Food was nothing special compared to The restaurants in countryside. A place that i would not consider to revisit. Veal was good but the bread in the table was dry had been sat there for hours and not good. Pasta with truffles lacked the taste. Seabass was served without lemon and was tasteless. Really not the quality for Italian quisine.

Nice and discreet located. Quite small. Top of the art owner/Maitre D’ . Friendly but upper class atmosphere. Quite interesting cooking. A special note for Fiori di Zucchine prepared differently from the one we had few years ago in the Jewish Quarter of Rome. Started with fried baby squids excellent done. Also the home made pasta with prosciutto was very good. I’ll suggest to start with a bite of the excellent home made bread and few drops of the local olive oil. For me was a surprise to find such a robust taste and balanced acidity so farther north. Maybe a bit less perfumed than the southern oils, but, again good touch in the mouth. Portions a bit small. Price decent.Dear sirFirst of all let me thank you very much for your review on trip Advisor, i am very happy you appreciated our restaurant. As regard your concern about the portion size and price i would like you to note that you were five people in your table and shared two appetizers, you only ate the "TORTELLI",off course they might look small but in fact they are not because they are meant to be for one person. However i hope to see you again in Imola.Best regards Leonardo Mantovani

My wife and I have stayed in Dozza and enjoyed a wonderful time from June 1st to June 9th 2015. We visited Dozza and travelled the country side which was very peaceful. We had the pleasure of eating at all the restaurants in the old town of Dozza and several in the country side. For Il Campanaccio to exist beside a road side gas station for 20 years leads to only one comment .... Bravo. The passion of the owner Luciano to his food and the locals who support him as we saw when we had lunch and dinner allows for this " gas truck stop " to exist. Our first visit was for lunch with Maria taking our order. We shared a pasta ,cooked sausage plus 2 contorni one grilled tomatoes the other a mixed grill vegetables. The grilled vegetables had been slowly cooked and then finally grilled to the point that they oozed with a velvet buttery slightly smoked flavour .As we enjoyed our lunch we saw a group of 12 who must have been in a band as we enjoyed their impromtu lyrics receive very good service for such a large group. At the end of their lunch 2 platters of fresh fruit ( apricots and cherries in season ) was placed on their table by Luciano's brother (my polite nickname "The Grizzly"). You say so what? Well, I reply the fruit had been surrounded with crushed ice. Now that is "presentation "!!!When we arrived Saturday for dinner at 9pm dinning until 10,The restaurant was primarily filled with the locals. A couple arrived at 10 to 10 and not refused service as I have seen in other restaurants. Now the food. My wife and I ordered risotto with speck, mushroom and radicco to share 750 Euro. It was creamy and buttery and with the glass of Liano it was a perfect paring. We now ordered the tagliata for 15 Euro to share. It came covered in rocket very thin slices of parma and tomatoes. When I uncovered the layers or rocket parma and tomatoes it exposed this pasture of beef . Slices paper thin maybe not say 1/8 inch made from a 3 1/2 inch piece of beef medium rare to rare as I requested .The slices melted in my mouth and the juices flooding the top of the tongue . It was so so so good I just threw the fork and the knife away and started to make mini rolls of beef filled with rocket , parma and tomatoes .And at the end I used a few pieces of bread to swipe the plate clean that was covered with a mosaic of olive oil, the flecks of parma, dots of rocket and red juice of the beef.To go on to the dolce that my wife and I had would take further words ,but that is for the others who will stop or the locals to enjoy at "IL Campanaccio"Ringraziamo di cuore per le sue splendide parole.

The restaurant does not even worth one star, not to mention two stars. It really makes me wonder how are the stars awarded?!? We are Michelin restaurants aficionados, we travel extensively and always follow the guide, but this time the restaurant is not even close to one Bib Gourmand distinction.Old fashioned food nothing special, truffles with not even a bit of scent/aroma, mediocre food, nothing special. We eat in at least 6-7 michelin stared restaurants per year, but this kind of disapointment we only faced in japan this year...Value for money extremely poor, stay away if you are a connaiseur.

This place is exactly what Dozza needs. Beautiful, modern and simple design. Thankful not traditional. Food is also far from the standard fayre. It is a nice restaurant in a wonderful village. Wine excellent. Service good and friendly. Only been open a couple of months and I am sure it will get better and better. Grazie mille per la bella recensione ed è un piacere sapere di aver dato al borgo un altro punto di riferimento !!! A presto Bower !!!

THE REAL NAME FOR THIS RESTAURANT IS. Piccola Ostreria del Borgo. While staying with friends in Bologna we took a day trip to the charming medieval hill top village of Dozza. After viewing all the paintings up and down all the narrow cobblestone streets and the Castle, we found Piccola Osteria del Borgo a lovely family run rustic restaurant for lunch. The staff even though they do not speak any English are very helpful, for us this was not a problem as some of our party spoke fluent Italian. They not only serve typical Romagna dish's but are vegetarian friendly too, they also sell local wine at a reasonable price. The walls of the little restaurant are covered in artifacts and interesting colourful paintings. We ordered a bottle of chilled prosecco, while our dishes were being prepared. Everything we ordered from the dragon noodles to the mixed grill was excellent, the house wine blended with the meat, and how can we go wrong with coffee and ice cream, the grappa was the icing on the cake. Will defiantly eat here again when we are back in the village.TIP: Do walk out on to their balcony, the view is magnificent on a clear day.Thank you very much for your super review! We'll try to improve our english skills for the next time... we promise! :)

We had a terrific dinner with friends at this friendly, traditional restaurant. Old Romagna dishes like passatelli in brood are prepared with great care, and roasted meat dishes are simple and excellent. The wine list, dominated by local wines, is fairly priced and extensive, and the meal is preceded by a complimentary serving of local sparkling wine. We loved dining on the flower-bedecked outdoor terrace overlooking the valley. Ristorante Cane' was a perfect way to finish a day spent admiring Dozza's justly famous murals. This lovely town is not to be missed if you're visiting nearby Bologna or Ravenna.

I highly recommend this restaurant if you are after genuine good local food. When they mean 0km, it's true. The food is all sourced incredibly locally and you can taste it.I would really recommend the fried polenta and the porcini tagliatelle. The portions are the perfect size so that you aren't stuffed to the point of not feeling well, but you are very satisfied. The staff are incredibly friendly and professional, always ready to recommend something from the menu. The service is fast and the waiters do not bother you constantly (pet peeve in restaurants!).The venue itself is really interesting and remarkable as they are old stables of the Dozza castle just infront.Thank you, it was a pleasure for us to serve you.A heartfelt thanks from all the staff.Daniele Preti
