarian and the vegan in our group. We like the unpretentious setting, atmosphere and decor of Henri's. Plus the fact that the food is consistently good, so it's never a difficult choice when we decide on the spur of the moment to go out instead of eating in. Having not eaten at Giovanni's for a number of years, we decided to go there again tonight. I must be honest, it was average. I had the kingklip with rice and a side of veg (butternut, beetroot and green beans). The kingklip was just okay, the rice was VERY al dente and the beetroot had a taste I cannot quite pin-point. I suspect that the idea behind the beetroot may have been sweet and sour, but I cannot be sure. In short, the quality was not what I remembered Giovanni's to offer.My husband had a sirloin. He said it was closer to well done than medium. His general impression was also that the meal was just okay.Our waiter was very friendly and I have no complaints about the service.All in all, I would say that our evening was average. I am not sure, given the options in and around Somerset West, that I will be back.
