Top 10 Multi-day Tours in Moscow, Central Russia

November 28, 2021 Margarita Chappel

The political, scientific, historical, architectural and business center of Russia, Moscow displays the country's contrasts at their most extreme. The ancient and modern are juxtaposed side by side in this city of 10 million. Catch a metro from one of the ornate stations to see Red Square, the Kremlin, the nine domes of St. Basil's Cathedral, Lenin's Mausoleum, the KGB Museum and other symbols of Moscow's great and terrible past, then lighten up and shop Boulevard Ring or people watch in Pushkin Square.

We had a wonderful tour of St Petersburg with Marina. She was a wonderful guide: friendly, cheerful and hugely knowledgable. She collected us promptly at our hotel and we spent a full day discovering the key sights of the city – a perfect introduction that we could never have managed alone. She told us a huge amount about the city, its history and its place in the wider story of Russia. The tour was built around us and what we wanted to do, and Marina and the excellent driver helped make sure we got back a little early as we were heading out for the evening. A magical day!

Wow! Three days, that's not nothing, I mean, it's more like something! We will be able to cover a lot. How about the first day we dedicate to the city centre — all the main places, "must-sees" so called. So you can finally bring it down from your shoulders and settle your mind — you are in Moscow, from now on it will become only more interesting. The second day, I think, we should dedicate to the historical center's off-the-beaten-track places: hidden churches, mansions, maybe a couple of the most interesting museums — promise, no boring ones, only the ones I would go to myself. And the third day, finally, everyone is already pleasantly tired a bit, so we will use more of the public transport and go see what's there on the outskirts of the city. And there it's more of a Soviet vibe, so all the greatest Soviet monuments we leave for the final day. This whole tour can be customised up to your wishes, so you are very welcome to express your ideas on what you'd like to see in Moscow:)

Inclusions: Fun and professional local guide. (Have you expected us to work with someone else, pff!?) , Expert advice on what to do and to see after the tour. We know the best bars, clubs, you name it., All taxes. Obviously. In Russia all the taxes are always included in the price., Private tour. It's you, you and only you. I mean, also your friends, family and lovers..., Customisable itinerary. Really, we are one of the few, who can tailor it to your wishes on the go., Meeting in the hotel lobby. Or at your Airbnb apartment. Or anywhere in the city centre, really., Multiple start times available — a.m., p.m. whenever you like it:), Flexibility during the tour. You want see what's o-o-over there? Okay, let's go have a look!, Iconic places for photo shoots. We know them all!

Exclusions: Gratuities, Food & Drinks

I had an excellent tour with Nikita. He met me in the lobby of my hotel and the tour began as soon as we left. Nikita is very knowledgeable and was able to give me the history of various buildings and neighborhoods as we walked around Moscow. He also gave me insights on life in present day Russia. The wonderful food started at a market where we tried Russian cheese and crepes. We then walked to a monastery and had pastry and tea. We stopped along the way so Nikita could tell me about the history of a building or place. The final stop involved delicious Siberian dumplings. My three-hour tour flew by. It was the perfect combination of food, history, and culture. It was also just the right amount of food for me. We finished at 6:00 pm and I didn’t need dinner that evening. Nikita followed-up afterwards with recommendations for shopping and restaurants during my remaining time in Moscow. I highly recommend this tour.

We had a wonderful trip to Russia and an amazing tour of St Petersburg in early February before the start of the pandemics. The guide for the 2 day tour (I forgot her name) was the best person to do this job . Personable, friendly and informative. She took us to the museums and palaces as well as to nice places for lunch. I was amazed by the Russian churches I have never seen that much gold in any other place. Thanks to the guide and the driver it was possible to see so much more than we could have seen on our own even in a week. BTW traveling in February was not as cold as I imagined. I would recommend this tour to anyone.

10. Vladimir and Suzdal Private Tour (2 days)

Nikolay Sysenko

Vladimir and Suzdal are arguably the most famous destinations on the Golden Ring route that need no introduction! There is no way you can do both in one day unless you’re on a whistle-stop tour. So plan at least two days or skip one of them. I advise you to avoid 'one-day tours' as it will be exausting (at least 8-9 hours in a car/bus) and you'll see very little. If you have just one day, go to Vladimir by train. I offer a two-day trip with a nigth in Suzdal. Since I'm not a licensed travel guide, I will rather be your driver and travel companion during sightseeing providing all the necessary assistance whenever you need it. No boring history lectures or tight schedules, explore everything at your own pace! In order to avoid a long ride on a busy road we may go to Sergiev Posad first with a couple more stops at picturesque places for coffee and snacks. Or go directly to Vladimir, up to you! My vehicle is a Subaru Outback comfortable for 3 passengers (can accommodate 4 though).

Inclusions: Air-conditioned vehicle, WiFi on board

Exclusions: Accommodation, food and admission are not included.

Nikolay organized an amazing three day trip for me. He was very flexible with helping me plan a trip that fit my needs and was even willing to pick me up from the airport. He was a very good driver and his car was comfortable. He knew a lot of information about all the places we visited and was a good travel companion in general for passing the long hours driving. He helped me to pick budget accommodations for our overnights. I really enjoyed my three days spent with him and learned a lot about the history of the golden ring. I enjoyed walking around the small towns and hearing stories. We visited Sergiev Posad, Pereslavl, Rostov, Yaroslavl, Suzdal and Vladimir as well as some smaller stops along the way. He was flexible with how much time we spent at each destination. Overall it was a great trip. I visited in winter but I hope to see some of the cities in summer and would definitely hope to travel with Nikolay again!
