Another fantastic holiday!

Reviewed By sc00tb00t

Just home from yet another fantastic stay at Mains of Taymouth. It just never lets us down, year after year we have enjoyed a fantastic family holiday, and only a cars drive away. The properties are all high end and the staff are just fantastic, nothing, and I mean nothing is too much trouble. We were welcomed again by the friendly staff at the reception (they remembered us!), the other staff we came across when out walking the dog were all friendly and chatty too, there is such a nice family feeling there. It is our go-to holiday place, a short drive away to another world!! Can’t recommend enough!

Jubilee weekend.

Reviewed By davitwinchl

We managed to get the last room for the weekend. From when we arrived until we left we felt that the experience was far superior than other alternatives that we’d had before. Jane, Calum and Bailey were all so welcoming and treated us like real guests. The breakfast was incredible and shouldn’t be missed. The room fee was a little more than some of the other local alternatives but far superior. Small details as decent espresso machines, quality towels and Scottish soaps made the stay feel like a retreat. Don’t miss staying here. Avoid 3rd party booking websites as there wasn’t any saving for us and support these lovely people by booking online directly. I looked for the red squirrels but couldn’t see them. I’ll bring some nuts next time. Thanks. Dave and S

Very comfortable room, delicious food, and excellent service-attitude among all staff make this a very pleasant stay

Reviewed By Ashlander

Loved this Inn in the charming Scottish small town. The room was very comfortable, well appointed, with amenities. But the truly exceptional thing was the service attitude among the staff. Everyone was just unusually friendly, helpful and enthusiastic. We observed that they also treated each other with this same attitude to helpfulness and positivity. We attribute this to good management, and we certainly felt we benefitted from that. I received emails advising me to book for dinner if I wanted to eat at their establishment, and I received an almost immediate response when I did so. Other emails advising of our arrival time and asking about parking were also immediately acknowledged. The food at the Inn was also delicious and the place is obviously very popular locally. We could not have been more pleased with this accommodation, which for us, was a stop between St. Andrews golf day and Inverness. We were so happy we chose to stop here and experience this brand of Scottish hospitality. Definitively one of the best we have encountered so far in Scotland.

Fantastic Young Family Break

Reviewed By kegaline1

We stayed here for 2 nights - myself, my partner, our young baby and our 3.5 year old - and we had the best time. We stayed in a family room in the main hotel that had a separate space for bunk beds which our 3 year old loved. There were so many activities. The massive play area with the fort, bouncy pillows, maze and crazy golf was fab. It’s a bit of a walk but an easy walk and buggy friendly. The food in the Italian restaurant that we ate in both nights was great, the kids menu was a wee bit limited though. The breakfast buffet had a huge selection. Check out was at 11am so it wasn’t too much of a rush to get out. The staff were all really friendly and attentive. The whole stay was summaries by our 3 year old who said “I just loved all of it”

Wonderful Victorian hotel set in glorious gardens. The hotel staff were a credit to the hotel, especially the Night Manager…we checked into the hotel quite late and the Night Manager provided help and advice. We enjoyed the buffet style breakfast. A visit to the Hotel Museum gives you a real flavour of hotel life in Victorian times, well worth a visit.

Outstanding stay with a superb host

Reviewed By Ian441672

We had a lovely relaxing 4 night stay in the spectacularly large and comfortable Turret Suite room affording us some sweeping views of the Perth city centre, river, mountains and beyond. Lots of treats in the room (and out of the room), Nespresso coffee machine, mini fridge, huge comfy bed, spacious bathroom with large shower and bath. The whole property is very well kept in its traditional surroundings, a log fire welcomes you into the dining area where a fresh homecooked and very tasty Full Scottish awaits you (or one of the very many hot and cold items on the expansive menu). We also had dinner one night, again all freshly prepared and presented as a fine dining meal, but in a relaxed and homely environment - the onion rings were fantastic also!!! Claire was an outstanding host, never intrusive but always making sure our stay was perfect and giving us plenty of ideas of things to do and see. She couldn't do enough for us and made sure our stay was wholly memorable - five star everything! Good luck in your new ventures of which I am sure will be hugely successful - thanks for a amazing 4 days. Best wishes, Ian and Annette.

We booked annexe room 12. Was in room about 15 minutes and noticed ants in bathroom, didn't bother to much because you get insects everywhere. The room was a bit dirty should be cleaner. The blinds in bathroom were filthy. When we came home after a few days we have ants in our house... same as ones in hotel room.. not pleased, can only assume we brought the home from room. Would not stay there again. Hope my house does not have ant problem. On the plus side the staff were great and breakfast was good.

The name and photographs portrayed a very different hotel from what we stayed in. The staff are all very friendly. But the hotel itself is tired and run down. It has an unpleasant smell and made me feel queezey. Our room felt like something from Butlins. Nice bed but that’s it. The breakfast was awful too. Bananas were way best their best, the porridge was stodgy and the cooked food obviously reheated. Very poor! I would not go back here!!
