Lovely, relaxing stay

Reviewed By prayerglow2

Had a lovely stay in this hotel. Comfortable room with nice bathroom and lovely bath. Nice touches like the toilettries, bottles of water and delicious biscuits in the room. Golf course was good - very well maintained and clearly sighposted. Pool was very calming, warm enough to be relaxing without feeling like a bath with clean and tidy changing rooms. Breakfast buffet had lots of choice, regularly replenished and well presented. Dinner was delicious. The staff were all very helpful and friendly. Downsides - booked a round of golf only to discover 1) the pro shop closed an hour and a half before the booked tee time and 2) we weren't made aware until our arrival that there was a big golf tourament on while we were there so the course was off limits for most of our stay. The leisure staff were great and helpful but not the best start. Ordered room service - quick and easy, and the food was nice but there was a problem with the payment. They were quick to call our room and point out the problem. When payment failed a second time we were asked to go to the restaurant to pay. So much for relaxing in our pj's after a very long day. We got to the restaurant to pay only to find they'd keyed in the wrong card number, redone it and got the payment through but didn't bother to tell us! Get the communication issues sorted and this would be an excellent hotel.

Great place to relax and unwind.

Set in beautiful gardens on the banks of the river and a stones throw from the Ironbridge this hotel is a dream for those wanting to relax and unwind after some local sight seeing. Staff are all friendly welcoming and very polite. The food is far better than I expected, all fresh and very well cooked. Breakfast was lovely. (Fussy chefs review). Beds and bed linen were of a high standard and we're very comfortable. We stayed in room 1 and had expected to be a noisey stay but was pleasantly surprised as we heard nothing. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel in the future.

Premier Inn Telford Central hotel

Telford is a gleaming, hi-tech town, and a stay at Premier Inn Hotel Telford Central puts you at the heart of the industry and success that's happening here. Unexpected parking fine

Reviewed By fluffievelluto

Needed a quick overnight stop before working in the area next day. Tend to book Premier Inns as the standards are consistent. This hotel was exactly as expected, easy to find and even though I arrived very late I was made to feel most welcome. Only issue was 2 weeks later when I received a parking fine, even though I'd input my registration into their parking app. However a quick call to the hotel sorted this out.

A week in the Shropshire countryside

My husband and I were on a 5 day (4 night) break to this hotel. On first impressions on the website it looked good. The hotel is very dark, dark wallpaper, furniture, paint and even the carpet. Our bedroom was nice overlooking the front garden, the Bed was awful, one side had a dip, not been changed for years I guess, the other problem was the shower, we get a better flow from our watering can. The food was OK, some nights the staff were more attentive than others. A very curt NO when I asked for cream on my dessert ? would I recommend this establishment- no not really, it could be lovely, as it is in a beautiful area, but there is nowhere close to walk to, only up a hill.

Wonderful hotel

I recently stayed here for two nights with my children as a base for West Midlands safari park and it was everything we could have asked for. Great room, great restaurant and a great location. I usually struggle to sleep in hotel beds but this has to have been the comfiest hotel bed I have ever slept in. So much that I didn’t want to get out of it each morning! We had food at the restaurant the first night, which was delicious, and ventured out to the city centre the second night, which is walking distance from the hotel. We had a lovely welcome gift as pictured. Breakfast each morning was delicious with plenty of options available, hot and cold, to suit everyone. Only a 30 minute drive from West Midlands safari park which was perfect. The swimming pool, sauna & and jacuzzi was an added bonus after a long day at the safari park. Check in was speedy and the reception staff were very friendly, super helpful and informative, as were the catering staff. Would highly recommend and will definitely be returning.

Superb food - loved it

Visited Shakespeare for family birthday meal, what a treat. It was exceptional & we are quite fussy where we eat out. Give it a go! Starters: king prawn, mushroom, salt & chilli chicken, all were amazing, big portions & absolutely delicious & piping hot. Mains: hunter’s chicken, surf & turf, salmon & steak. All presented beautifully & tasted amazing. The food was top notch, can’t believe this was our first visit, we will be back. Environment very cosy & comfortable. Service was very good. Really good value for money. All 5 of us loved the food/quality & we will be back. Thank you.

