Sirogojno

An open-air museum "Staro selo" (the Old Village) in Sirogojno portrays the traditional village architecture of the Zlatibor region. All facilities and household objects are authentic. In the museum workshops copies of museum exhibits are manufactured and also, the skill of potters, carpenters and other artisans is manifested.

Sirogojno, on Mount Zlatibor, Serbia is a quaint open-air museum, like an ethno village. We visited in December so it was covered in snow. There is a little restaurant serving pies and strong hot coffee. Worth a visit. You can also find food preserves and there are a few stalls selling a range of sheep wool garments.

Viminacium Archaeological Park

Reviewed By GoGo2SlowGo - Denton, United States

We came here on a Viator tour that covered two medieval fortresses and this former Roman city which dates back to 1st century AD. It existed as a Roman city until the 6th century when the Slavic army defeated the Romans. The park is active and there is research and excavations occurring daily. They have an adventure park nearby to draw families who might want to explore the tombs and relics while the children could probably care less. There is something for everyone here. They discovered Mammoth bones when they were digging for coal nearby. Now, the mammoth bones are on display as well. It's an unexpected bonus when we came to view the site of a Roman city.

Museum of Ponisavlje (Muzej Ponisavlje Pirot)

Reviewed By igorC73si - Slovenian Littoral Region, Slovenia

A place to visit in any case preferably on the first day. Interesting history presented by the museum guide that gives a lot of info about the area with picturesque stories about little Rista (once owner f the house) and his way of handling with the Turkish authorities and by telling the story of various rooms and things exhibited in the house. At the end visitors have an interesting and quite realistic impression of the history of the place and many useful info about the location and what to visit, taste and feel when while they will stay in the surroundings. Interesting for kids too. Fluent in Serbian, English, German, Bolgarian and probably even more.

Narodni Muzej Zajecar

Don't miss it!!! We just left it and went to Soljica for a cup o coffee( nice cappuccino guys????????) and I can not stop thinking of great treasure we saw inside. We are really grateful for a nice tour provided by museum guide-very knowledgeable and pleasent woman. She gave an excellant overwiev of history of Felix Romvliana it is obvious that she knows much more but clearly concised it for us...With this we can't wait to see Romvliana. Also souvenirs we bought look very artistic- magnets replica of Romuliana artefacts. Don't miss mosaics on the first floor and exhibition on the second also of history of Zajecar( the name came from word zajec-meaning rabbit:-)) we just hope that exploration shall continue and we plan to visit again.
