Top 10 Nightlife in Broadstairs, England

February 16, 2022 Jana Sager

Broadstairs is a coastal town on the Isle of Thanet in the Thanet district of east Kent, England, about 80 miles (130 km) east of London. It is part of the civil parish of Broadstairs and St Peter's, which includes St Peter's, and had a population in 2011 of about 25,000. Situated between Margate and Ramsgate, Broadstairs is one of Thanet's seaside resorts, known as the "jewel in Thanet's crown". The town's crest's Latin motto is Stella Maris ("Star of the Sea"). The name derives from a former flight of steps in the chalk cliff, which led from the sands up to the 11th-century shrine of St Mary on the cliff's summit.

The Four Candles

The Four Candles is Britain's Smallest Brewpub (not the smallest pub, not the smallest brewery - just the smallest proper micropub that is also a proper microbrewery. We sell an ever-changing selection of our own beers as well as a small range of Biddenden wines, ciders and fruit juices. Ashmore cheese, Kentish pork pies and Black Country pork scratchings. Or a cup of tea or coffee if you insist. No bar, no till, no TV, no piped music. And no lager (as we're not able to make that). Just conversation and good company. We're open every evening and all day Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays.

I was recommended to visit this bar and it did not disappoint. On my own but was made to feel very welcome by the girl serving the drinks and indeed the customers who were in the bar. Great beer

Visited Houdini’s in the evening at the beginning of December. Broadstairs was fairly quiet when we went for a meal and had a look at a few other bars along the high street. But Houdini’s had a fair few people in and a great atmosphere. So we’re pleased that we decided to spend our evening here. There was a fantastic magician walking around doing card tricks and he then later done a show. Through the night there was a compere doing competitions and telling jokes. The bar staff was also very friendly and told us the history about the cranberry gin we were drinking. Me and my partner like to look for niche and different bars. And we will definitely be returning to Houdini’s.

Visited here last night, my first ever visit to broadstairs and quite frankly I wasn’t impressed the whole weekend. That is, until I came here with my friends! The premises are absolutely wonderful, good selection of drinks to suit any type of person and the staff! Utterly impressed, being a bar owner... it can be very hard to pull in a team that have the chemistry to run a pub well, aswell as having fun whilst doing it! Perfect balance with the both of them. I was so impressed to the point that I even created an account on here just to congratulate them on their work. Will be visiting broadstairs again and I really hope to see George and Freddy in there again!
