Although the Whales are certainly the highlight of any trip to the lagoon, The people are what make it happen. From the expert boatmen to the wonderful chef and her staff, they all worked together as a family to make us comfortable and safe. They do so well, it looks effortless, but I know that is because they are good at their jobs and like the work they do. I also want to thank our guides, naturalists and "instant friends," Margarita, Charlotte. Pam and David who were always "on" from the moment we arrived until after we left, I'm sure. What a great group of friendly and sincere people who have the most difficult job of all; making 20 different people from all walks of life have an enjoyable experience outside their own comfort zone. They met and exceeded everyone's "needs" and satisfied most of their "wants." They are expert at handling difficult personal situations with care and respect. These are people who I am glad I have met and wish we could spend more time together.

Cabo Pulmo Marine Preserve

A sanctuary to the only living coral reef on the western side of the continent.

We travelled in a mini rental vehicle on the dirt roads that lead south from La Ribera towards San Jose Del Cabo via Cabo Pulmo and a host of other small settlements. It’s an arduous journey in a standard small vehicle ???? but after seeing the beaches the bird life and most of all the numerous breaching humpback whales ???? from the coastline it was a road trip of a life time. You really need a 4x4 but our little car managed it with a gold star. ( probably more to do with the driver ????) I’d recommend it to all as it was simply an amazing drive. ****Word if warning***** Don’t attempt this in a normal vehicle if it’s been raining or in the dark. You won’t make it. Give yourself a good 6 hours to complete the journey

This trip requires a pretty long drive down a sandy road, but is totally worth it. Our standard rental car made it down the road just fine. You can walk to the waterfall and swim in the pool beneath, and may also walk up to the area upstream to get a more panoramic view. The water this time of year is pretty cold, but still swimmable. This was a good chance to see more of Baja than just the beach. We did encounter a large rattlesnake. Watch where you step.

A good friend and I were in Todos Santos for The Tropic of Cancer Music Festival and we set aside time to visit here. What an epic experience. The volunteer families that work here are beyond incredible. Being able to take part in the release of the baby turtles into the sea at sunset was unlike no other I have experienced. Take the time to visit here during this season when the eggs are laid and be sure to donate generously so that this effort can continue. You're welcome!

El Salto Canyon & Waterfall

Hop around a few boulders, and splash in collecting pools as you hunt down some waterfalls. My husband and I found this spot while exploring the wine region in Valle de Guadalupe, so we certainly weren't prepared to hike (okay...we were wearing sandals, so we did it barefoot). It was a magical addition to a day. We passed several camping spots on the way into the canyon that we are sure to try soon. They even had tire swings on a few of the mature trees that made me feel like I was 7 years old again :)

San Jose's Estuary and Bird Sanctuary

A spectacular beach where tourists come to view the sea lions in the month of June.

Reviewed By stevebQ4499XD - Portland, United States

We really enjoyed this nature walk. You pick up the path just north of the Holiday Inn, which is located on the beach at the east end of the Hotel district. The pathway is not closed, however debris is still evident as they continue to clean up from a recent storm. The pathway to the right, which we took, takes you towards the ocean, within a half mile of fairly easy walking. Your shoes will get a bit muddy as you encounter some low lying area near the estuary water bodies. You'll see hundreds if not thousands of birds of many species. We saw a hawk dive-bomb hunting for fish in the water (around 10am). The spot where the estuary meets the ocean is a very unique feature, has many birds feeding, and is worth exploring.
