Wonderful Week

This hotel is nothing less than stunning. Views to die for, spotlessly clean, great modern rooms. The food is incredible, the buffet is really good, the choice in a la carte well worth a visit, we always found plenty to eat in every restaurant. We’ve seen some comments about the wine, but we found the rose really lovely and one of our party is very picky. The best part about the hotel though is the staff. Every single person was lovely, really helpful and made you feel like they were pleased to see you. A special mention to the wonderful Adina who looked after us so well in the bar. One of the nicest hotels we’ve stayed in for a lovely chilled week, can’t wait to return.

Stayed for 10days beginning of June and will never be returning. Customer service skills are shocking - having to ask 3 + times for the simplest of things before actually received. Food is ridiculous boring and bland and lukewarm everyday - the ques were outrageous to even get the food. Says bbq opens at 3pm thats a lie as doesn't till 345 so ignore the signs. My room was never cleaned once since arrived and no fresh towels received throughout my stay. Cleaners knock on door at 8 am! Who is even up that early on holiday! Noisy dated rooms which weren't cleaned. One bar open in evening with 3 members of staff serving hundreds of people so the que was a joke. You go all inclusive to not spend extra money daily but have spent money out for meals most days and in the shop as the food choice is poor for myself and my child. Dirty plates left by poolside for days on end, park is falling apart with peddles off bikes and flooring ripped up. Blocked drains around the resort which stink! Really disappointed with the customer service and hotel! Sad that my first holiday after covid had to be this!! Saved and spent a lot of money as a single parent to make memories and have been let down.

This impressive hotel is in a quiet position only 200m from the beach, 2km from Kos town, & 1km from the marina. lovely hotel

Just returned from 10 days at Platanista, good location, great staff, lovely rooms, and good food. The entertainment however is a complete let down. We chose this hotel as needed to please 10 people aged 8-70, this seemed a good choice. first 3 days had some entertainment (perhaps a little corny) but children liked it, suddenly all stopped with no explanation, through the grapevine it would seem there was something wrong with the visas for the entertainment staff. Evening entertainment stopped as well, we had 3 good external acts but after that nothing. Surely after the TUI adverts as a family hotel something could have been done? there must be plenty of acts on Kos Island. Tried to speak to manager but was never available. We still enjoyed our holiday, but would be more suitable to adults only.

What a shambles!

Reviewed By familyinswindon

Where do I start!? Similar to other recent reviews, this place really wasn’t ready for the arrival of guests after a long closure through the pandemic. We arrived on 2nd June for a week, having previously emailed both Jet2 and the hotel direct to confirm it would be fully up and running with all inclusivities and amenities as advertised and the reply from both was “yes”. Well sadly upon arrival at 10.30pm it was painfully clear straight away this was not the case. We were all hungry after a long day of travelling, so after checking in were told that the evening buffet opens at 23.00 for an hour. So we waited, tired and hungry with a group of other equally tired and hungry new arrivals to be told after checking several times with reception (who kept telling us please wait it will be open), for someone from the bar to chuck a box of sweaty baguettes at us. There was probably 20 baguettes tops - for around 50 of us. By this point the all inclusive bar had closed and so we couldn’t even get a free drink! Back to our room - to find the air conditioning wouldn’t be operating until mid June (defo no mention of this when I booked) and so proceeded the start of 7 of the most uncomfortable nights sleep I have EVER endured. Many guests were upset and frustrated by this - some after complaining were eventually given aircon. Others left the hotel and stayed elsewhere. We complained several times - got nowhere and to add insult to injury were offered a fan - at a charge!!!! We had to wait 4 days for a jet2 rep to arrive to negotiated a free fan for us. To be honest it didn’t make the slightest of difference. My children were sleeping on the cold tiled floor in an attempt to stay cool (the room was on average between 24-28 degrees centigrade every night - stifling!!). There was no teen lounge as advertised (our children are 11 and 13 so this was a factor in our decision to book here!) . Day time entertainment for teenagers was non existent. The pools are large and the slides are fun for children - that’s the only good thing at this hotel. Although the music piped into the speakers round the pool are clearly from a lifeguards phone or similar because every day it was very loud hardcore house or music with non stop expletives in - hardly suitable for families. Food is mediocre and nothing is labelled in the buffet (don’t come here if you are a vegan / vegetarian/ have allergies / intolerances / coeliac - it would very dangerous). The “snacks” advertised outside of meal times are a handful of sweaty baguettes that disappear within minutes. Rooms are large but very dated and the bed was like sleeping on a board - awful. The shop didn’t open until our last day and all the shared facilities supposedly available at the other sites were either not available to use or at a charge (not previously as advertised either). Entertainment started partially through our stay but was a very low standard. We chose to catch the bus into Kos. Do not stay here if you have mobility issues - the whole site is based on a steep hill and they don’t care about situating anyone in unaccessible rooms - there were people with pushchairs and wheelchairs staying in rooms far up such a steep hill! Reception are the most obtuse, rude people I have ever encountered. Tim particularly - this man has nothing but contempt for guests. My family and I have stayed at many “value / budget hotels” - it is not our expectations that are disproportionate. This hotel is a mess, I urge the product team at Jet2 to revisit your contract with them and how you are selling this resort. I would never recommend this hotel or this chain of hotels. I will be seeking money back from Jet2 asap for this absolute shambles of a stay.

