Reviewed By Heather CMy family of four (2 teenagers) stayed here for 9 nights in 2 superior cottages. Positives: - I cannot say enough good things about Lin (manager/cook)! So friendly and went out of her way to prepare home style meals for my family. Cooking is very traditional Thai and she introduces you to all kinds of new local foods. This can be difficult for the teenage pallet but my husband and I enjoyed the adventures in eating. In fact each meal was a personal request, a trip to the market, and done with great care. Delicious sticky rice and mango!! She met us with a smile each day and her English is terrific. She confirmed plans at the elephant park, brought my son a box of macaroons for his birthday, gave us a special “to go” box of candies bananas. She left for a couple days to Bangkok and brought us back a delicious treat in a bamboo cup. Lin is a special lady! - every cottage has a nice porch with lounge chairs that face the river, nicely decorated and clean. - it is beautiful and peaceful here. Very quaint and definitely makes you feel that you are in Thailand. - filtered water (which is a big necessary here) and tea all the time. -feels very safe -bed is comfy, air conditioning, fridge/freezer. Negatives: -official restaurant menu is limited -no bar, sometimes you can get a beer. -you cannot walk to a restaurant or store from here so make sure you have a ride. -the ride into the city is a half hour. -the resort definitely has some wear and tear, so don't come looking for perfect. Outdoors is well manicured. - I’m not sure if it’s because we are the only ones here but there is often no staff around unless you catch them at meal times. - no safe for locking up any valuables. - restaurant is not air conditioned.

This tropical paradise is run by a Thai German family with lot's of love for gardens and Thai architecture. Here everybody is welcome, families with kids and everybody else. We can give you information and inspiration to explore Thai villages, the city and nature which is easy to reach as we are in the middle of everything. Perfect bicycle trips along the river Ping.She is an acclaimed Thai food cooking teacher plus English German speaking guide, he a seasoned traveler around Asia with many years working experience for a famous tour company in Munich.From here you can start your trips or just enjoy the garden and village with it's multitude of impressions by it's temples and schools and houses and farms.There is a huge pool around (4 km) and plenty of local transport to go local (by bicycle or bike or car or taxi or songthaew).Airport and city are 12 km away, no noise disturbances as we are in a peaceful and quite part of the village with garden setting.

Reviewed By Bangk0kBl0keMarcel is the consummate host in his fabulous resort. We felt thoroughly looked after and part of the family during our five day stay at the Golden Teak. The place is beautifully presented and kept with character oozing from the rooms. We really enjoyed the pool and the attention of the dogs and cats. We had excellent breakfasts every day and had a couple of wonderful evening meals too. Marcel took us for a cycle ride on the morning after we arrived, taking us to some of the local sights and visiting the school and clinic where we were able to interact with some of the locals. For us this was a much different place to stay than we would normally do but it was all the better for it. We would recommend staying here to any of our friends. No grumbles about the place in the least bit but just be aware that the resort isn't all that convenient for Chiang Mai city centre unless you have your own transport or arrange a driver.

The rooms are spacious and fully equipped with AirCondition, TV, Hot Shower and Microwave. Bicycles can be borrowed for free to explore the 700 years old ruins of the Wiang Kum Kam Underground City. Motobikes are can be rented. Got hungry? We recommand to taste the local thai cusine of the many small restaurants in the village around the resort. For breakfast, you can also order the european breakfast buffet of Mr. Rolf and team. It will be served in the unique garden designed by Ms. Pao.

Reviewed By johnhqjrService beyond expectations is what’s delivered as normal by Rolf’s family and team. Top of the line full breakfast that rivals what you might expect in a boutique luxury hotel. The garden is lush, with many birds singing, and the pool welcoming just steps from your room. Finally, when it was clear my car remote needed a replacement battery, Rolf simply pulled out his fix-it kit with battery and replaced it in 5 minutes. For Rolf, it was all in another days top of the line care at his little resort. So yes, impressive it was, and beyond kind. Thank you for everything!

The living space is open but with fans - we had a double room house (4+5) - recommended if more than 2 of you - and others looked more enclosed. The fans kept the mosquitoes away. And at this time of year: amazing. The people humble and really friendly and breakfast is fantastic. Even provided a tray everyday for our over tired son! Some great restaurants not only on site but also on the 106 road. Many authentic, some not so, the not so authentenic restaurant which is well worth a visit is 'nanajungle'. Pool is really refreshing. Beautiful grounds. We had a car - I think this is key. This is a truly a peaceful place and great to come back too. Thanks staff at Lana Rice Barn.

Far from city but nice.
Reviewed By Inmind EWe stayed 4 nights there. The first day we got really bad a/c do we moved to next room and was much better. The staff were nice and kind. The place is quiet. A litter far far from the city. But if you rent a car or bike is okay. A bit difficult to get around if you don't rent a bike. We tried looking for uber on app but still difficult to get one. So we just hired local tuk tuk. No restaurant around the hotel. It's dark and quiet on that street at night. Comfortable beds. Clean rooms. Good shower. No telephone in the hotel room. If you need something have to walk to the reception which is not far. Have 2 cats in the hotel. Lovely garden and coffee shop there. Resonable prices.

They welcomed me with a refreshing herbal drink made from some of the leaves found in their organic garden. Just being there was a breath of fresh air. Found myself completely revitalised.

Reviewed By kajakenyaComfortable rooms. Quiet resort. The staff goes out of their way to help you with taxis, meals, excursions. One day one of the English speaking hotel staff walked 1/2 km down the road with us to make sure we found our Uber driver who had overshot our resort. They are soooo willing to go above and beyond what is expected. Thankyou, we had a very enjoyable stay at this resort.
