Stunning family holiday
Reviewed By The_HlocalsWe stayed in a two bedroom beach front villa for one week. What a lovely boutique hotel to relax and unwind. Our villa was very clean. Only issue was the shower, which soaked the floor after use. The pool was stunning and very quiet. There was always a bed available (not sure if that would remain the same during peak season). The staff and service were exceptional (big shout out to “Ozzy”, service manager). We loved the a’la carte restaurant. Agreco farm and restaurant was worth a visit too. You get a tour around the farm before being served another lovely meal. If you want to venture out, the city is only a 15 minute taxi ride away where there are some lovely shops, harbour and quaint restaurants. There is a nice restaurant opposite too next to Orion hotel. The only issue we weren’t prepared for was the rocky beach and sea. Having two children under 12 meant it wasn’t very safe for them to swim in. I know their beach is protected because the turtles lay their eggs here but we didn’t read anywhere how rocky this beach was. Apart from that, we all had a very relaxing week and enjoyed our stay.

A very friendly and hospitable environment combined with the recently refurbished hotel is that every traveler needs for his vacations. Mary Hotel is located in the center of Platania Rethymnou so the visitors can have what they need in a minute walk. Platanias is a touristic, nice and quiet place with many cafes, supermarkets, restaurants and souvenir shops. The beautiful beach of Platania awarded with a blue flag, is located 100 meters from the hotel. The beautiful city of Rethymnon is only 5 km from Mary Hotel. Recommended for families and couples who want to relax.

Our suite was very comfortable, air conditioned and spotlessly clean with its own terrace facing directly onto a good sized pool. The Mary Hotel team are all so friendly and helpful - nothing is too much trouble. The breakfasts are freshly prepared and charmingly served every morning by Mrs Jenny and her team. The bar serves great drinks and there is always someone to chat to. Highly recommended.

Reviewed By 540markkukVery friendly personnel, nice and quiet hotel. In April no restaurant, no breakfast but otherwise we liked a lot. Breakfast can be found near by easily. Location is excellent, a short distance to Rethymnon, buses and taxes are very cheap. Many good restaurants near by.

The breakfast was delicious every morning lots to choose from the staff were absolutely amazing thank you to them all we had an amazing holiday will be back again in September

Reviewed By LaylakelliemaiWe Visited here October 2021. In a positive sense I need to say the staff are very friendly and polite, they work very long hours. Unfortunately though the all inclusive aspect is shocking worst I’ve ever been on, the alcohol is very limited self service beer, cheap horrible wine during the day only! In the evening your choice is watered down ouzo, brandy, red vodka?! And Raki all was not nice to taste at all. So I thought I’d choose to drink coffee but there is only a machine that is switched off by 11pm not to be switched back on until breakfast next day, I enjoy a coffee if I wake during the night and earlier in the morning in fact I’d rather have a kettle in my room to make and choose when to have a brew this hotel does not provide this basic need. In addition I’d like to mention that there is a daily charge if you want to purchase the remote control for the air conditioning again a basic need not being met. The food is repetitive and very basic The is freezing. I hate to be negative but I think people should be aware before they book here. The cleanliness of our room was very good

Reviewed By maria11georgiouStayed in this hotel 31st May-7th June. Hotel is predominantly German which wasn’t an issue although they tended to constantly stare which was extremely uncomfortable. We definitely felt out of place in this hotel. The general manager constantly speaking in German to us. The general manager was EXTREMELY rude in regards to talking to myself and my partner, he proceeded to raise his voice and tell us where to sit at what time in German even though I explained I was greek and my partner was English. This felt uncomfortable and dinner was ran like you was in the military. After this we did not eat in the hotel for dinner again, due to the food being below average and the manager being extremely rude. Food was below par. All Service staff were amazing, very helpful and polite. (Excluding the Manager) The rooms were nice and clean. The location of the hotel is perfect, I would only stay here on a room only basis.

The hotel is located in the middle of the village platanes, in botanic gardens' in hidden area of a complex of apartments, next to the sea plenty of pools inside and outside, children and adult pools, restaurant, tavern, pool bars, masers, Greek/cretan buffet breakfast - Greek buffet dinner. Quiet specious apartments. The hotel is located in the middle of Crete ready to explore & relax! you are welcome! Your second home is waiting you!

Reviewed By Sally1440This is a real gem of a place. We booked a superior two bedroom apartment for a very reasonable price and had a lovely stay. The apartment was on two levels with the twin room being on the lower level and the double up a set of wooden stairs. Both bedrooms had balconies and en suite plus there was a small kitchen with a table and 4 chairs (fridge, 2 hobs, microwave, wash machine, toasties maker) and along the wall was a three seat sofa which could easily double up as a fifth bed. We went with two teens who could walk down to the beach on their own and up to the supermarket. There is a pool on the beach which wasn't yet open but would be lovely for families. Breakfast was great and you could pay as you go for 8 euros each. Just a really clean and bright place with plenty of flowers

Reviewed By skippy2105We visited Hotel Mantenia for the first time a year ago. It is a little jewel. The owners of the hotel are awesome, friendly, extremely helpful and incredibly nice. The hotel is very clean and has this incomparable location close to the empty beach. Small walk to restaurants in the evening to Planatias/Rethymno. Also, the hotel has a beautiful garden and fruits are part of the breakfast when in season. Attention: If you are looking for all inclusive, buffets with queues and sterile atmosphere, you are wrong here. For us it was and is the best we have seen and fully tailored to our needs: small, fine and personal.

I'd Give 10 Stars If I Could!

I had a late flight so didn't arrive at the hotel until 10 pm but was greeted with cold juice and a cold bottle of water, plus, when I arrived at my room, a little snack which was very welcome. It's hard to say what is the best part of this hotel - my room was just lovely, well furnished and spacious and a comfy bed and always kept immaculately clean. All the staff were just lovely; friendly and helpful and you felt like part of the family very soon. I went half board - the breakfasts are phenomenal and if there's nothing to suit you, you're too fussy! The three course dinners are all freshly prepared (there is a good choice, including vegetarian options) and my only problem was deciding what to have. The pool is quite something - like an aquarium and I've never seen anything like it. Plenty of sunbeds and the pool area was always beautifully clean. In fact, the whole hotel and grounds were always perfect. I'll definitely visit again.
