Wonderful hospitality
Reviewed By uwenienstedtThe proprietors make you feel at home the moment you walk in the door. The hotel and amenities are in impeccable shape. Our highlight was a wine tasting (with accompanying matching food) from the owner. He brought out 5 wonderful local reds and whites and we spend an hour learning and enjoying about the region, culture and wine. Location is perfect in the center of the village.

Reviewed By Clive RA one night stop over while driving to Italy. We arrived at dusk but could see the hotel was very attractive and had stunning views. The evening meal was fantastic and breakfast next morning the same. Our room was very comfortable with well equipped bathroom, but the icing on the cake was the balcony with the views. Fantastic.

Reviewed By L958UYkimwWe had a really nice stay. Staff are amazing and food delicious. The wellness and spa are highly recommended. Hiking in the mountains is a must. Hope for the possibility to have a glass of prosecco or other drinks in the outdoor jacuzzi when I am coming next year.

Service: One example: This year, due to traffic problems we arrived at 23:30 o'clock. No problem, the owner cooked us some fresh food so we wouldn't have to go to sleep with an empty stomach after the 17 hours trip. Any special wishes? The owner can help you with about everything. Food: Starting the skiing/snowboarding day with a proper breakfast is important. Every morning you have a very big buffet to choose from (photos attached). Fresh and good coffee to it, voila. Lunch you mainly eat on the ski huts anyway. About the dinner? We had a range from 4 to 7 courses for one night. Special Gala dinner included. The cook conjures unbelievable dishes with an emphasis on regional food but also from different countries / continents. Rooms: The rooms are always nicely cleaned and decorated. A clean bathroom is important for a comfortable stay and this is guaranteed at Hotel Gertraud. Spa: A nice lounge is located in the basement with a whirlpool, a sauna, a steam sauna and showers (rain shower). Additionally comfortable cots/sunbeds are there to relax. A small space is outside to cool down after the sauna. Other: Some dice and other games are available for anyone that wants to play some games with friends while having a drink. A ski room is in the basement where you can leave your skis/snowboard for the nights and your ski/snowboard boots are warmed up and dried. Free WiFi is available in the whole Hotel although it is not the best (because of the location I think it's hard to find fast internet in whole Solda). But who needs that in this surrounding? Environment: Solda is a beautiful village in northern Italy. It is very small and quiet. It's lovely to make a night walk. Enjoy the mountains around you from about every room. Conclusion: The Hotel Gertraud is a beautiful hotel in a nice and friendly atmosphere and good food. Not only because of that, my family goes there since the 1960s.

Reviewed By lizardindiaYou can walk or even drive there if you are on the very lazy side or for some reason can't walk or maybe you could go there by a horse chart which makes the journey romantic and fun. Once there You'll find a very comfortable ambience with a fireplace and in Summer they have also a nice outdoor area. The menu is good sized and the quality of the products they use great. The make their own bread and serve all kind of local specialities. If You need to adjust the menu for diet reasons know that they are aware and glad to serve you a proper dish but maybe do call them before and tell them when booking.

Salade bar is fresh and plenty of choices, meat is very well cooked and very tender. Service/staff is young, which in this hotel/restaurant is good as they are flexible and enjoy their work and also they are well trained to put the customers and their experience first. Decent prices. The interior is what you can expect of a grand hotel which has been there for a while. The use of wood is common but still stylish.

Reviewed By 320stefandThe hotel is fine. Clean rooms, nice views, ok bed. Wifi is not that great. Breakfast is good. It’s a pity people are smoking right in front of the entrance of the hotel. My problem with the hotel is the terrible food in the restaurant. Almost everything is from a can, nothing is fresh.

Reviewed By Lisa BWhat a treat staying in this little village in this simple hotel at bottom of Stelvio pass. The hospitality was exceptional and dinner was a treat. Ruth looked after us well, while her brother cooked us a delcious and inexpensive meal which was great after coming out of Switzerland which is pricey. Highly recommend.

Ski-holiday with my family
Reviewed By Filip GSo by myself and also my family I'm so happy. This exact hotel is maybe 3stars, but from my point, it deserves more. Stay was really good, everything works and you could feel that family atmosphere from that place. The two best things are definitely - the stuff which works here, and you can see how much they love their work. - and the food, omg, that's Italian cuisine = easy but brought to perfection, we fall in love with head-chefs Fabian work! I can sincerely recommend staying here to everyone.
