Stayed There Twice: Lovely Campus

Reviewed By 499dwightm

We've stayed here twice and are likely to stay twice more due to travel requirements. The staff are numerous and invariably helpful and attentive. The rooms are spacious and well kept. While we didn't use the indoor pool or workout facilities, they are there and look adequate. There is RV camping with hookups available. The downsides are traffic noise and nothing within walking distance.

No Air Conditioning

Reviewed By mikefJ509RA

They won't tell you that this hotel has no AC, and will just bring you a fan and tell you to leave the windows open. We visited in March, and it was very hot at night. Also, they occasionally have a street parade until 3 am right outside your window - so no sleep at all. Stay ANYWHERE else.

Shabby rooms and Unfriendly Service

Reviewed By douglasanthc

If you are reading reviews of this hotel all the negative comments regarding ugly/dirty room carpet and draperies - they are accurate. The towels are threadbare as well. The public areas of the hotel are nicer and better maintained than the rooms. One evening we had drinks and snacks at the restaurant; the bar was not open at that hour. The service, food, and drinks were excellent. The second day we ate there it was a DISASTER all the way around. The service was slow, various waiters brought things - was indeterminable who our waiter was, the drink order was wrong, and the food was brought sporadically with terrible presentation. But, the main thing - after politely enduring a debacle of an EXPENSIVE lunch (appx 350 pesos for a warm shrimp cocktail that was inedible with celery the main ingredient) we requested our bill. The waiter said "charge to your room?" we said NO! (We never gave him our room number. ) My husband presented our credit card and tucked it into the leather portfolio. Waiter left. The portfolio was EVENTUALLY returned with a printed slip in which my husband signed after adding a gratuity. Yes, we did tip the acceptable minimum. We finished our beer and drink leaving saying goodbye to at least three employees. We are in our 70's so we didn't race outta there. Fast forward, when we got to our room, we received a phone call from a fast talking woman speaking Spanish. When I said *no habla Espanol* she hung up. Then I got another call from a woman who curtly said, "did you just TRY to charge your meal and drinks to your room? I said no. Explained we gave the waiter our credit card. Then she proceeded to ask me who the waiter was, did he take our card to the back room???? ......I said I don't know what he did with our card. Then in about 10 minutes we got a knock on our door, although we had the Privacy sign on door. There was a young woman standing there along with a big man holding one of those credit card machines. The young curt (I would normally use a word starting with a *B* but I am writing publically) saying once again we TRIED to charge the meal to our room, but since we had paid in advance *we had no credit* ...... We asked if the waiter ran our card or not - she never gave a clear answer. To get rid of her and her bouncer-type accomplice my husband gave them our credit card AGAIN which by the way was a different amount. She said it was because *they* had deducted the tip. Ok, happy to have that off my chest. We travelled over 14 days on this trip in Zaca, Guanajuato, and San Luis Potosi staying at various hotels. Quinta Real was the worst, as far as the overall experience. If this was really a classy hotel all that had to happen was a polite phone call from the restaurant stating the waiter was confused and neglected to run our credit card. My husband would have immediately returned to the restaurant from our room to clear things up, but we were treated like we were cheating jerks because their numerous waiters didn't handle things properly.

TERRIBLE stay at Hotel Santa Rita

Reviewed By marivela2015

We are staying at the Hotel Santa Rita since August 5, 2021 and our departure is August 12, 2021, it is a clean and beautiful hotel BUT ……. On the third floor which is where we are staying is the Santero room, there was a wedding today, TERRIBLE experience, they told us that the party would end at 12 at night which was a lie, at approximately 1 in the morning Guests began to leave the room, for which they had to access the part where all the rooms are to go to the elevator and they were really loud, singing, shouting when saying goodbye, etc, etc, we had to call the reception three times to ask them to please ask them to lower the volume, at 1:30 without any consideration the waiters began to put the tables away and they were making too much noise and the talk they had was heard, I had to go out of my room at 1:44 am to ask them to be considerate because they were making too much noise and we couldn't sleep. The day before, on Saturday, August 7, 2021, we had an unpleasant experience in the restaurant of the same hotel with the restaurant's receptionist, the guests entered the restaurant through the hotel and the other people came through another staircase, we were already in the restaurant and they were already fixing a table for us when the lady told us that she had already assigned that table to other people and that we would have to wait approximately 1 hour for a table to be free, even when there was another big table she could have given to rhe other party ... The truth is that our experience has been extremely disappointing …. I do not recommend this hotel it if you want a good place to rest at night after visiting the city. It is a true shame because this hotel has an excellent location! And most of the staff is very friendly

Worst food I had in Zacatecas

Reviewed By Leon d

We went in not knowing anything about the hotel. The restaurant was empty, which should have been the first clue of things to come, but the place looked nice and I went in. It was 2:30pm. I ordered the rib eye steak which they did not have, so I went for the burger instead. My wife ordered fish fillet. The cook was apparently woken up from someplace since he didn't go into the kitchen until after we arrived. The burger was utterly disgusting. The bread was cheap store bought bimbo bread, the meat was also frozen store bought. It was flavorless. No seasoning, bland and soggy. There was a piece of nopal in the burger which gave it an ugly acid taste. The fries were very oily and super salty, almost to the point of being uneatable. The wife my fish ordered was dry and exceedingly salty as well. I would say to never eat at this place. I could not finish eating the burger, nasty as it was. Do not eat here. Ever. Please.
