Beautiful location and very extensive hotel with grounds that seem to go go on forever on the shore of Lago Maggiore. There is something for everyone here. Formed rock pathways snake through beautiful gardens and rocky outcrops, past the wellness centre and on to the kids play area and multiple swimming areas beneath rock pools fed by waterfalls. It really is amazing. The hotel with many bars and restaurants almost take a back seat to everything else on offer.A must visit if you are looking to stay a while or simply dropping in to break the drive, round trip Lugano - Lugano which only takes a couple of hours anyway.Dear Mr Jock,it's really amazing for us to feel your satisfaction about your hotelstay and about our restaurant!thank you for your beautiful words about our garden, our services, our Location and position: we're really happy to know that you appriciated everything and we hope to see you soon.we wish you a nice day!1your sincerelythe teamCamin Hotel Colmegna

We found this place by chance when walking around the town. Got served by the owner who was very friendly. We took meat and cheese platter - selection of local products. Everything we tried has been delicious. Very enjoyable experience. You can also find other options in the menu, including warm sandwiches. Prices are rather high but it is worth paying here a visit, at least once during your stay.

Nice restaurant in the pedestrian area with a small outdoor area heated by lamps. The staff is nice, the food super and well presented. We had vitel tonnee, veal with tuna sauce typical Piedmontese, and gnocchi with pink trout, a very interesting and unusual combination; then we shared Rossini filet and lamb with thyme, both meats really tender and juicy. The chocolate soufflé was excellent too. Portions are middle size, as you expect in a fine restaurant. The price is on the high side. They have wine by the glass or also half bottles. They take credit cards.

Off the beaten path outside of Stresa and Lago Maggiore this little hideaway is a really good restaurant serving food that is anything but typical Tourist Italian fare of pizza and pasta. Instead you get a menu with pheasant, apples and prunes or an obscure homemade pasta with veal, orange, pine nuts, and raisins. The décor is mountain farmhouse and on the chilly day we were there, a fire in fireplace was a nice touch. The coperto came with an aperitif of local wine and a small charcuterie. Service and hospitality was quite good while prices were actually a little below market for this level of creativity and culinary experience.

Thanks to TA we were lucky enough to test this place. This is typically a restaurant I would never have been to from just looking at it from outside. It is very basic and offers simple dishes but they're all made with fresh ingredients. This is probably how it would taste if you were invited to some locals family dinner. Plus service is excellent and extremely friendly. Prices are unbeatable. It is certainly off the beaten track but this is probably where the locals come for a meal. It's definitely worth the detour.

This is a great restaurant --the food is simple but very , very tasty. There is no menu but Vera will explain what they are cooking that day--3 or 4 1st courses, second courses and desserts . In the time we stayed nearby it was very convenient for us to eat here & to practice the Italian we had been learning. So we ate here 4 times and not once did any of the food disappoint . What's more , the price is very good too so it's excellent value. Oh, and Vera, who does the serving, is an absolutely lovely and helpful person too.Thoroughly recommended.

I would have preferred the lamb a little bit pink. but hey - it was great.it is a long way out of town. it took us 40 mins to walk there (up a steep hill) - but i guess that is what taxi's are for.lovely view. would be worth going for the view.oh and by that way it is great value for money

This is a delightful, small (~8 tables) restaurant that is well off the beaten track, but well worth the trek. Glorious food, attentive, efficient, multi-lingual and friendly service. The chef takes pride in periodically coming front-of-house to greet the diners. If you are fastidious or constrained in what you eat then I suggest you check the menu before entering, as it is very limited. Happily, my wife and I are unpretentious and are adventurous when it comes to tasty, well prepared and presented food. We had no problems meeting our desires from the menu (including veal tartare, seafood ravioli, monkfish, tuna, cheesecake, panna-cotta).We were happy to pay ~170€; for a starter, a first course, two mains and two deserts, washed down with a bottle of reasonably priced champagne. There is a 5€ p.p. cover charge, but you do get a bread basket that is varied, ‘more-ish’ and abundant. If it is within your budget, DO NOT pass this charming restaurant by.