Beautiful rooms, but better service and food at a premier Inn

The park in the name must refer to the business park this is nestled into. The closest actual park is about 2 miles away. It has a reasonable sized garden for a house of is size but unless it includes the car park of be amazed if it were 2 acres as described. My friend garden is at least twice the size of this. It's also a stone's throw away from a huge petrol forecourt complete with Greg's, a coffee shop and a Burger King. The rooms were lovely. Ensuite bathrooms were immaculate. Makes was very comfortable and the pillows were huge. Rather too big for me to be honest but they might have had slimmer ones in request to be fair. Really good heavy curtains which blocked light well. A tiny quibble was a broken draw cord on the curtains which I mentioned on the first day but was never fixed. Now we come to the area where the hotel really falls down and they describe it as the jewel in their crown ... The restaurant. We were staying on a deal with breakfast and a 3 course dinner included and were there for 3 nights so got to try out a lot on the menu. Every evening they asked us what time we wanted dinner. Every evening when we arrived at that time no one was there to show us to our table. My Mum struggles with walking and standing and was booked into a disabled room but we were left standing 10-15 minutes each night. The second day after a long wait we sat ourselves. When a waiter arrived they studiously waited 10 minutes before asking us if we wanted to order but we hadn't been given menus. The same would happen at breakfast each morning. The first day we were waiting so long we sat ourselves at the only table laid for 3. We clearly weren't the only ones to experience this. On the last day an earlier bird had clearly had to seat themselves and had done so at the table laid for us. A new table was not laid when they did this. Instead when we arrived for breakfast we were treated to the Fawlty Towers show. Instead of adding 2 place settings to an existing table the waiter wheeled a new table into the middle of the room. He then went out and back bringing 1 item at a time. First a table cloth then bowls, then plates, then knives and forks then spoons. We finally got seated but there was no salt and pepper, or fruit juice glasses. We asked for glasses and were brought huge water glasses instead. No butter, again we asked and a plate pulled with individual butter packets was brought. Instead of softened butter on a dish that we'd had before. On a side note for breakfast, if you like coffee you may have to buy up the petrol station. The first morning we got amazing coffee. Nice and strong. The next day it was like brown water. We asked for a stronger pot after the first and I think they put in an extra teaspoon. Next day when we initially ordered coffee we let them know we liked it very strong. Again light brown water. Looked like tea if you put any milk in it. The meals were slow and huge. The plan we were on included 3 course so we didn't want to throw that away but the volumes were clearly designed for 2 courses. I would have been satisfied with 1. The first night we were supposed to start at 7. We finished at 9. The next day we booked for 6:30 and finished at 9! Between the first and second course on the second night there was a 40 minute wait, more on that later. The restaurant is supposed to be their highlight so we were looking forward to some good food. I won't go through every meal just some highlights to give you an idea. First night we tried the cod. It was overcooked and dry served on undercooked pearl barley and 3 semi raw finger sized vegetables. The sauce tasted like a little cream mixed with a little fish stock with no seasoning. Pretty awful. The next night my parent's had chicken in mushroom and shallot gravy whilst I had the superfood salad with ginger and lime dressing. I ordered this with a salmon fillet. About 20 minutes after our starter had been cleared they informed me they didn't have fillets would smoked salmon be ok. I declined this and requested chicken. 20 minutes later the food arrived. My parents had clearly been reheated and the sauce had no sign of shallots and mushrooms. The vegetables were so over cooked that the whole carrots just fell apart and turned to mush. My superfood salad bar the pomegranate could have been straight from a pack from Lidl and the dressing tasted of balsamic and nothing else. And another night the steak. Ordered as rare. If I looked really hard it was a little pink right in the middle. The vegetables were actually cooked ok though so that was a first! Garlic butter sauce ... Well read the next bit. Flavours were the most consistent part of the food in that they were always absent. If the directory said chili garlic, lime ginger, shallots then you could test assured it didn't taste of that. Everything was boring and bland. There were 3 dishes including starters and desserts that we thought were good over entire stay. So about 3 out of 25 dishes! ( We had the same main the first night) A vegetarian pie as a main, that was actually really good, a risotto starter and a soup that were good. Not great but good. So I would order it again but I wouldn't go back to the restaurant to order it! To be honest if we had been somewhere more central with other restaurants we would have asked for a refund on the food and eaten elsewhere but there was nowhere else to go (apart from the burger king and Greg's at the petrol station although I did think about it). Every meal we had out during our holiday was better than the meals at the hotel restaurant with better service. Conclusion, we decided next time we go to the area we'll stay in a Premier Inn. The rooms won't be as nice but the food will be better and if we stay in a metro one it'll have a better location for a fraction of the price.
