Spirit of the Green Man Studio

Reviewed By 111jemmad - Ystrad Mynach, United Kingdom

After a visit to Tintern Abbey my Husband and I enjoyed a walk around the local area and came across this wonderful little shop, we both love The Green Man and especially at this time of year as he is the symbol of nature, rebirth, representing the cycle of growth each spring and I was overwhelmed by the amount of different styles of beautiful Green Men ornaments which can be used both in the garden (lovely bird feeders) and in the home as wall art, there are other little spiritual trinkets and witchery which I loved, I could have spent hours just looking through the shop, especially the pottery dragons which are made locally, I am looking forward to going back again soon to explore this shop even more as we arrived late in the day and didn't have much time! Prices were reasonable and the lady in the shop was very happy to help, knowledgeable and friendly!

I have been to Creates a number of times and even if you cannot afford to indulge, the art on show is always enjoyable. Now there is an additional space, just down the road at 7 Church Street which, as well as providing overspill exhibition space, is also the most pleasant cafe to open in Monmouth for a while. The plain decor makes the space seem roomy and light, as well as acting to showcase the work exhibited (and i did wish I had a few hundred pounds available to purchase some lovely paintings!). There is a good selection of mains, usual cafe fayre such as soup, eggs on toast, and fillings served either as an open sandwich, on a jacket or as a salad. This is a very vegetarian/vegan friendly place. I chose a hummus and falafel baked potato, which was delicious. The cakes looked amazing, and this is certainly a place I would visit again.

Monmouth Museum

Reviewed By bramwelln - Ross-on-Wye, United Kingdom

An interesting, compact museum with a wide variety of exhibits. I have been surprised to speak with many who live within a 20 mile radius of this museum and have not yet visited it. Hopefully, they will soon rectify this oversight! Combine this visit with the castle, courthouse and regimental museum and you will easily fill a day's visit to Monmouth.

Monmouth Castle and Military Museum

Reviewed By djrose007 - Gloucester, United Kingdom

I loved this little museum which is packed solid with information, newspaper cuttings, posters, uniforms, weapons, artefacts, all very interesting. Some of the uniforms are very familiar to fans of the film Zulu. As with all such treasures it is free to enter and donations welcomed to help with the upkeep.