Ultra all Inc, yes, but..

Reviewed By alisonhJ746FB

Giving 4/5 because the hotel is billed as five stars, but it ain't. In common with turkey, five stars here isn't five stars in somewhere like Hong Kong or London. Not bad by any means though a few minor quibbles which don't bother me, but clearly annoyed others. What the small print doesn't tell you: Pebbly beach, no alcoholic drinks at the beach bar, soda only. Pool open 10 til 6 only. If you want a four poster at the pool, 10 Euros to book. Beach/pool towels are available but you have to put down a10 euro deposit at reception, get a ticket, and redeem it at the pool bar at 10am. Cocktails ain't great (avoid the kir royale and there's no mint in the mojito!) Be nice to the bar staff though... They take a lot of crap. There were only ever two barmen on duty for the main bar so be prepared to wait for 20 minutes plus. The "nicer" restaurant needs reservation a day in advance even if you are ultra all Inc and it looks quiet. The Red Sky rooftop bar is shut completely. The spa is only staffed on certain days. Poolside relaxation spoiled by dated music. Good points: housekeeping was more than on point, they are the happiest housekeeping I've ever seen! Food is plentiful and varied Welcome bottle of wine is good, balcony great for private sunbathing. You don't need a shuttle to the beach, it's at the end of the drive. Reception are lovely and will do their best for you. Head up the beach to the Ramira and get a massage there, 35 euro for an hour and they are lovely. Rent a car or bike and head to Zia for relaxed and scenic shopping.

