Top 10 Museums in Temple Bar, Province of Leinster

April 2, 2022 Jacquiline Darosa

You've probably heard that Guinness tastes better in Dublin (fresh from the factory), but what you may not know is that Dublin is a perfect destination for the whole family. No, we're not suggesting you let the kiddies drink a pint. Instead, take them to the Dublin Zoo, to feed the ducks in Stephen's Green or on a picnic in Phoenix Park. Scholars enjoy walking in the literary footsteps of such writers as Yeats and Joyce, while discerning shoppers have their pick of designer boutiques.

Temple Bar Gallery and Studios

Temple Bar Gallery + Studios (TBG+S) is a gallery and artists' studios complex located in the heart of Dublin and the Temple Bar cultural quarter. It is one of the first DIY artist initiatives in Ireland started by a group of artists and administrators in 1983. In the 1980's, TBG+S was instrumental in establishing Temple Bar's reputation as a place for cultural activities in Dublin and led to its regeneration as Dublin's Cultural Quarter in the early 1990's. At Temple Bar Gallery + Studios (TBG+S), we place the artist at the heart of everything we do. TBG+S works to support professional visual artists and to connect as many people as possible, with the engaging dynamic of art. We do this by providing affordable studio space to over 40 artists annually and through our vibrant programme of exhibitions and events. The building is home to 30 artists' studios that provide artists with a warm and spacious working environment and allows them to be located within a creative community in the city. The gallery features art work by the most compelling Irish and International artists in five exhibitions annually. At TBG+S, all of our programmes are free and accessible to everyone with a curiosity about visual art. The Talks + Events series includes studio and gallery tours, lectures, critical discussions and film screenings for audiences. Our Education programme works with young people, families and schools in Dublin city. TBG+S is funded through annual funding from the Arts Council of Ireland. Dublin City Council is also a funder of TBG+S and the main corporate sponsor is Mason Hayes & Curran.

Seamus Heaney: Listen Now Again

A National Library of Ireland exhibition celebrating the life and work of Seamus Heaney at the Bank of Ireland Cultural and Heritage Centre, Westmoreland Street, Dublin 2.

Reviewed By 794teresac - Wexford, Ireland

I visited in June 2019. It is an excellent exhibition and a great tribute to Seamus and his work and life. I have been to the Homeplace in Bellaghy which is also wonderful. The Dublin exhibition is easy to access by public transport. It is well laid out and the whole atmosphere is one of quiet calm. A delight.
