The Wine Cellar was the highlight of our trip to Amsterdam! Jose made us feel like family as he told us all about his family's winery back in Mendoza. The wine was excellent, atmosphere great, and company even better! The Wine Cellar has a speakeasy feel which makes the whole experience that much more unique and special.

Love this place- we come here so often now. The cocktails are divine, exactly how cocktails should be made. Definitely high quality. They narrowed down the menu which is good as there was so much to choose from, but there is still plenty of choice! I love the Circle of Life and the Bohemian Rhapsody, and another favourite is the Fermented Daiquiri. I can recommend for a nice Amsterdam experience, with a view of the Dam, a nice atmosphere and fantastic cocktails.

Wynand Fockink

In around 1679, Wynand Fockink opened his spirits and liqueur distillery on the Pijlsteeg in the bustling city center of Amsterdam. In those days distilleries usually included a tasting house and a shop; Wynand Fockink's was no exception. Today, three centuries later, the Pijlsteeg distillery contains an extraordinary collection of antique bottles in premises still furnished in the style of the seventeenth century. Wynand Fockink has continued, throughout the years, to specialize in liqueurs and jenevers which you can still see being made in the distillery. My husband and I spent a few days in Amsterdam, and included a walking tour of the Red Light District in our itinerary. Our guide, Stan, asked if we'd like to stop for a drink somewhere, and we soon found ourselves here at Wynand Fockink. What a great place! It's tiny and cramped and noisy and busy, but that just adds to the ambience. The jenever liquors are phenomenal; I tried 6-8 different ones and really enjoyed every single one of them. The bartenders were fun and friendly and more than happy to guide us as we explored the MANY flavors available. We had so much fun here, that we made a special second trip back the following day for another drink at the bar, as well as the purchase of several bottles from the shop next door.

Well what can I say, this is a gem of a pub, just a few metres from dam square. We went here to celebrate my birthday, we arrived at 1pm and stayed a few he's drinking real ales! They don't serve food which is a shame and the snack menu is very basic, we ordered the cheese board because I'd not eaten, cheese is not my first choice of food but the cheese board went down a treat. If your not an ale fan they do serve a couple of lagers, but give the ales a try as they are lovely. Please visit this pub as the interior is fantastic.

The W lounge on the top floor at the W hotel is an Instagram friendly location with its large windows, landscape of furniture, cool public and views on historic buildings surrounding. There is an outdoor terrace with a bright blue small pool and sunbeds. When we visited, a foto shoot for the leading Dutch department store took place. Some of the staff speak English only. We had a nice cappucino and a very good salad with apple and blue cheese dressing. Big glasses of free water were served without asking, an excellent service.