Great Hotel, Great Location, Friendly Staff

Reviewed By GayLondonTraveler

After staying in the Blue Lagoon Ocean Hotel for a week, my husband and I decided to extend our holiday by another 5 days. As the Blue Lagoon was fully booked, we decided to book a room at this hotel after reading great reviews and with it being just a 30 min walk from the Blue Lagoon Rooms  We initially booked a ‘Superior Double’. When we got taken to the room, it was situated in a long corridor. As the hotel was built on a hill, this corridor was in the hillside making it fully enclosed, which in-turn made everything that passed through the corridor echo very loudly. From other residents walking and talking on the way to and from their rooms, wheeling suitcases and SLAMMING DOORS!  The room itself was basic, and very traditional with wooden furniture, a large bathroom, fridge and climate control. We had 2 single beds, which always grates on me when we are married couple, but I have to say they were so comfromtable. What we found strange was that we had to pay to use the safe. Luckily my husband is quite tech savvy and managed to work out how to use it without paying. Another thing which is chargeable was the wi-fi. This is something we have never experienced before in a 4* hotel, but as we had a good package with our mobile providers we didn’t need it.  The view from the balcony overlooked the hotel ground, pool, entertainment area and restaurants.  The first evening was horrendous. Although the entertainment finished at 11pm, the music went on till 1am and then we had to contend with people coming home down the corridor up until 4am. The walls were so thin in the rooms, we heard everything. And I mean EVERYTHING.  Having very little sleep we went to reception to complain the next day, and although they couldn’t move us that night, we were promised a move the following day. Once we were moved. We found ourselves in a suite. Now this room was stunning. On 2 levels, with a seating area, gorgeous balcony, overlooking the same hotel facilities, but on the other side of the hotel, so not so close to the entertainment area. The room was very quiet, although the TV didn’t work, but you don’t go on holiday to watch TV so this really didn’t bother us. The bed was large double and incredibly comfortable much like the original room, but it was nice to have a double bed. I realise the review of the rooms is mixed, however I just wanted to be honest to allow you to make your own decision, I would definitely recommend spending the extra money to book a suite. If we ever return to the hotel, we definitely will.  Hotel  The hotel itself is very pleasant. Large and welcoming reception area. The hotel is part of a large group all situated close to each other. In the group there is a water park, large gym, tennis courts, darts area and table tennis area. As we stayed at the end of the season and due to Covid, the water park and other hotels were closed, but that didn’t stop us enjoying our stay.  There is also an onsite shop which sells almost everything. We looked everywhere for earplugs to block out the noice for our second night in the first original room and the hotel shop was the last place we looked. And boom. There they were!  The hotel has a lot of free sun beds, seating areas to enjoy the pool or drinks in the sun, however I think this maybe due to the time of year.  The hotel is very family friendly, however we didn’t really notice any screaming kids. They all seemed to be very well behaved and under control, which for a couple who only usually book adults only hotels, this was a massive relief!  On our last day we ever heard the hotel manager talk about his reindeer farm on the hotel grounds. We looked at each puzzled as a greek Island is the last place I expected to see reindeers. Having asked reception about it, they confirmed and advised it was literally a 5 min walk.  Off we went and there they were. All 14 of them, lazing around in the sun. They all look very well looked after and even came up to the fence to say hello and let us stroke their heads. You have to go and see them if you stay here!  Restaurants There was only one main restaurant on site, however they did have an indoor and outdoor eating space which was nice on the warm evenings.  As we booked All Inclusive there seemed to be food and snacks all throughout the day. They had the usual themed nights of course, salad bars, hot foods, desserts. There was also a live cooking area in the outside eating space which offered meats, freshly made pizza etc.  The food was very nice, fresh hot and with plenty of options to suit any pallet.  The highlight for us through was the resident cats which stalked the outside dinning are for any scraps that fall onto the floor. They were so well behaved. Not bothering any dinners, just sat watching people eat hoping they would take pity and share the food. Looking at the cats, they certainly weren’t starving and seemed to be very well looked after by the hotel. I must admit, I did find myself getting an extra plate of meat just to feed the cats, and looking around, I definitely wasn’t the only one!  The pool side bar is where you got your drinks from during the day and evening. House spirits were included with standard all inclusive. Half-board prices were reasonable, and there was an Ultra All Inclusive option to upgrade available (I believe €19 per day) and this entitled you to top shelf spirits, but we found the house spirits were generous and more than enough. Entertainment. The entertainment was the usual All Inclusive hotel entertainment, but it was very good!  Different themes every night from Quiz nights, dance competitions, bingo and greek dancing. We only left the hotel for a night out in Kos once as the entertainment was so good. I have to give credit to the entertainment manager who really took pride on ensuring all guests had a great evening. Then we found him the following day running the Water Aerobic sessions in the pool which proved to be very popular!  Staff All the staff were friendly and welcoming and always served with a smile and a friendly hus in on our first day. She clearly takes pride in her work and it was clear she wanted to ensure that all guests, not just us had a great time while staying at the hotel.  Upon arrival, she arranged early check in for us and she was the one who stood and listened to my complaints about theello. One person I would like to mention is Moschoula who was on reception. She was there most of the time and checked first room, with patience and understanding. Moschoula also arranged for free wifi access for us and the room upgrade.  We had several conversations with her during our stay and she couldn’t do enough to ensure we had everything we needed. She went over and above her job and turned a disappointing experience on our first few days into a positive and very enjoyable stay.

I have called from the Uk twice and still not rectified, reception extremely unhelpful claiming there’s nothing they can do. Feel as though a basic standard for a hotel room is dry towels and clean water to drink, very unhappy. No room change, no help. Wouldn’t recommend.

Good location on the beach with a beautiful view of the sea and mountains. Bungalow structure and very big room with a huge terrace facing the sea. Everything was very clean (daily cleaning and change of the towels). It might be a bit outdated but in general, the complex is really comfortable and it did not make a difference to our stay. Good food in the buffet. The staff is very kind and willing to help at any time. The swimming pool was very nice and large. There were many sunbeds both for the swimming pool and for the beach, and we never had problems finding one free and they were also free of charge. The minimarket staff (Georgos and Johanna) were super friendly and fun. We had a good time and it was a good choice for us.

An excellent example of a good quality hotel in Kos Greece

Reviewed By paulwU9346FX

My wife and I have visited Continental Palace hotel, Kos, over 20 times and find it excellent. The hotel is situated in large well-kept gardens in a good location. The staff are very helpful and there is nothing that is too much trouble for them. All the rooms are spacious and regularly cleaned as is the rest of the hotel. The restaurant is large and the seating is well organized. There is a good variety of food, identified with labels, that suits all tastes. As far as we are concerned the quality of food over the years has been excellent and there is no change this year in spite of the difficulties in supply following covid and the Ukrainian war. There is a snack bar in the grounds with reasonably priced meals with a large well kept swimming pool next to it. Buses pass the front of the hotel going to Kos town, approx. 1Km away, and taxis are available on request. The majority of guests return year after year and as far as we are concerned that speaks for itself. In conclusion we would don’t hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone.
